- In this video I will demonstrate the easiest way to take portraits with a white background in a small home studio. I will be sharing photography tips and techniques as well as a live view of the actual shoot. As with all my lighting tutorial videos, I will be giving you a behind the scenes and live view (SOOC) look of the entire shoot.

Beyond Ambient Light
A One-on-One Online Photography Workshop
The aim of this 1-HOUR long workshop is to develop your vision and style with the use of off camera flash.
I will discuss with you habits you should be developing before you actually click that shutter as well as the basics of off-camera flash photography, light manipulation and posing. Then finally, we will implement these learnings through what I call ‘DeConstruction’. I guarantee you it will be a fun way to learn and will be a critical step to improving your photography.

Hello from Korea
Keep uploading
Awesome man. learned so much ::))
Thank you! Great tutorial ❤️, as always.
Thanks for watching :)
I’ve used a backlighted window and sheer curtains and strobe to get the effect. Caution must be used though to move the subject far enough away to not have a problem with haze causing compromised contrast. If you shot your subject with the strobe off you should get a black silhouette with clean sharp edges. When the strobe is added all should be fine.
Hey Jiggie, thanks so much for the help.
Do you know if a Neewer Speedlite Flash Softbox would work as a supplement for the MagMod?
Your daughter is too cute!
Thank you for the video Sir Jiggie. Those foam boards are amazing very cheap way to control and bounce the light. Amazing shot and very cute subject. :)
Yes!
Excelente !!!!
Thank you
Ohh cute baby doll 😍😍😍😍

Great Model!!!!
Agree! :)
Thanks
Thank you too!
Great tutorial, sir!
Thank you
Hey there sir Jiggie! Again another fantastic video. Can i get your opinion? Would you recommend that modifier as a first one to own? I mainly focus on portraits similar to yours.
The umbrella? You can’t go wrong with that, inexpensive, easy to put up and gives beautiful light
Nice shoes sir jiggie :)
Thanks, a pair that really flew under the radar
Your daughter is so cute :) :) :)
She is :)
I know you don't want to use a light meter, and neither would I. I definitely would keep an eye on my histogram to make sure the background isn't clipped to white, though.
Thank you for all your helpful tutorials Jiggie!
At 9:26 I wonder why there was this hard shadow line on the left side of her neck although you used a relatively big light source? Why isn't the light as soft as expected?
Contrast because of the distance of the light to the subject
@@JiggieAlejandrino Thanks for your answer! But isn't the light getting softer, the closer it is to the subject due to it relative size?
Nice to see your daughter again. It is instructive to see you adjust each light separately until the desired exposure is dialled in. But, why would you not use TTL to get to a starting point in a single shot? From there, each light could be fine tuned. Your daughter was very patient and not squirming in place so your incremental approach worked fine. With another child, speed might be important.
There’s a different between shooting a video and a real shoot. In which case, light tweaking would have been done before the subject arrives. Shooting in Manual gives you more consistent images. Lastly, TTL will hardly ever give you a white backdrop, I don’t it designed that way
@@JiggieAlejandrino My TTL trigger allows me to adjust a light up or down a total of 3 stops from the base TTL setting. Up 3 stops should allow a white background, but you don’t have to go all the way if not required. Manual does give you repeatability, but I’ve never encountered a problem that way. I sure would like to see an example of this. I wonder if TTL variations are even significant, regardless of RUclipsr’s claims. My trigger also has a TCM Button that takes the TTL starting point into manual power settings. I use a Z6ii and Godox triggers. Setting the Z6ii to Manual does not shut off TTL. But, I do have to use the menu on the trigger and not the camera menu because that requires Nikon Speedlights, which I find rather expensive. I confess I do not know either Sony or Canon TTL usage.
Thank You for your Great Tutorials...I am looking at turning this Great Photography Hobby into a Business in my retirement (3 years form now LOL)...Would this work with a combination of Studio Strobe and Speed Light? (Godox AD200 Pro and Canon Speed Light) Thank you for all of your great advice!!!
I don’t see why it wouldn’t :)
@@JiggieAlejandrino Since there is a difference in the power of the AD200 Pro and the Speed Light would you have to use the AD200 Pro as the Main and the Speed light as the Background?
would it be better to replace the magmod with the rogue flash bender?
I personally don’t think so
@@JiggieAlejandrino oh the light spills were reflection from the backdrop? Or from the spill from the Magmod translucent material?^^
It's great how you don't use the light meter, keep things simple, and take great shots
In a way, but of course others would completely disagree :)
Your tutorials are the best. I clicked a few portraits at home and they are now approved on Shutterstock. Thank you Sir 🙏
