My first reptile was a green anole I named Larry 😂 They have a reputation for not being handleable, but I was determined to earn Larry's trust! It took time....I went slow, waited for Larry to "taste" that it was me, and he'd climb on my finger and chill. I was about 8 at the time, so this really fostered my patience with amimals. Larry (and anoles in general!) helped grow my love of reptiles and will always hold a special place in my heart!
I use to see them so much in Florida. The green n brown ones. Then I got a community of them when I got back home. I think if more anoles like the ones in this video were seen n available more often in pet shops n other places then they would definitely be on more ppls radars!!! Bcuz this is the first time I've seen or heard of any of these!!!!
I love what this guy does for Anoles. I grew up in South Florida and spent my childhood catching them and they will always have a special place in my heart.
They are incredibly exciting to watch as they jump, hunt and display and you often find babies running around. I have kept many reptiles and they remain some of the most entertaining. Love that sail fin!!!!
Dāv, thank you so much for doing a video on anoles. They're so under appreciated because you can't handle much, but such charming little creatures! Green anoles were my intro to reptiles 2.5 decades ago ❤
Thanks Dāv for doing this video! Anoles have always been a favorite of mine. I'm lucky enough to watch their wild antics in North Carolina. Love the whole Genus
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures I didn’t know you & Clint won with your “Harrison Ford/Raiders” inspired build! Well, this calls for a celebratory song; *>AHEM
Six years ago I saw no anoles on Hawai’i (Big Island), now at our property (20 miles from Kailua Kona) we have hundreds of them. Adults 6-8” , green with red dewlap. See brown as well, but I believe they are same species. Amazing rate of spread! We also have several different geckos, some kind of skink, and Jacksons Chameleon. I don’t keep any as pets but at least two types of geckos like to come inside. The anoles prefer the water tank (sides and under edge of cover), the skinks are ground dwellers, and the Jackson’s prefer the trees. It’s like they’ve divided up the territories.
I am usually not into lizards at all, my herpetological obsession has always been about snakes and amphibians, but Dāv has had me really wanting a few anoles for a minute now. I think the anole vendors at my next reptile show owe him a commission.
I'm so glad you filmed at Armens! He's a great dude and his collection is amazing!! Anoles are definitely the underdog in the hobby and deserve more attention!
Definitely one of the groups I'd look into if I ever have the space/finances to consider lizards again...that Dominican anole for some reason reminds me of leachie patterns. Haven't seen them in collections anywhere, but one of the best anoles I've ever seen in person were wild Antigua Bank anoles (leachii). They get BIG, and so many colors on adult males...the smaller blue species they live near is cool too (wattsi).
We bought a couple of Tahitian diamondback morph because they were being picked on by the greens in the pet shop. They’ve been delightful once we got them in individual terrariums.
I’m obsessed with the Agamas here in Florida. I’ve made lizard playgrounds for them- but they don’t come out until the sun hits their sleeping quarters- after 10:am, and they go to bed at least an hour before sunset. Today, the sun hardly shone, so they were in bed by 3:pm. So when the agamas disappear, the anoles appear! At sunrise, they run up and down the logs, sit on the rocks, practice chasing each other! They enjoy the facilities! They disappear again when the agamas come out, but I can always find them in the background, on branches and leaves, watching. The hatchlings are 1” long- nose to tail. I often throw insects to the lizards while gardening. I don’t feed the anoles anymore. The adults will show up, swallow the baby as it eats a worm! To get the worm. Interestingly, the agama babies know to NOT eat in front of the larger agamas!
I’ll definitely be getting few species from herptime. I’ve always loved anoles and never knew there were so many different species and so many localities. I can’t wait to get a few
Oh Dāvey, I laughed at your “box of anoles” joke! SOME people just lack a sense of humor, that’s all. Amazing collection though! *Addendum;* I heard from a Florida Herpetologist that the invasive Brown Anoles from Cuba are indeed more aggressive than the native Green Anoles. According to him they’ve forced the Greens higher into the canopy to forage making them more susceptible to predation. They fear their population may be suffering as a result. I also saw a Brown and Green Anole mating in one video taken in FL by Jerry Wolfe, Kenan’s buddy... so there’s that.
I really like anoles some day I will get some again. So glad you shared this beautiful lizards with us because I did not know about this little beautys. Just know about brown, green and cubin anoles. Have a great weekend. GOD BLESS 🦎💖🦎💖🦎💖🦎💖
I am so happy to see the Anolis ferreus come in at the end!!! I have a beautiful male at the "Ma and Pa" family owned, 60 years open pet shop where I manage the reptile/amphibian needs. This male is just fantastic, energetic and a beauty. I would 100% recommend this species to the right fit home. Also now I see the Morne Constant anole in the thumbnail. Hahahahahaha
Wow these are my favorite out of all my other replies! Like you said the fun you can do setting up bio active enclosures for them I just got the Bahama brown anole do nothing as beautiful as that but I love anoles now!!
I got one of my knight anoles, a female, to drink from a bowl by putting a bubbler in it. She came down to investigate, figured it out, and continued to use the bowl even after I took the bubbler out. Of course I continued to spray her, but it was very cute to watch her lap up the water and then tilt her head back so the water would go down her throat. The other anole, a male, was too dumb to notice the bubbler.
What a gorgeous Anole Room! I had no idea there were so many different localities. They’re really beautiful. Could I set up one large enclosure, put a breeding pair in there and just let them populate it?
Brown Anoles are definitely a favorite of mine. I used to catch them when I was little down here in Florida and they are still just so much fun to watch. Though pet wise I have to have something I can take out and chill with, so I have my bearded dragon. Cheers!
I like his anole collection but I still prefer a specific wild type of anole we'll I call them ridge back's they look like the sailfin tail Anole but they have it the whole length of they're body not too many of them though kinda rare
I agree with the home depot theory on how fast anoles can adapt to a certain extent, After all there are anoles that can breathe underwater (anolis aquaticus) and it was shown on a national geographic study of how even a 3rd generation can adapt and change if dropped off on a different island, i mean adapt in a matter of a generation or 2!! So is it possible to take for example a brown or green anole and put them into a massive paladarium chamber that would be mostly water and how fast they would learn to dive after small minnows and scuds etc,,, would it maybe a few generations before they would learn to breathe underwather? I dont think they will ever adapt to Minnesota winters!!!! There are some anoles the vermillian or correct me if Im wrong from madagascar that could swim!!! It was some yrs back but met a guy online selling them for 600 each on that reptile trader site!!!! forgot the name!!!
I need help I live in Nederland and I’m interested in anoles but I can’t find info ore breeders. I speak and write Dutch and English I don’t understand German but there is google translate. So when your come to houten ore other conversion let me know. In November im in Germany in Trier im looking for info about anolis garmani , anolis allisoni and anolis pogus ore any other cool anoles. Thank you
Not so much for some of the ones he's breeding, but I understand the reaction at the $600 price tag. Most of these aren't wild caught green or brown anoles. Most of those are species from other countries that almost no one else is working with and the price tag reflects the rarity and them being captive bred. You can't treat a new species of anole being introduced into the hobby like a $5 throw away lizard because of a different species that is native or invasive. With that said though the more people get into those species the more the price will drop as the population establishes into the hobby.
The terrarium "system" looks really cool, but the "decoration" is so poor... I would be completely ashamed of a terrarium looking like these... as well: anoles do really climb and jump a lot, these terrariums a really too small! you should visit their natural habitat... if you don't have the time to care for your reptiles in proper terrariums you shouldn't get so many of them.. =/
Wow what a clean and organized room, he must be really Anole about it :/
Nice! lol
That was a good one 😂
I'm ashamed to say I share your sense of humour!
I see whatchya did there 😅
Hahahaha I'm stealing this for my sales pitch repertoire.
That was my first reptile and my one male was really moody I had them in a 20 gallon tank with 2 types of Pothos
ARMEN. hes awesome. his collection is unreal
Totally agree!
Anoles are often overlooked, and especially the common green and brown anoles, both of which are amazing diurnal lizards with great personalities.
I use to see them so much in Florida. The green n brown ones. Then I got a community of them when I got back home. I think if more anoles like the ones in this video were seen n available more often in pet shops n other places then they would definitely be on more ppls radars!!! Anoles is like that really cool catchy song that i no one really knows about.
I love what this guy does for Anoles. I grew up in South Florida and spent my childhood catching them and they will always have a special place in my heart.
Yay! I follow Herp time and you so this episode is extra special!
That super blue one and that Cuban cliff and the reds omg I'm in love with those
They are incredibly exciting to watch as they jump, hunt and display and you often find babies running around.

I love Armens room. I’ve been following him for about 8 months to a year. His collection has changed so much its mind blowing
Thanks Dāv for doing this video! Anoles have always been a favorite of mine. I'm lucky enough to watch their wild antics in North Carolina. Love the whole Genus

With how quickly anoles can evolve, it’d be pretty interesting to see how far breeding projects can go. There’s so much potential.
Anoles are such interesting lizards. Their colors are gorgeous!
I agree!
We have insane red anoles here in South Florida
I love Herp Time's collection, and he's really helped me see the beauty in anoles. Some day, I hope to have some in a display enclosure.

Thanks, I try!

Saw this guys collection! Amazing!
Right?
He has an amazing collection and I would love to see all of it
Every lizard, snake, and turtle are David’s favorite. 😅

Need a shirt that says, "I'd rather be an A nole than an A hole." 😂
I'll get on that!
Anoles are cool. Great comparison to Salt Water fish.
He's got an amazing collection and a very clean place. Great vlog today and I hope you have an excellent day dāv
Thank you! You too!

Aw, hell yeah. I looove Herp Time!
I feed my mangrove monitor anoles and geckos all the time. They are clearly her favorite food items.
These are some really nice anoles. Never knew they were like this. Great video!!!
Thanks for the footage. Great ideas for herping off the coast of America. Love your shows, there is at least 10 good ones!
What impressive lizards!
How very very cool
Thank you Dav!
#RattleOn
Very intresting episode sir!! Dude really know his stuff!! Bad ass set-up as well!!
The Macuba Anole and Fire Red Anole are my favorites from HerpTime.
We have lots of green anoles on our property here in Alabama. Also lots of 5 lined skinks with really vibrant colors.
🔥🔥🔥
Love this room!
I love Armens enclosures. Where do you get the enclosures from??
I picked up a pair of A. sabanus from Armen at Schaumburg, and they are amazing!
Before I press play I hoping for Anolis ferreus!!!!!!
I had a few as a kid looking into getting a few now doing some research
Yo Armen! Whats up! I like the setups. Martinique is rad. I've been there once.
Been waiting for this
Very cool.

I'm waiting for the Jamaican Twig Anoles to go on Morph Market. I'm obsessed with my Cuban False Chameleons. A miniature CFC? Take My Money!

I love this video so cool
The anole with the salefin may have that because of a swimming adaptation
❤ Awesome
Hopefully I can get my hand on some twig anoles soon
Great video. Do you know what size those herpcult enclosures were
I see anoles just about everyday in Florida. A lot of them are invasive species.
I too am based in LA❤Anoles
Talks about you cant hold them, but can set up beatiful displays...
Proceeds to put one stick per tank
" looks beautiful". 😂
I hate how underrated blue tongue skinks are I think they should be as common as bearded dragons
Bearded dragons are on my radar
They are cool!
You’re a bad ass Dave!
Thanks :)

Wow😋sick sweet man💪. But i live in Norway ☠💩
My mom is from martinique
Would any of these be compatible with red eyed tree frogs? I have a large bio and would like something to watch during the day and eat extra bugs .
My anoles all drink from water bowls no problem
I like anoles but not to the tune of $300 / $600.😮
What does he mean when he says you can't hold anoles? I've held anoles quite a few times.
👍👍👍❤❤❤🐉🐉🐉
Plane crash themed anole tank and name it The Anole Earhart tank?
How do I contact herptime without joining Facebook?
