Would you stay at South Point Hotel?
i wouldn't stay there, but i would go for the buffet.
Maybe for the right price 🤑🤑
Absolutely
we love staying at the WYNN! but great review of south point
South Point is the only hotel we stay at when we visit Las Vegas. Sign up for the Players Card, we use it all the time and our rooms are comped even though we are far from being high rollers. They also have free valet parking, not too many hotels in Vegas offer that.
We only stay at South Point. There is plenty of people watching. Horses, well... Smell like horses but who doesn't love horses. This is our go to place. Can't wait to eat the specials after midnight.
We love South Point!! We have stayed there 3 times and are coming this month. My husband is a bowler and they host the National Open Championship in house. It's really convenient to have bowling within the hotel! We bring our two teenage girls, who love the pool and movie theater. The restaurants are all great! Security is never an issue! We feel very safe and there is tons to do.
I love staying at South Point. It's so much more relaxing away from the busy hustle and bustle of the strip or downtown. I do love the strip and downtown, but sometimes I just want to relax after a day spent on the strip and downtown. Another great thing about South Point is that they have a free airport shuttle for their guests. Your so right about their restaurants being really good for very reasonable prices. My favorite is their steak house. It's so nice and really delish. Thanks for a really good look at South Point. It made me that much more excited about staying there next month.
I love South Point's close-in parking and GARDEN BUFFET's everyday low prices! Their coconut cream pie is addictive.
the shrimp cocktail at 6 in the morning was soooo good - ]
We have been staying there for years. Rooms are nice. We like the hot dogs for a cheap lunch option. The pool is open late, which is great if you stay there in the summer.
I really like Southpoint’s gambling floor as well as their hotel rooms. I normally stay in the king suite and it’s so huge. You’re correct they keep it very pristine there for the type of decor they have. Also to know there’s two bowling centers there one is mainly for tournaments but it’s huge in gorgeous. The Coronado is actually one of my favorite late night eats the service and the food is amazing.
I met the Rubys while they were filming this in during Champagne Brunch at the Garden Buffet. I agree SP is very worth the price. It has a local feel and is way off the Strip. Located at the end of the city so really think about what kind of experience your want. It’s located near a quiet neighborhood. I’ve been here twice for work conventions. The coupon book is a definite need. Ask for it if the front desk forgets. Note about the slippers: They are plush but smaller and don’t fit my size 12 feet.
Mr Ruby: Thanks for recommending the Circa Sportsbook for NFL playoff watching the seat prices were worth the hours of fun.
As a local who plays slots only, I've found the payback at South Point to be about the same as the Strip. I wish it paid better than the Strip, but my experience after almost fifty visits is that it doesn't. I prefer playing slots at the Wynn just because they have a special free play promotion for local residents only.
If you're aged 50 or over, on Mondays you can use your player's club points to pay for meals with only 50% points needed. This is a really good deal.
Since the Las Vegas strip extended to the M, you’re technically still on the strip…
Comparing this 3.5 star resort to anything at Wynn is borderline ridiculous. Lol
@@valentinpineda247 He compared payout of slot machines. How is that ridiculous?
Appreciate the info on Wynn, considering at 635 of video gambling is recommended at South Point. As a former local SP was my go-to for steak and eggs 12am -5am (if I remember correctly) for $4.99 and it is NY strip, and also like their sports book. Playing Video poker at SP never had any luck though. Visiting in June and planning on trying the Wynn buffet, might have to check out the high limit slots at the Wynn. thanks
The slots at Southpiont USED to pay better than the strip casinos. But around 2014 they tightened up the slots.
As a local, South Point is my go-to place. Movies, Bowling, 12 restaurants, great sports and race book, and free parking to boot!
South Point is so underrated. I love that place. Keep up the great videos.
I love this property. Big rooms, bowling alley and movie theater for the kids. Great food as well.
The bathroom shower sound! TOTALLY made my day... so funny!👍🏼🤣
I love Ruby's elevator dance moments (3:10). 💃🏻
I love and have loved the southpoint for 15 years, I'm in my mid 40's now not a senior citizen. 🤣 I started going when my kids hit their teens, they loved the food, bowling, arcade, movie theater and pools. We could go play and drink and the kids did their thing and we got to do ours. Not a huge party scene, but relaxed atmosphere.
Visited South Point for our first time this October (2023) and found the slots very generous and the buffet was a great value. Will definitely be back.
The fact you put a Kenan And Kel clip is so cool lol 😎😎
Lol the shower sounds 😂
South Point was our place when we lived over in the South West part of Vegas. Always did decent with the machines there and they have an old-school machine called Hot Flashes that I can't find anywhere else in Vegas. Love that game. SP is a great place.
We love the South Point. Always have to eat at the Primarily Prime Rib. Huge portions and delicious. There are more bowling lanes in another area for tournaments. The hot dogs are available until 5pm every day; so good!
Hands down, my favorite place to eat and gamble! Coronado Cafe late night specials are top notch!
Glad you found the hot dogs! They are fantastic! One of our favorite restaurants at South Point is Primarily Prime Rib. A big delicious cut of prime rib with potato or vegetable and rolls/butter for $20. You can't beat it! And their poker room is always packed with both tournaments and cash games.
The editing in this video is top notch, Ruby!
I have stayed at South Point. I thought it was fine. I think it is a good option if you want to get off the Strip. I noticed a lot of locals playing there.
This hotel is one of the best there is. I have been coming here for more than twenty-five years. One minor complaint are the resort fees. However if you have a AAA card you will get the lowest price for a room similar to what the video has already pointed out. One other thing they offer free parking. Five star service.
It was built in 2005 so unless you have some type of time warp machine, you haven't been coming for 25 years.
Idk abt u goin for more than 25 years ya time maybe a little off lol this joint ain’t been around that long but yea the value here is dope i stayed there once a few years ago and feel like i got a ton for wat i spent and to me the resort fees are reasonable it’s 27$ a night i was supposed to stay at the Monte Carlo hotel (it’s park mgm now) but i had got screwed over by a travel agency and was scrambling to find a room and ended up at south point and had a ball everything was mad cheap and the rooms were HUGE
I recommend staying at South Point. Every year a group of us bowlers are here for the Military Bowling Tournament in August. We stay for a week and we get our room comp. Plus go into the Executive office and ask for a food comp for one of the fine restaurants. I've been given a food comp from $150 to $400. I give this outstanding casino hotel a 5 ⭐ rating.
South Point has TWO bowling alleys. The regular one, as well as a professional only stadium style bowling alley out by the arena. The bowling tournament they have yearly is the largest in the world, with over 50,000 bowlers It lasts several months, results in 30,000 room nights booked, and is responsible for something like 13 percent of South Point's annual revenue. Yes I work there. Lol
Great info from a proud employee. That said, why does the casino floor smell like a giant ashtray? it's really difficult to play slots/table games for more than 30 minutes, on busy days it's almost unbearable. Yes, some gamblers smoke, but not all do, the demographics are changing so should the Southpoint/Gaughan Gaming. Similarly designed casinos like Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast have similar air quality problems. Pathetic that this is still an issue for casino employees and non smokers in 2022.
@@emailuser8668 I don't notice it, and am surprised given the height of the ceilings. But I have heard that all Gaughan properties past and present have a similar "engineering footprint". So you're probably right.
Does the "regular" bowling alley have pool tables?🤔
The tournament is the largest participant sporting event of any sport in the world.
I think they should ban smoking EVERYWHERE except designated smoking places no where near anyone else. Smoking is vile and i just can’t see why anyone would smoke and smell like a damn ashtray. Disgusting and we all have to suffer because of them. Nasty
Stayed several times LOVE it. Family oriented, Movie theater.
Only 7 miles from the strip. A 15 minute drive. We stay here almost every trip because the rooms are comped.
The oyster bar had the best weekday happy hour specials!!! My go to. When we drive in, I always make sure I make it by 3pm from LA just for the happy hour. The oysters are huge.
Not as huge as yo mama
is there any lobster on the oyster bar?
@@kleptodathief3946 you can get their menu online. They have a lobster sandwich, which I have had, that was good if you like lobster, but it was spice less and not memorable.
I went to Vegas last April and I stayed in the resort next door to south point because I used my military discount which was $400 for the week. I spent a lot of time at south point gambling, bingo and eating at several buffets. I had a great time there and will definitely visit again.
You have a great easygoing personality and I find you easy and relaxing to watch. Good job!
Omg perfect timing my favorite person to watch while I’m procrastinating on my schoolwork 😂
South Point is definitely the best hotel in Vegas I love the Management and employees in the reasonable prices great food definitely 5 🌟 star'
Awesome vlog again Mr
& Mrs. Ruby. Keep up the great content. Love your videos. Viva!
You've been absolutely killing it. You're top 10 restaurant made us book 4 different spots for our trip.
Stayed at SouthPoint for a week in February for the MEX Mobile DJ Expo. It’s large but instinctive. Great buffet, lots of different food options throughout. Bowling alley, movie theater, tons to do.
Quick Uber to Fremont and the Strip.
Love your channel, Ruby! Been following you for some time now. I lived in Vegas over 20 years and had to move last summer. Watching you channel always makes me feel back home there. Thank you!
Thanks Ruby great video! We love the SouthPoint casino now after your video we are definitely gonna stay there next time in Vegas.
You HAVE to try Primarily Prime when you're there! We go there rather than the steakhouse on the first floor. Old Vegas feel, with no pretense. Plus, some of the BEST prime rib I've ever had!
The restaurant, Michael’s at South Point used to be at the Barbary Coast hotel. It’s by far one of the best restaurants in all of Vegas. Very old world Vegas! Absolutely one of the best meals you’ll ever have! We go every time we come to Vegas. It’s a must do!
Staying at south point in may, thanks for the tour! Nice job on the video as always! I can’t wait to try all the restaurants and the pool looks great to get some sun.
You have the best Vegas videos, I love watching your reviews and mr. ruby does an excellent job filming.
Ruby, next time try Del Mar deli in the sports book, awesome sandwiches and huge deserts.
Desserts are wonderful and generous portions too 🧁
I always end up going back! Love the pool, fitness center, SPA (all of the little pool areas in the spa are great as well as the lounge area). Coffee stand is nice and quick, Buffet is great but casino is pretty smoky which I can't stand. So much to love but the beds are a bit hard. You have to switch rooms if you do. Parking is free and right off the highway if you want to go hiking at Mt Charleston which I always do. Scott from Milwaukee
all-time favorite night at the South Point was in 2008 when the Bangles put on a concert at the pool. when Susanna said she should have brought her bathing suit she got quite the reaction. and lots of great concerts in the show room over the years, too many to mention. great sports book and the hot dog cart is something I never miss. great buffet but I can't remember the last time the line wasn't a mile long.
We've stayed there a couple nights. It's a nice place for a one or two night stay and convenient to the airport.
Great Place to stay! First time here was 2010. Loved the fantastic room. Can’t wait to get back there!!!
Thanks Ruby!!!!
Have stayed there several times. Love it! No complaints!
Thanks for the tour. I will add this hotel to my Vegas list seems like a really nice place.
My wife and I stayed at Southpoint on several occasions. Absolutely loved it every time.
I always heard good things about South Point . Thanks for this video Ruby!!
Love to see this! We always start our Vegas Vacation with the champagne brunch because it’s tradition…. But never stayed there. Thank you for your review!
Great vlog very informative as always
Thanks for the info, as I've only ever driven past it. Now I'll definitely pop in for a look around.
Love this review! We go to south point every year for a bowling tournament but usually stay on strip. Always been curious about staying at SouthPoint.
Stayed a few times at SouthPoint and hung out there a few more. Very relaxed. Not for those looking for flash and wow factor. SouthPoint is for those that want to have a true vacation or lower key but fun night out... relaxed, good food, nice sports book, plenty of "area" bars in the casino area, and friendly crowd playing the tables. Lots of special events there, some open to the public. The Casino Collectables Association has their convention there in June. Plenty of freebies and discounts for hotel guests.
Thanks for the headsup on this place Ruby..My wife and I are gonna stay here this saturday for the Labor day Weekend...We have 2 comp rooms at mgm for sunday and monday but everywhere else was super expensive to stay on Saturday..Your review was really helpful in helping us decide where to stay on Saturday
Thank you for sharing ... a place to experience w all the amenities 👍
Ruby try the M Resort for your next off strip stay. I stayed there once and it was one of the most enjoyable stays I’ve ever had even though it’s a short drive off strip there is no issue with it if you have a rental. The suites at the M and the bloody marys at the M Cafe are some of the best secrets ever.
Seconded. The M and Red Rock are two of the best resorts in Vegas. Standard room at M when first opened was the nicest standard room I’d ever seen anywhere with Red Rock’s a close second.
The M is a great room. We had a suite for 4 nights and it was a really nice resort, and nice quiet nights. I slept really good.
It’s less than a half mile south of south point. Practically neighbors. 😊
Thanks for the honesty, Ruby!
Ruby I like how u and ur hubby do Vegas. It’s a lot like my hubby and I. We eat and gamble and explore and gamble and eat and go sit by the pool and gamble some more lol. It’s a more chill version than most who party and club all night. Glad to see someone enjoy all the things the hotels have to offer. Maybe some day we will be lucky enough to run into you
Great video, Ruby! I can remember when the South Point first opened -- originally as the South Coast.
Yep, and didn't have the back hotel section originally. It was just rectangular, but now the building is "T" shaped. I'm an engineer there and some of our original ladders still have "South Coast" spray-painted on the side
I would definitely stay there after your review! Thanks for checking it out. I really enjoy your hotel reviews!
My husband and I stayed there and we ready loved it. They have everything that you can think of. We are going back there again in Nov.!
Thank you for the video we really enjoyed this one
Went there a few years ago. There is a Blue Green Resort hotel connected next door. Went to South Point late night to gamble and have a few drinks. It was pretty nice. We ate there as well - would recommend it. It is off strip but its only about 10 minutes away straight shot downtown.
Free parking - NOT a small thing! I love South Point, it's one of the only joints in town that's both massive and reasonably priced.
My wife and I used to go to the South Point every year for the Glass Craft and Bead Expo (end of March/Beginning of April) (My wife was a fantastic glass artist). Anyway, we loved this hotel. For all the reasons you mentioned and also because you're not bombarded by the craziness of the strip. (though it's close enough you can still easily drive up to the strip if you like wading through the crowds and hucksters). I totally recommend South Point!
I stayed in their king room few years back loved it huge clean room and they had a big leather couch in it as well
A nice review, on a nice, all inclusive resort property! We plan to visit there in the future!
Since Benny passed away they had to find someone else to pose for the sculpture! I happen to know the guy that posed for it and he is a judge in Wisconsin!! Thanks for the vid 😃😃😃
South Point is amazing. Love that place. Coronado cafe has some of the best food prices in all of Vegas after midnight. You get more for your money at that place than just about any casino hotel.
Never stayed at South Point but did eat at Zenshin. Loved it.
I've stayed at the SP a couple of times for Super Bowl (21 years straight) weekend with the boys. I've been to Vegas maybe 30-35 times and SP is one of my favorites. I would stay there again but one of the guys I go with had a falling out with the professional gambler he associates with and through him we were able to get a lot of comps, so no more SP. I love the early morning breakfast at the The Coronado Café if just to people watch. We used to love the Stardust, Rio was okay and the Orleans I'd drink battery acid before I ever step in there again. When the wife and I go it used to be the Mirage, but now it's the Venetian.
Although I haven't been here in a long time. My sister in law is the CFO for this place.
Next trip to Vegas will definitely be at the South Point. Thanks Ruby.
Ruby is made for TV! She has beauty and personality! Love her!! Keep up the great job of informing us!!
I enjoyed seeing them video you two. I know people who are VERY loyal to SP for various reasons like comps and they like the casino there, and basically go once a month, and now I see why. Haven’t been yet myself but I’d definitely consider it if I want to get off the strip.
Love you Ruby. We stayed at the South Point for our sons cornhole tournament. Loved Silverado and Don Vitos. Really great quality dining. We were here in July - it was 110 out. But the pool was inexplicably freezing cold. Other than that, a great stay.
Best video editing yet. Love the hotdogs screen. Great job Mr. Ruby!
RUBY!! WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!! We going to stay there! Hopefully !!we are so excited!! We never go anywhere! So we are excited and living for all your videos!! It's my mini vacations!! ♥ you! God bless you and Mr. Ruby!! We think you are the best! Because you are always so sweet and kind!!!
Great hotel for a photographers budget. Covered some of the NFR and the place is filled with cowboys with great stories. Also the poker room has a lot of tables and the locals that play there are super friendly. I agree with you, very fun place to gamble. Reasonable minimums at the tables. I got to play Roulette with a $1 inside bet minimum. Massive property but very well put together... great video and very great coverage!
This will be our 5th time coming back to South Point. They have the best whole pizzas from the bowling alley. The coupons you get at check in are huge $$ savings. The last two years and they made great improvements to the buffet, its incredible now (use the coupon) Then we can't wait to get the super late night NY strip with eggs. We also hit it for the Porterhouse or prime rib. Food is really good and the staff has always been great!
I'm booked in for a week in November, first time visitor to South Point..can't wait !
10:18 Is that Maynard Ferguson "Soar like an Eagle"? Now that's an unexpected 70's reference.
Wow, I’m impressed. I thought it might be another Station type casino but this video peaks my interest in going for the South Point 400 package. My wife and I are considering the trip in October.
Let me know if you two are going to be there,,,, I can talk cars with Mr. Ruby for hours.
We stayed at the grandview next door to south point but we ate at the buffet there a lot, gambled there quite a bit, definitely an under rated hotel!! Good prices, good food and good vibes!!
Great review hubby and I are staying
At south point mid April first time for
us. I love it already 💚
That pool and spa looked awesome. Just got back from Vegas yesterday stayed 2 nights at Excalibur and 2 nights at MGM the pools at both places were so over crowded.
IDK if it's still in existence but the showroom hosted the Dennis Bono Show (my dad's a Henderson, NV resident whereas I'm from Detroit, MI). My dad & I were frequently in attendance every Thursday @ South Point's Showroom 4 the Dennis Bono Show (he hosted lots of the old-school entertainers such as Clint "Playground In My Mind" House, Deana Martin (Dean's daughter), Tony Orlando, etc.). Tickets were FREE (w/the Players' Club Card).
I love there pool at night it’s the golden color reflection from the glare of the hotel windows
I've been here 3 times in the past 5 months and going again in 3 weeks. For all the reasons stated in this video is why I keep coming back! Personally for me, it is the Face Up Pai Gow and the abundance of Game King machines. One minor gripe was my mother being hassled by some woman wanting money for her fake jewelry near the doors by the self parking structure.
I had my best Vegas trip ever 15 years ago and yes we stayed at the South Coast aka the South Point Hotel👍
Thanks for showing this property Ruby. Thinking of staying off strip next year.
I just gambled there a couple weeks ago and it's a vibrant and thriving property. I'm going back to Vegas is a few days and staying there for a night. I can't wait! I also liked that M&M cookie I bought there! It was as big as someones head!
Stayed at Southpoint for a conference. Not sure what to expect that far off strip, but pleasantly surprised. That deli just off the sport book had amazing desserts. Good coupon book. Used it daily. Uber worked out just fine for transportation. Free airport shuttle a plus. Really enjoyed the casino, theater, bowling alley, my room and the pool area. Nice family vibe to it.
Booked a week there over Halloween because SouthPoint is quiet, 21+, and clean. The breakfast buffet is awesome, get a players card for a $10 breakfast buffet everyday but Sat/Sun.
Other than going to watch Freakmont on Halloween night, we usually stay at the hotel.
REALLY NICE ROOM AND HOTEL. YES I WOULD STAT THERE. THANKS FOR SHARING, KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT JOB 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Another great video Ruby!
I have been saying South Point is under rated for a long time. I stayed there 1 night for The High Roller Horse Show a few months ago, we entered Presley, and he performed great, taking a few of the top prizes. That trip was a rare night not spent at Mirage and I loved it. I went from the airport to SP and back in 22 hours, I never left property and have zero regrets. Great Vlog Ruby
