- Hello, thank you for listening to our music. I hope it gives you some joy and pleasure.
I am pleased that you have discovered our music through this medium. I view this experience as the equivalent of previewing a record in a record store in days of old. However, if you wish to experience the music in its' fullest form, I would strongly encourage you to acquire it in a physical format you can bring into your home. Not only will you then be able to experience the richest version of the music sonically, but you will also be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the tangible artwork, which was conceived in tandem with the music, and serves as a further portal to experiencing the total conceptual and spiritual and emotional content of the work we have labored, lovingly, to bring to you.
I love you,

The last minute of this song could go on for 10 minutes and it still wouldn't be long enough
That's why it's so perfect. We waited for so long in tension, with such beautiful sounds and words preparing us for the chaos that the short ending has. What a way to give us goosebumps, what a way to prepare us for climax. Definitely Swans sounds perfect in the 8 to 15 minutes mark.
06:21
Had this stuck in my head all night. No lyrics, just Gira's uplifting wail.
This is fighting music. It's so incredibly intense and nothing fills me with adrenaline the way this song does. The entire album just constantly activates your fight or flight response
Bro, it's really good running music too. Jogging through an unlit bike track through the darkness listening to this song is something else.
Unforgettable outro, probably best of the album.
Nah it’s good but piece of the sky lunacy and mother of the world are way better imo
@@oscarh5439 understandable
@@oscarh5439 Why is better?
That ending riff is beautiful, crushing, amazing.
From 7:40... God DAMN that ending is so epic and beautiful.
7:35 is a bit better for anyone that just wants to listen to that part
It's like a boss fight music
Possibly the greatest song ever
One of the best songs I've ever heard and within context of the album is even better
The Best Band Ever
The picture is nightmare fuel
Not as much as yours
Final boss music
Ye ahah sounds like boss battle themes from Final Fantasy
Christmas music
Could easily be 9 minutes longer. Superb track!
So beautiful. I look up to the sky everytime I listen to this and i feel myself being thrust upward into a cosmic place where I am at peace.
Esteban Rodriguez With any other band, I’d say this comment is a bit much, but with SWANS, it’s justified.
You like it then?!
On that note (at least it sounds like the same note to me), this song has given me a new appreciation for meaninglessness. Not because the song is meaningless of course, but this song made me really understand in my heart just how subjective our experience and understanding of existence is. Things mean things to us but that doesn't mean they actually mean anything. There are cosmic truths that would be meaningless to us because we wouldn't be able to contextualize them even if they were right in front of our noses. We look at static on the tv and think, "oh this means nothing its random nonsense," but that static is obviously not just what we make of it. The album art also helped me understand this because it is so emotionally gripping and that's just because we can make sense of the imagery based on the context of our lives and on the context of past human experience that has made it's way into our DNA and become a part of who we all are. The mangy seer in the blackness is meaning sounded by endless meaninglessness.
For a hideously bleak and pitch-black dark album that’s an oddly optimistic feeling
Like an angry God that sees through your sins.
Swans has a whole has a very Old Testament feel, either that or the Book of Revelation.
Very true.
Kalki Avatar
The "seer"
I am the angry man who sees through God's sins
THIS SONG MAKES EVERY HAIR ON MY BODY STAND ON END...NO MATTER HOW MANY FUKKIN TIMES I PLAY IT.
Swans IS my favorite Band with Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Same here, I love listening to F#A# infinity and the seer during quarantine.
@@jackgatti8643 Yanqui fucking UXO too
@@LV--rd6cm uhh skinny fists too no? yes?
I tend to agree but you need to watch out namedropping GYBE in a Swans thread, it’s like saying a demons true name and it will immediately summon the most insufferable fucking people ever born to sneer down their beaks at you
@@virtue7574 Every album except hairy amp drooling, Yanke UXO and Magazine (whatever it is)
Saw gira play this live in S.F.
single most life altering moments of my benign and malignant existence.
Honestly kinda jealous, I always find out about his shows like a week after he's been in the bay, he's doing a couple shows in sf in September though. Wish I could have been there for the seer tour or he plays some at that show
It was life altering.
It was the first time I ever saw them live after being a fan of 30 years.
going on my christmas playlist
never in the history of music has there ever been a better build up to epicness!
One of my favorite pieces of music.
That outro is insane
I recommend seeing this band live, there's no substitute, at all.
I love you too Micheal gira
the end of this is so powerful! i love this song. one of your best albums. it was great to see you live (although on the "to be kind" tour)
This is a great running song
Now this is a song that I would call epic.
There was a period when I listened to that album while reading a book about Indian wars in 17th century New England. The beauty and intensity of the music matched my imagination as I pictured the most gruesome killings between natives and settlers actually depicted in the book. These apocalyptic bells fitted perfectly with that whole imagery I made up in my head…
Outro is incredible
just saw you guys at the 9:30 Club on July 28th 2016...my first time.
devastatingly mind blowing...thank you for the education guys
Swans music is grounding.
I found myself unconsciously spinning with my arms up like a Sufi every time I listen to this
God exists !!, and this song proves
Nice avatar, Dumbland is underrated
Your eye is in my eye...♡.
There is a song also called "Avatar" from the Band DEAD CAN DANCE. It is on the Album "Spleen and Ideal" and for me, it sounds familiar to this masterpiece.
A lot of the bells in that song sound similar to the ones here
@@thc_freebaser Lmao, they don't sound remotely close.
I love you too, Michael
Holy fucking shit, this track is S T U N N I N G !
Amazing track really different style from older songs but still awesome :)
Was playing Werewolf The Apocalypse and got to the part where you fight the Fomori when this song came on... So cinematic
Spiritually therapeutic
Always amazing.
This band is the reason my hearing sucks
shit pfp
@@harrylamont6007 no u
Pardon?!
Why doesn't surprise me that a Death Grips fan also likes this band?
@@dsylexic Once you go /mu/ core you never come back
Like a psychic chainsaw exorcising the cancer of my illusions
magnificent track!
fukin brilliant!!!!!!!!!!
AMAZING BAND !!
finally found a swans record that jives with me
The start of this sounds like the Futurama theme in a post apocalyptic time xD
Lmao, yes
You can feel the influences from krautrock :D
Those Grantchester Meadows Birds but more sinister
Excellent!!!
they better use this in the next Avatar movie
I'm here because of Red Dead Online's Halloween featured series. Don't regret it.

Interesting.
?
I love you too.
I just became an Incineroar main today. This is the song I hear whenever I Alolan Whip into an Armbar.
love
Is this Futurama opening..... song
This song makes me think of Pelinal Whitestrake
best
i feel like my needle is crimson
At the end of the world, in an epic final battle of a war between Earth and an alien race trying to conquer us, this song will playing with Gira and company appearing in the sky while a thunderstorm is nearing it’s climax.
WOW !!!
Wow!
🖤
This giving me a picture in pub like man dancing with a ugly girl and the man is on the knees while girl is proud of him self dancing around a man and crowd of like 20 people watching and saying like come on fight!
That is the most absurd description I've ever read.😂
What a dolt.
Like: The Seer
Comment: To be kind
both records are some of my favourites ever, but i gotta go with to be kind on this one, *barely*
I love the trilogy all equally
Yeah it's like The Seer is almost a 10 and To be kind feels even better, if that is possible.
i now think tbk>tgm>seer, but all are 10s
@@harrylamont6007 I feel TGM is a development of the same ideas they came up to in TBK, like they took their sound to the limit.
is it Life or Light?
Both
This song reminds me a lot of Tool’s Triad.
Don't insult Swans like that.
michael gira / swans have been a confirmed (see mjk's interviews) source of inspiration for tool. that being said, i guess the similarities here are limited on the triplet feel and the drones in the intro.
Fuck tool
Wow, it looks like I unintentionally waged a war with the writing staff at Pitchfork.
moviemaster8510 this is fantastic! Lol
TOP
ending should have been longer
It COULD have been longer. But Michael Gira always has pretty good feeling for timings, I trust him this is a close to perfect configuration. It is evocative in this state. What more can we ask?
Fucking Home Alone music😆
In the midst of all
