A big rule about gremmy power is he cant just think of you dying, he needs to rhink of something happening, thats why instead of just imagining Yachirus bones breaking, he inagined them as cookies so they broke, and also if someone has much stronger reiatsu than him, he cant effect their body directly, thats why he could directly effect kenny, and was only changing the world around him

Honestly fantastic episode, Kenpachi never fails to bring the hype!
Also for the cap on Gremmy's abilities, its all about spiritual pressure. He can imagine anyone dying instantly like he did with Kensei and Rose since they have little reiatsu left from their fight with Mask, however if another being has a good amount of reiatsu to counter it, his abilities have a certain cap to them, therefore simply imagining death doesnt really work off the bat.
And for Kenpachi sweeping Gremmy, Gremmy was there more for lore purposes than being an actual threat, either way if it was anyone else facing him they most likely would have lost LOL
Wrong, Gremmy's abilities are in no way limited to spiritual pressures, he wanted to face Kenpachi and prove that he could beat him with his imagination, killing him by imagining his death would be pointless. The fact is that Gremmy lacks experience and this is due to the fact that YHWACH imprisoned and sealed him, because his power was too dangerous.

"you seem strong... You're just as I imagined" are very strong words to be said by someone with the power of imagination. It means rumors/information about how monstrously strong Kenpachi is has an impact on Gremmy's idea of him. It's entirely possible, and in my opinion, probable that Gremmy from the get go had thoughts about Kenpachi being unkillable, or unimaginably powerful, which are true, but how much of his imagination was backfiring by having those thoughts.
I mean, he almost lost by panicking and thinking he might lose and losing means death etc etc so it's extremely dangerous for everyone ESPECIALLY Gremmy himself.
It's also hard to tell if the body can't handle it, or if it was that his power hit a limit trying to obtain that power he couldn't fathom, since both lines are kind of mentioned, it's entirely possible it's both.

Yeah this fight is about two dudes on the opposite ends of the spectrum who're the "strongest" and trying to fill the void they have. It was almost like two friends going at it at some points lol

[Tidbits & Clarifications]
- Yachiru's ability is quite strong, It strikes before she attacks, when she attacks and after she attacks. Also as Isane noted no Shinigami has a Shikai that doesn't change form once released.
- In regards to Gremmy killing the Captains, we saw 1st hand the the affects of his imagination can be reverted if he's not focused so it's possible that those captains deaths are not permanent.
- The anime cuts the reaction of both Shinigami and Quincy when Gremmy used the Meteor.
- Many fans claim that Gremmy is idiotic, however he's more so sheltered, this is why he began to feel ecstatic by fighting for the 1st time. The idea is that despite being able to imagine nearly anything he's likely experienced very little in life from actions to even feelings.
- The scene with Kenpachi calling out his swords name mixed with the Flashback of Yachiru not having a name is a huge in your face hint here which some people somehow miss.
- In regards to Gremmy's power of imagination many fans fail to understand that it has many drawbacks. The 1st being that what one can imagine is based on experience and Gremmy has lived a very confined life because it's alluded to in the manga that he's kept locked away somewhere. The 2nd is that as we saw a person's imagination can do it's own thing, so if you have unvoluntarry negative thoughts they will affect you like how gremmy began to lose. 3rd is that it's limited to the speed of his thoughts. Lastly it's not limitless as some claim, if he can just make anything a reality Yhwach would have told him to imagine that every soul reaper was dead, but clearly that's not the case.

Fantastic Episode but so many Dialogues in chapter 577 that they removed, for me it's bring more hype and lots of tension in the battle .
* They cut Askin eating a sandwich with a snack basket while watching the battle with the telescope
* Askin and Pepe conversation about How Gremmy deserved to be locked up again because of his abilities , then he decide to leave because he doesn't want to get killed by whatever Gremmy conjures 😂
* Renji and the Soul reapers saw the meteor falling and has a confident that the shakonmaku can handle that falling object
* Bazz B shocked when he saw the meteor falling while saying Gremmy is an idiot.
* also Jugram was terrified and tells the Quincy to protect Juha
* Juha standing and staring at the sky while meteor was falling, I think he is smirking on that panel

This episode for me was a letdown.. I am not usually comparing manga to anime because it's impossible to replicate every scene and sometimes they have to add/remove stuff in order to fit the budget or the pacing.
But, this episode didn't have the same impact as in the manga.. They removed so much from Yachiru's fight vs Guenael , both the quincy and yachiru are negliged in order to fit the whole Gremmy vs Kenpachi fight. I thought they would put 2 episodes for this fight (maybe finish this episode with Kenpachi's Shikai and continue onto the next)
Gremmy feels like a joke, not as much as Guenael but still they cut reactions of quincies (Jugram and Juha but also another one that I won't talk about he wasn't properly introduced thanks to that edit in the narrative of the anime) the rush was felt by anyone manga readers or not and we were used to it, they rushed some episodes back in season 1 but this time it's a bit much.
So yeah if anyone is an anime only at this point, read the corresponding chapters once this season is finished just to see the stuff they might have added or removed (I still think this episode was fun to watch, as always the animation is top notch and voice acting on point)
Tbh nothing of actual value was removed 🤷🏾♂️. Maybe it’s just me but besides Gremmy being locked up until now, I really truly do not give af about people seeing the meteor. It’s a meteor. I don’t have to see 6 people go 😮 at seeing it for it to be a big deal. This fight doesn’t need to be 2 episodes if I’m being honest especially with the constraints that they have. If they had an unlimited amount of episodes until they were done I might say differently, but knowing that there’s new content being added as well as the whole rest of the arc to go I’m not gonna be upset that little things most people don’t care about have to get cut. Like I said though that’s just me.

nah, reaction shots are played out....maybe I just think that way because of one piece since they go way overboard with reaction shots for every little thing, but I really got no interest in reaction shots anymore unless it´s one of the people who are fighting
@@Step43099 Fair points about "reactions" but it wasn't my point. Removing some parts is fair, but some would have added more depth and fear of the powers that gremmy have. Jugram reaction and him demanding guards to defend his highness shows what kind of monster Gremmy his for threatening all the quincies.
Sometimes "reactions" are meant to show something important, and the anime doesn't deliver as much as the manga in this particulal scene. They could just kept the moment the shinigami said the Shakonmaku wouldn't support such a mass I am sure a lot of people just forgot about that feature of Soul Society.
In my opinion this fight was waited for so long by the fanbase and for it to be so rushed is a bit dissappointing. And I understand that they have budget and a pace to keep because they have a limit to what they can produce, but still it's really going too fast.
@@ScientologyHunter2 I also agree, but sometimes those reactions are important to give info or context. If it's just a reaction with a character making a sound I agree, but if this reaction adds something then its deleted content. The meteo scene in the manga was crucial to show how much powerful Gremmy was and what the impact of the battle had on everyone in the battlefield, there weren't 50+ people reacting but a handful that had brief comment on the matter.
I also don't understand how everyone on this reply section is talking only about the reactions, that wasn't my only concern regarding the episode but anyway.
