Ok i love Doom Eternal a lot but this soundtrack alone shows how good Doom 2016 was. It was more atmospheric and mature game.
Same thing if you compare the original Doom and Doom 2.
@@cato3277 doom 2016 was a reimagining of what they wanted the very first doom to be like: darker, scarier, and quieter at times. Doom 2016 felt like what doom 3 should've been. With eternal they wanted it to be more like Doom 2: more open environments, more fast paced, and more colorful.
This game was more nostalgiic as compared to eternal, besides this aspect, eternal is surely a step up from the first game, and it's more arcade style this time
I don't think it is a mature game. I even play this game even though I am not old enough to play it lmao
Doom eternal was supposed to be way more arcade-ish and more like the original doom games.
I wish there was more music like this in Doom Eternal, the really cool atmospheric music of this makes it seem so high stakes and suspenseful
I'm now kinda wish we got scenes like this in doom eternal where there's intense music as we see a villian perform an action that we'd recognize as a shocking event.
that's literallyt what happens before the gladiator fight and funnily enough the OST in that part is also a callback to a classic DooM song

I love how many classic songs made it into the new game, shows how dedicated Mick was to the OST
The man does good work and actually cares about source material. His work on Killer Instinct seasons 1 and 2 was evidence enough of this for me. The guys who replaced him for season 3 just aren't as good.
"You could not have saved them anyway." She sounds like it's not really her that's talking, like she's a vessel for something else entirely talking through her. Besides seeing the humanity fall to the demons at least twice, the Slayer also lost the sentinels. They had been the only thing he had been a part of since the very early days when he found himself in literal hell fighting for his life. All the ripping and tearing and starting to lose his own humanity and mind more and more every day.
I sort of feel sorry for her in a way...Not only is the thing she's seen wearing a literal part of her (titanium exoskeleton grafted directly to her skin and spine causing intense pain to her with every little movement she makes) but she truly thought that the deal would make her a god, only to realize just before she was turned into the spider mastermind that she was fooled.
If you notice the spider masterminds face compared to the Kahn Maykrs true face, they’re almost identical. I think you’re onto something about Olivia being a vessel. It could be possible the Kahn Maykr had possessed her to carry out the plan on Mars.
@@jwilson2793 I think it's more due to the fact that the Maykrs were corrupted by argent energy and resemble demons because of it
The super cool part is - for that brief moment, this is the only moment she sounds like herself. For the rest of the time - she is possessed by hell. Like Samuel Hayden, that seems not that corrupt... at a time. Hell, the dude seems even badass - if stealing energy from hell isn't badass enough, I don't know what is ;) There is the wall at UAC facility (when you meet Hayden) with their pictures. I bet they are all Id Software employees ;) But jokes aside, the UAC people were once human, all of them. No evil scientists. But as they discovered the artifacts, they become corrupt. Devoured by THEM. Our absolute favorite enemy :)

Most underrated 2016 track.
DOOM Eternal needs a moment with this kinda music in it. Bone chillin. Steady bass rise straight from hell. Like inner rage, slowly surfacing.

I played the whole eternal and unfortunately it doesn't have any similar parts. Not even when the doomslayer's true identity is revealed.
This one's actually pretty SUSPENCEful. I dunno, it makes me feel a sense of certain DOOM. And it ETERNALLy haunts me.

When this started to play in DOOM 2016, it was my personal Game of the year, right then and there. The E1M5 call back is so amazing in a way I cannot properly put into words. It already was one of my favorite tracks of the original. Mick Gordon is a genius 💪❤️

Eternal for me had a lackluster presentation to his predecessor, a lacking theme, with a really good but forgettable ost, the DLCs really improved the ost, the atmosphere really way better than the base game, 2016 was just a perfect in presentation, it was a good mix between grounded seriousness, and pure Doom.
Eternal lacks that grounded seriousness that sell really well 2016, but they’re both really Awesome FPS, I hope in the new Doom 3 they Combine both games For the atmosphere and ost.
