Love your channel and you must realize by now, after seeing how many genres Elvis can sing Majestically in, that is the true GOAT as to being a vocalist!!!
My uncle was in the army with Elvis, same barracks, said he was a really nice guy just wanted to be one of the guys. His manager sent him $1000 a month which he spent on all his buddies.
@@elevenbucks5682 You said that his manager would send "Elvis $1000 a month". But Parker (His manager) did not and NEVER controlled Elvis's personal finances. THAT was handled by his father Vernon. Vernon handled and over saw Elvis's personal finances. Parker received his cut and Elvis received HIS. It was like that from day one. And Elvis was a millionaire when he went into the Army.
Elvis went for many years to fulfill his obligation to do light style movies and left the performances. He was deathly afraid they had forgotten him and hence the 68 special was his comeback to the spotlight. 56 years later he is STILL 🔥 FIRE!
Also, you guys should check out Elvis and the Black Community, Elvis Presley generous heart, Elvis Presley king of kindness and of course countless other songs etc.
He hadn't sang on TV in 8 years and was nervous he didn't have it still.(lol) Meanwhile it was the most definitive live performance in music history. He IS the King!
See Elvis even got himself excited, jumping out of his own chair..So if can't maintain himself, how can we possibly?? One n only, they'll never be another..Love this guy.. Thanks for your reaction..
Was not called the "Comeback Special" until years later. This was a TV special that featured Elvis singing before a live audience for the first time in 8 years. He did movies and albums, mostly soundtracks, but others including gospel albums His last concert previous to this was actually a benefit concert to raise money to build the Arizona Memorial in Hawaii, shortly after his return from a stint in the army.
Some of the Singer Elvis Christmas special was done before live audience (the black leather), but I believe much of it was not. I remember before the special, radio stations in Jacksonville Florida played Elvis for days before the show. It had the highest ratings of the year, and so popular it was rebroadcast the following week.
Elvis ,when he played Las Vegas hotels and gambling bottom line went up 10 percent no one has ever come close to anything like that he bought excitement and fun atmosphere even to the thousands of people who couldn't get tickets but just wanted to be there. I was one.
FYI…The two guys backing him up were old friends that were his original band when he first started out. They almost didn’t come due to their contempt for Col. Parker, but finally agreed to play out of respect for Elvis. The idea for that spot came when the producer of the show found the three old friends in E’s dressing room jamming and telling stories of the “old days”…He had wanted to film them there, but Parker wouldn’t permit it🙄 The part was unscripted and Elvis was incredibly nervous about doing it. But, once they got onstage and started reminiscing…the music started flowing! Can you imagine, it was like being a fly on the wall to true music history….
I’m fifty nine in my life there is no one that even comes close to Elvis and it is because he had the whole enchilada the voice the heart compassion and generosity he gave so much example do you know that if it wasn’t for Elvis the Pearl Harbor monument would not have been completed donated benefit concert 1961 and donated it you should watch documentary a generous heart and the echo will never die. No other artist can compare
Elvis was so good in concert that people would stay at the venue after the performance hoping for an encore until they’d famously announce “Elvis has left the building”.
To continue finding out about Elvis Presley, look into Elvis, a generous heart. King of kindness, Elvis and the black community....many Gospel songs, and the fact that he's on a short list of singers that have been inducted into numerous Halls of Fame!!
The 68 comeback special wasn't a single show. It was more like a full multi set program. This was the jam session part where elvis sang his early songs with his band in a layback environment. There was also a stand up segment where he was alone on stage standing up to the audience and rocking it out. A gospel section where he showed his gospel roots in an 8 minutes monster moment. A tribute to his movie careers with some different sets similar to his films where he sang and acted at the same time And the if I can dream song was the closure
you just had to live in that time from 1st grade 55 til he passed in 77 his voice was always on the radio i was married and had 2 children it was like he was apart of your family all the girls and guys loved Elvis my mother was the same age as Elvis she liked him too it was great living in that time I liked all the music in the 50's 60's 70's it was great.....
There was a documentary just made earlier this year called: "Reinventing Elvis: The '68 Comeback" that's streaming on Paramount+, Prime Video, Apple TV and Vudu. Well worth the watch. It's very interesting to see how what was supposed to be a run of the mill Christmas special envisioned by his manager Col Parker turned into this masterpeice comeback that was the first MTV Unplugged a decade before MTV was even a thing. Elvis had been doing a string of terrible movies throughout the 60s and the producer of the special, Steve Binder, saw it as an opportunity to breathe life back into Elvis' then dying career, and it worked in spades. These 'sit down sessions' (there were 2 of them) came about because in between filming the other parts of the show, Elvis would retreat to his dressing room with his closest buddies and just jam. Binder walked by one time and heard this going on and thought : THIS is what I need to get out there...so instead of trying to squeeze cameras in to the dressing rooms, they decided to bring the jam sessions out onto a stage, surround it with pretty women and let Elvis and his original band mates just do whatever came to mind with only the slightest hint of an outline to follow in case Elvis was at a loss for something to say. I highly recommend watching both the documentary and the whole special in full.
This song and the way Elvis performed it with most of his original group... my oh my they rocked it. I first heard this song in 1976 at only 6 years old. And STILL remember how good it sounded. Sadly, a year later he passed away.😢
This was a tv special with numerous settings.....was 2 hours long. This was set as a jam session with a round stage in the middle of the audience with the fans surrounding them all. It was called Elvis , was later dubbed The Comeback Special because Elvis spent most of the 60's in Hollywood making movies. He got so discusseted with the scripts that as soon as he fulfilled his contract he left and started touring and doing his Vegas residencies pretty much immediately.
The girl in the white sitting close to him is Patty Parry, one of his hairdressers and a good friend. She did his hair for the Aloha From Hawaii concert!❤❤❤❤
i am that old that i remember watching this on TV in 1968 (i was 11) - the show was amazing start to finish - my whole family big Elvis fans and always will be
Elvis was the kind of entertainer that a female would see him and say "Yes". When said said "I didn't ask anything, she would reply that it didn't matter.'
I haven't even watched the new Elvis movie, because I've been a fan since 1955, and I'm pretty sure I already know everything there is to know. The Elvis movie was more for newbies that don't know much about Elvis. I don't even like Elvis tribute stars. Been to Graceland 4 times. I always enjoy the real deal all the time, anywhere, anytime with 600+ mp3 Elvis songs on my cellphone or in my 13X17 Elvis room on my lower level of my house. Tons of albums, tons of cds, tons of dvds, tons of collectibles filling shelves and on the walls.
You have to see the movie! I have been an Elvis fan for 58 years and saw him twice in concert. I thought the movie was fantastic. I saw it 5 times in theater. I never do that. The cinematography, costumes, makeup were startling good. The actor playing Elvis did such a good job. It is 90% about his career. Not his personal relationships. The colonel acts as the narrator. Watching it is like being on a roller coaster. Not a typical biopic.real footage of Elvis is cut into montages of concert footage. An Elvis room. So cool. Since the Elvis movie, I have bought so many FTD albums. I was able to get one that is the actual recording of one of the concerts I was at. I’m going to need an Elvis room soon. TCB.
Elvis was so nervous that he almost didn't do the 68 comback special. He had to be Given a real pep talk to get the courage to go out there. Once he got out there and was able to relax, Elvis made history once again. Elvis was actually very shy and somewhat insecure off stage for the most part.
So happy to see you two reacting to another Elvis performance. He could do anything and sing anything!! The best entertainer ever. Thanks for this great reaction. ❤❤❤
The 68 Comeback Special was a Christmas show to give Elvis a chance to perform live in front of an audience for the first time in 1o years. During which time he had joined the Army, lost hus beloved mother, Gladys, appeared on a special with Frank Sinatra, and made many movies. Most of which were less than magic but made tons of money. During the same period, British Invasion had filled in his absence, and the Summer of Love introduced many more new acts to the music world. Elvis was seen as largely passe by then. The Special was filmed in two parts. The first was in the round as you see here close to his fans, to remind them of his love for them. It would also serve as the basis for the MTV setting of UNPLUGGED in the 9o's that many would use to showcase their popular hits with a stripped down, back to basics approach to their work. The second part was filled with skits and songs to give the audience a look at a more nature performer. It reinvigorated his need to go on the road and perform once again, giving him a rare second career with more hits to sing. As you can see here, his voice is deeper, resonates more, and is more vibrant than before. And once he finished with his movie commitments, he once again went on the road and proved his worth to his adoring fans. He was able to reach the top of the mountain again with his global concert ALOHA FROM HAWAII. But following that triumph, the downside would begin. You should watch these clips from his catalog. TROUBLE / GUITAR MAN is the opening from this special. FAME AND FORTUNE from the Frank Sinatra Show. And the movie version of TROUBLE from the movie King Creole. The clip is 7:15 seconds in length but absolutely worth it. Enjoy
he is the king and will be forever the greatest of all, no one will be like him thanks to him we met all the artists and bands that followed both white and black as well as being the most handsome man with a huge heart who loved his fans very much and who donated millions of money and gifts to less fortunate people especially children for his immense Generosity and humility the greatest musical legend that has ever existed and will ever exist in the world
Check out a video called “I sang with him”. The Sweet Inspirations honestly believed that Elvis was an Angel…I know, but check it out. There were other divine things that Elvis was associated with. I believe it and I’m an atheist. Bottom line…Elvis was, no doubt, a good man.
His voice is always amazing! He can sing high, low, sweet and rock that voice like no one else. It was a TV special after 8 years of movies. He is reminiscing with his original team in this song. Wow! 🔥🔥
Absolute love Elvis of course! This performance cracks me up every single time.... especially when he does 1 little hip move ..then all the chicks start screaming! 😂 ❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
Reason for so called comeback, Elvis served in the Army and bunch of movies before 1968. His manager, Tom Parker aka Colonel setup this special with Elvis. His daughter, only child too born in 1968, who sadly sudden died early this year. Guys with him onstage were the guys when Elvis just starting out at Sun Records. Speaking of Lisa Marie, she and her son, Ben, Elvis' grandson placed at Graceland, her father's home next him and her grandparents.
Another great Elvis reaction! Playing with Elvis are two of his three original band members: Scotty Moore on guitar and DJ Fontana on “drums”. Sadly bassist Bill Black passed away a few years earlier. DJ wasn’t with the band from the very beginning, July 5,1954 ( recording That’s All Right at Memphis Recording Service with Sam Phillips), but a few months later when they met him while playing the Louisiana Hayride. Last time they ever performed together. Elvis’s good army buddy Charlie Hodge on guitar also present.
He would jam late into the morning with these other musicians, who were his original musicians. The show producer went by and loved the energy and wanted to capture the intimate interaction for the show. See the Reinventing Elvis movie about the creation of the '68 Comeback Special. It's fabulous and you learn so much about Elvis, the people around him (Parker; boo), and the making of the show.
You r so 100 percent right about no autotune in those days and this was live all raw talent so happy you guys are appreciating elvis's music ! The one and only the king 👑 ❤love 6ou guys video!❤😊
My mom LOVED Elvis! She was orphaned by the time she was 5 & grew up living with different family members (depending on who had room for her). There was rarely extra money for fun stuff. She worked as a waitress part time after school when she turned 16: the manager of the movie theater next door would come over every afternoon for his coffee break. He would leave her movie tokens for her tip, so she was able to go see all the Elvis movies! She would stay & watch them over & over… My dad took us to see Elvis in concert when I was 7. I’ll always remember!!
Elvis was trying to regain his former glory when he came back from his army stint. This was his reintroduction to his fans. They actually had to go out to the streets to round up an audience. Needless to say this re-launched his career!
there was Elvis and then the others in order or disorder but the king will always remain the king. the greatest singer, performer who has walked this earth.
One of my favorite songs from this special❤❤❤❤ love love love ELVIS❤❤ and also, ONE NIGHT WITH YOU this was a television Special right after he was making movies. And it's the comeback special cus he was going back to making music and doing concerts!❤❤❤❤
The '68 Comeback Special was the first time Elvis had appeared in front of a Live Audience in Ten Years. It was Elvis testing the water to see if he still had an audience.
You should watch his performance of “ Memories” from this same ‘68 Comeback Special that just shows off his soft and beautiful voice in the same intimate setting
Anything in the black leather, click on it!😎🥰
In a hundred years, if someone asks what was so special about Elvis, all they have to do is play this performance.
Love your channel and you must realize by now, after seeing how many genres Elvis can sing Majestically in, that is the true GOAT as to being a vocalist!!!
Elvis was a unique blend of looks, talent and charisma. There will never be another like him.
My uncle was in the army with Elvis, same barracks, said he was a really nice guy just wanted to be one of the guys. His manager sent him $1000 a month which he spent on all his buddies.

.... on a really mellow side of Elvis, from the 68' special : MEMORIES
She would stay & watch them over & over…
My dad took us to see Elvis in concert when I was 7. I’ll always remember!!
Love this performance so much, had to come back and watch again!! Lol it truly is the comeback special😂😂😂😂
Great reaction to the greatest singer/performer ever. Thank you.
Elvis with the Unplugged before the 1990s MTV Unplugged ever came around
Elvis was trying to regain his former glory when he came back from his army stint. This was his reintroduction to his fans. They actually had to go out to the streets to round up an audience. Needless to say this re-launched his career!
He came out of the army in 1960, 8 years before this.

there was Elvis and then the others in order or disorder but the king will always remain the king. the greatest singer, performer who has walked this earth.
Finally people that see the talent in his vocals ability.

I love how aware
he is of his power’s 😂❤
The '68 Comeback Special was the first time Elvis had appeared in front of a Live Audience in Ten Years. It was Elvis testing the water to see if he still had an audience.
You should watch his performance of “ Memories” from this same ‘68 Comeback Special that just shows off his soft and beautiful voice in the same intimate setting
