How to Calculate the Median for Individual, Discrete and Continuous Series data

  • The median is a measure of central tendency and is a value that half of the data points are below it and the other half are above it. it indicates the middle point of the dataset. In this video, we have 4 data sets that we will be using to show you all the different ways that you can compute the median in your examination or test.
    Dataset 1: This is an individual series dataset of the number of clinic visits in the last year of a sample of 9 children (odd number) in a community in Zaria.
    Dataset 2: This is also an individual series dataset but this time with an even number of data points. It is the data of the number of times that 10 children have been vaccinated in their lifetime.
    Dataset 3: This is a discrete series dataset on the number of dental clinic visits of 10 children in the last 1 year.
    Dataset 4: This is a continuous series of data on the weight in Kg of 10 children attending the Nutritional clinic in Samaru Zaria Nigeria.
