    How can anyone say Pete wasn't the most talented? He played 5 different positions extremely well, he has the most hits in baseball history and he's a 3 time World Champion and was Rookie of the Year and a 3 time batting Champion. If that's not talented then I don't know what is. RIP Pete 🙏 A true Champion.

    I was never a fan of any teams he played for, but I am a fan of baseball, and he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame without discussion. None of the players I liked growing up who juiced should be there, but he, based on his merits should be. I would rock his Jersey. Long live the baseball memory on the field of Pete Rose which is the only that should count.

      Not the family you should want to celebrate. Narcissist, degenerate gambler, tax evader. Convicted felon. Liar. Cheater. Not sure where the "good way" fits in. Sure, he was a hustler in some good ways and clearly a world class baseball player but rewarding that while ignoring what a degenerate he was as a human being is silly. He got screwed by his lawyers in 1989 because they knew he was lying and Rose was too stupid to realize he was volunteering for a death sentence. He actually thought he would be reinstated a year later without ever answering to any of the charges. Hardly a model citizen a city should be proud of.

    I grew up in the 70s, far from Cincinnati. Pete Rose was a hero to me. He exuded that all-American package of skill, confidence, grit and hustle. I can't believe he is gone. Now, the clock has started ticking on the HOF to admit him posthumously -- because Rose has, in fact, served his lifetime ban. Rose has paid his debt to MLB, and suffered mightily for it. Now, it's the HOF committing the sin of not showing mercy to his memory and to his millions of fans. I don't care if a posthumous admittance is unprecedented or barred by HOF rules. Change the rules, MLB. Show guts. Show compassion. "“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Matthew 5:7).

      Because betting on the games is one thing, which probably shouldn't be so widespread as it is, but betting on your own team while a player or manager is entirely another. It is corruption by definition. Sports betting will destroy all sports at some point and the banishment of Rose is an attempt at preventing the mob from controlling the outcome of games for financial benefit. Note the NBA player who bet against himself recently solely for money and lost his career because of it. When sports bets demand a spread be covered (or not covered) or a player get a hit (or not) independent of the outcome of the game then we all lose. Sadly I think this is where we are headed and MLB (and the others) getting into bed with gamblers is just plain stupid. Money corrupts all in the end.

      The only way you can make that argument is to support honoring criminals while they are in jail. Rose voluntarily chose to ban himself from baseball which by definition makes him ineligible. He cheated. And got caught. After years of lying. And never made amends nor restitution. Two NBA players recently were banned for life for betting on NBA games. This deterrent is there for a reason. With the absurd marriage to sports betting there will be more Rose cases most likely but most will be prevented because the deterrent works. Players know that betting on their own game will destroy them no matter how good a player they may be. Rose had the right to "reconfigure his life" and had he done that he likely would be in the Hall today. But he didn't. Because he's a degenerate gambler and narcissist. Yes, we elected a degenerate criminal and narcissist to the presidency but that doesn't make it right. Rose's records are there for all to see and are openly displayed at the Hall. But celebrating, honoring and rewarding a guy that bet on his own games, a capital crime in baseball circles, and lied about it for 20 years and never made amends is flat out wrong. The only person at fault here is Rose.

    • @Landrew1208
      @Landrew1208 Месяц назад

      You lost me when you called him a "degenerate".
      That is a big judgement to make. Imagine if our own mistakes made the headlines? Especially when the man said he was flat out wrong, and hopes ppl won't make the same mistakes.

    • @BLAB-it5un
      @BLAB-it5un Месяц назад

      @@Landrew1208 Giving Rose credit for allegedly cleaning up his life and apologizing and perhaps even being contrite is to live in fantasy land. Rose did nothing unless it promoted him and financially benefitted him. He died an addicted gambler, a convicted felon and broke. He had every chance to "reconfigure" his life and to re-enter baseball. He chose not too because the addiction to fame, money and gambling, to say nothing of his obligations to organized crime, controlled him and this hardly makes him honorable. He was in every sense of the word a degenerate. Sadly yes this appears judgmental and even condescending. And it is in the end subjective. But we live in a culture that supposedly tries to live certain standards and a life chasing fame and money by gambling and associating with organized crime by most people's standards is in fact degenerate. And I stand by my claim even if it is a judgement call.
