@@jordansuits5781 I remember now watching the concert with a couple of friends - they...all clean...I just looked at them after 2 or 3 songs and mentioned: "It's such an experience..." LOL they had no idea what I was talking about.
A masterpiece of an interview that helps allowing both to talk about their experience in such a profound and intimate way. A real gift - Bon Iver’s Music and Dane’s art of the interview. I feel very grateful to have experienced this.
iMi and jelmore are amazing, so amazing seeing Justin evolving through each album, the difference from for emma, forever ago, which will always be timeless for me to i,i is just unbelievable.
maybe it will sound stupid.. but three days before you surprised us with the release I was myself lying on the bathroom floor unable to move and wondering if I even want to. to stand up, ever.. thank you for talking about mental issues openly, bon iver helps me greatly to overcome anxiety and depression periods and gives me a sense of hope for the future. I really hope one day I open the blinds and tell myself I am on the good side now, but for now every little helps and your music is much more than just a little. love you deeply, P.
PetraPe I know the feeling personally, I’ve had my own personal struggles with grief and deep sadness lately... I’ve been soo deep down that it’s hard to see the light (I’ve endured a lot of loss of loved ones including one of my parents) and as if I’m underneath a veil. Volcano Choir, Bon Iver, & Justin Vernon’s music has definitely helped me through also... Perhaps one day I will and can also open the blinds. Sending you light, hope, and good vibes also dear....💛
really great insight. it's awesome to see Justin in such a good place. his mindset is so evident in his art. number one inspiration right now. thanks for encouraging me to make art exactly where i am, whether that's really up or really down, smack in the midwest or in the thick of the "competition" which seems to be everywhere now thanks to the internet. i'm just gonna keep making. much love
Zane manages to do this with every artist. I’m glad apple has given him the platform he deserves. So nice to hear about the human behind the music, rather than the artist. If that makes sense
i wish i could sit down with justin like this and explore the art he's created, to let him know truly how much he has given me. my first tattoo was the script of "bon iver" from the self-titled album art. his music will always explain all the emotions i hold and cannot put words to; the music will always bring me back to the highest and lowest points of my life, the journeys i have taken and are yet to come. i had the honor of going to a show last year and again this year and i just know my entire heart will be feeling alllll the feelings. truly justin, thank you, always.
I feel like Justin wouldn’t have opened up as much if it wasn’t Zane interviewing! The guy chats like a mate who knows his shit! Which opens up Justin cause he feels like he is talking to a friend / fan! And that is why zane is the best to do this! Incredible to hear Justin so open and vulnerable
For someone that English is my second language- your music has its melody has made me travel to a festival across the US to hear you live. It’s been 5 years since I saw you live- and I still listen to you on Spotify and tell my friends about this your music. Brings me peace, nostalgia, happiness! Thank you!
Been doing a Bon Iver's week myself. watching their videos, lives and this. What a great closing; love the final question and definitely love Justin's answer. He genuinely smiled when he answered that. it just warms my heart.
Absolutely love how Vern and Zane gelled in this interview.. They got each other totally. Justin is a Magical Soul.. Love the new music.. Saves me every day.. 💜
This is my 3rd fav Bon Iver album but it has sparked creativity and motivation within me that I craved. I've never been this excited to craft my photography/videography/editing skills. Thanks again, Justin Vernon and Bon Iver. These albums always give me something I need

It is so refreshing to hear someone talk so openly and to know that he is making a record purely for what he believes in and I believe that connects with people so much more. There is too much competition out there in the music industry and I feel it definitely takes away from 'real' honest music when artists are too busy trying to satisfy record companies and make a living from music. We need more Justin's in the music industry.
This feels less like an interview and more like a conversation... how they should be! I love love love Justin with all my heart and am so happy his journey has brought him here
What a great band, and so cool to hear about Justin's journey, creative process, dealing with fame, mental issues etc. Takes a lot of guts to admit things aren't great and make a change and I'm so glad to see one of my favourite artists be so brave and pragmatic about their life/health. A million more Bon Iver records please. God bless.
Such a relaxed interview, more a conversation. I was one of the fans who had their concert cancelled but i got priority to get tickets the second time around... best night of my life and so worth waiting for! The evolution of Bon Iver has truly been phenomenal.
Any interview I've seen with Justin from this album... he seems almost like a different person. You can tell he's happy (or at least gotten things figured out). It's so great to see him like that. I love the new record!
Justin captures the way I feel about home--Wisconsin--in a way no one else can. When I feel homesick, I just listen to his music. My parents both lived in Eau Claire right before I was born so it gives me a strange sense of pride to see his own love for the town.
Two weeks and three days I see this man live in Washington State with my beloved sister. I’m from Pittsburgh. Always wanted to see The PNW. As well as Justin w/ Bon. Cannot wait!! 🔥💯🙌🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Legitimately the pinnacle of what an interviewer should be. Listening with intent and responding intelligently in order to guide an insightful discussion. Enjoyed every minute.
What a refreshingly honest interview, no bullshit just the real stuff. Total respect for talking about issues some would hide, if you share the route to your peace then we can all reach our own
You're music is so inspiring, and I feel it in my soul. It's gotten me through so many hard times, and I love the new album. So. Much. My favorite is Faith. It's just so passionate. I've bought the whole album!! You have my support. Thank you guys for being you.
Bruce Hornsby’s “The way it is” is the favorite LP I own. And I bought it for 1.5 EUR in a vintage clothes store. I love that Justin mentions it as one of his top-of-mind records.
Amazing to hear that you feel those things Justin, as we all do, especially for us "emerging artists" and just the shear amount of what feels like an unidentifiable resistance and anxiety towards creating, performing, and sharing our work.
Probably when he was around 14-16 I was going to college in WI. And at the end of the school year, I drove from Nicolet state forest to every Native reservation I could there, on the way back to Milwaukee. Because I am native.
Loved hearing his opinions on putting other songs he’s written on future records. Personally, the song he made for that Zach Braff movie called “Heavenly Father“ is one of my favourites of his and I’ve always really hoped I would hear it as part of A future album so that I don’t have to just listen to it on its own or hear it live.
I've been able to watch myself grow and change and learn with each new release of his, being on this journey with you has been an honor, Justin. I found you when I was in a very malleable state and you have helped to shape a lot of who I am and inspire to be. Thank you for everything, I couldn't have asked for a better musician / person to grow up with.
Lovely insight into one of my favourite bands. Saw them live @Latitude on a grey, wet day and the sun came out just as they came onstage... ended up sway hugging with a 6ft+ Rasta during Skinny Love (I’m 5ft3). Definitely one of the top 5 best gigs I’ve ever been to! Absolutely amazing

I wish I could tell him what the album means to me. It got me through the worst hell I knew. It has permanent symbolism, permanent geological markers, permanent smells, permanent pains. Over-Soon is a beautiful soundtrack to my anguish, and something I could never forget...... Things I still deal with. I hate that I do. I wish they were buried in the past. But they're here today, here now, in my head. I hope all of life isn't like this.

So interesting, I use to have a favorite number 2 and also since I am a taurus and my birthday is May 2nd I believe I picked the number at a young age. Going off on a tangent here.. I enjoyed listening to this and did not know that he has battled anxiety throughout writing his music. I do suffer from anxiety and depression, it is always on and off, I am not getting any help or seeing any counselors just because I don't really think it will help much. 22, A Million has been on high rotation for me since 2016 so has no season yet, as I live on it will mark a very weird time for me. I’ve been folding my cloths, and climbing the stairs. Never forget Urban Disturbance. Sparking it up since ‘93
Every sailboat thrown Every failed poem Every morning dream Every evening steam Every sidewalk sale Every finishing nail Every dress that’s worn Every baby born
Please play lots of our old favourites in the tour as well :) would be a bummer to see the album front to back and then a short setlist of all the other albums but here’s hoping! The setlists Bon Iver did this summer were so sick, Holocene, blood bank, mmmmm
Okay, take two. I had the distinct FORTUNE to be able to get a ticket to last night's performance at the Kings theater in Brooklyn. And the only word I can use is astounding. Completely collaborative, it was a perfect marriage of outstanding modern dance and music. The dancers were amazing, the ways they made their bodies float, pierce the air, evoke the lyric meaning, whoa. The finale was "Naeem" and it blew my breath away...STANDING OVATION, NO SHIT. What I will say is that I believe that the people up in the mezzanine near me were expecting "A greatest hits/fan favorite" kind of setlist. Me, the only thing that could have topped Naeem, would have been Holocene.
I'd love to know you man.... excellent interview. I will promptly listen to the new album. There is no better music in the world than your self titled album, which I recommend to anyone who will listen. Truly one of my favorite artists and it's even a greater pleasure to see how truly real you are. Rock on dude

For someone who sings mostly in head voice, dude has a real resonant chest.
Ian Thomas he is singing in chest voice plenty
I've seen a few interviews of his and it still kinda surprises me lol. His video with Aaron Rodgers is another really good one.
Check out his song “I Won’t Run From It” it’s on his side project ‘Big Red Machine’ it’s not under Bon Iver he sings low and it’s amazing
And what strikes me is how he can sing in a low pitch falsetto, I guess that's because of his resonant chest.
His deep low voice is so powerful too
i can’t believe justin suffered from anxiety around the same time that his music single handedly cured mine. love this man forever.

The i,i interviews are by far my favorite Justin interviews to date
22, A Million has been on high rotation for me since 2016 so has no season yet, as I live on it will mark a very weird time for me. I’ve been folding my cloths, and climbing the stairs.
Never forget Urban Disturbance. Sparking it up since ‘93
I can totally relate to Justin
Every sailboat thrown
Every failed poem
Every morning dream
Every evening steam
Every sidewalk sale
Every finishing nail
Every dress that’s worn
Every baby born
Please come to South Africa
I'm going to see him in the US, I've been waiting, can't wait anymore
Alice in Chains, Jar Of Flies... Justin... My man.
I’m glad they decided to be generous, I saw them at the TD in Boston and it was the best musical experience of my life! I hope y’all come back!!

There is no better music in the world than your self titled album, which I recommend to anyone who will listen. Truly one of my favorite artists and it's even a greater pleasure to see how truly real you are. Rock on dude
