Scotch/Irish here. Great grandfather, Patrick Stewart, immigrated from Mayo County, Ireland to Lexington, Missouri, USA to work in the coal mines along the Missouri River. His daughter, Bridget, would marry grandfather John Bray and move to Kansas City, Missouri. I have felt from the time I could remember a deep feeling within me for all things Scottish and Irish. I guess it literally runs in my blood. There is a timelessness, a stillness beyond words, that glows from the culture of those islands. May all the world be surrounded and attended by the love and spiritual robes of peace and good will today and every day of the year. Our mother planet gives so much to us without our asking. We need to marvel with gratitude daily at such bounty, such beauty and care for all of creation. May all of us abide in such grace and live to protect and nourish our mother world and one another, brothers and sisters.

My Grandpa Murphy came from the Murphy Castle in Munster. After the castle was bombed, when just 17, he set out over the seas to the USA. He moved to San Francisco and became a cable car conductor. His name was Cornelius Patrick Murphy and he had a lot of good but he couldn't take it with him. It was and is still too heavy. The Irish Republican Museum has it now, I guess. I Ince saw all this gold in his name at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. My dad could not acquire it either. My dad, Timothy Michael Murphy was just a poor man who owned and operated Murphys Mufflers in Yreka, CA. But perhaps my great Aunt could have acquired the gold. She was my Grandpa Murphys sister. Her first name was Dehlia, but I don't know her last name. She lived in Munster also and she lived to be 106. I think she died in the early 1980s. She was and probably still is, the eldest woman who ever lived "on the sod of auld Ireland."
...a lot of gold...At any rate, my Grandma Hedigan-Murphy came from Killarney. My Grandpa Edward Walsh came from Kilkenny and my Grandma Healy Walsh came from Tipperary. They all came from Southern Ireland between 1910 and 1920. My Grandpa Walsh wrote a diary of his trip by ship in 1914, when he was 28 years old. He was born in 1886 and his wife Catherine was born in 1892. My Murphy grandparents were born in 1900.
I am also Irish and Scottish…and Welsh, according to Ancestry! and a few other things, but those are the majority. On my father’s side i was just told “English and Irish,” so the Scottish and Welsh were a big surprise!!! and actually have more of them than the Irish. Ancestry is so amazing…they even pinpointed that my Irish forebears were from County Donegal! Anyway, i also give thanks for our beautiful and bountiful Mother Nature…to GOD, the CREATOR. Nature didn’t create itself!!! May you have a blessed Advent and Christmas of Peace, Comfort and Joy.

Scotch/Irish here. Great grandfather, Patrick Stewart, immigrated from Mayo County, Ireland to Lexington, Missouri, USA to work in the coal mines along the Missouri River. His daughter, Bridget, would marry grandfather John Bray and move to Kansas City, Missouri. I have felt from the time I could remember a deep feeling within me for all things Scottish and Irish. I guess it literally runs in my blood. There is a timelessness, a stillness beyond words, that glows from the culture of those islands. May all the world be surrounded and attended by the love and spiritual robes of peace and good will today and every day of the year. Our mother planet gives so much to us without our asking. We need to marvel with gratitude daily at such bounty, such beauty and care for all of creation. May all of us abide in such grace and live to protect and nourish our mother world and one another, brothers and sisters.

My Grandpa Murphy came from the Murphy Castle in Munster. After the castle was bombed, when just 17, he set out over the seas to the USA. He moved to San Francisco and became a cable car conductor. His name was Cornelius Patrick Murphy and he had a lot of good but he couldn't take it with him. It was and is still too heavy. The Irish Republican Museum has it now, I guess. I Ince saw all this gold in his name at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. My dad could not acquire it either. My dad, Timothy Michael Murphy was just a poor man who owned and operated Murphys Mufflers in Yreka, CA. But perhaps my great Aunt could have acquired the gold. She was my Grandpa Murphys sister. Her first name was Dehlia, but I don't know her last name. She lived in Munster also and she lived to be 106. I think she died in the early 1980s. She was and probably still is, the eldest woman who ever lived "on the sod of auld Ireland."
...a lot of gold...At any rate, my Grandma Hedigan-Murphy came from Killarney. My Grandpa Edward Walsh came from Kilkenny and my Grandma Healy Walsh came from Tipperary. They all came from Southern Ireland between 1910 and 1920. My Grandpa Walsh wrote a diary of his trip by ship in 1914, when he was 28 years old. He was born in 1886 and his wife Catherine was born in 1892. My Murphy grandparents were born in 1900.
They all came to San Francisco, CA from Southern Ireland.
I am also Irish and Scottish…and Welsh, according to Ancestry! and a few other things, but those are the majority. On my father’s side i was just told “English and Irish,” so the Scottish and Welsh were a big surprise!!! and actually have more of them than the Irish. Ancestry is so amazing…they even pinpointed that my Irish forebears were from County Donegal!
Anyway, i also give thanks for our beautiful and bountiful Mother Nature…to GOD, the CREATOR. Nature didn’t create itself!!!
