My male equestris led an emotionally complicated life. He had eyes for his female tankmate (dewlap, dewlap, pushup, pushup) but she would have none of it, started henpecking (anole pecking) him, even taking crickets out of his mouth. He eventually turned an unhappy mottled blue, clinging to the underside of a branch hoping she wouldn't see him. So I put him in a separate tank next to hers. Instantly, he got his mojo back - crawled to the highest branch where she could be impressed, dewlap, dewlap, pushup, pushup. After a while, I put them back together, but no go. He completely wimped out again. So I separated them permanently. But he still had dreams, literally. One time when he was sleeping, he lifted his head off the branch, dewlap dewlap dewlap, then head back down again, eyes shut the whole time. I kind of know where he was coming from tbh.
Anoles becoming more popular makes me really happy for the hobby. Excellent species for the pet trade.
Jon has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to anoles. Super cool to have him on the podcast!!!
Jon definitely has some of the best anole specimens in the states, awesome collection!
Great tour! Jon's the Man! Baracoae, as my icon might suggest, are one of my favorites as well, but I love all the Cuban giants!
Extremely underrated lizards. I can totally see a future where anoles are the new gecko. Such beautiful animals
Jon is one of the most dedicated and disciplined keepers I’ve ever met, amazing tour brotha!
