Love your reaction. You are the first reactor to single out the word "amputate" and I agree with you. Ren admitted that this was a really difficult song for him to write because it took him back to the start of his illness in 2010, when he had told his mother he was not sure if he could keep on living. But he did. The first time I watched this I broke down in tears, happened each time for maybe 5 times. For me this is the most important piece of art for many many years
I wrote this introduction to Ren when I first discovered him earlier this year, as there wasn’t a Wikipedia entry for people to look him up prior to March 2023. I have posted this info to every “Hi Ren” reaction I have come across since, and I hope it will be of some use to the uninitiated. “Hi Ren” is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered over 8 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on RUclips are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake),” just to name a few. As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”). Also, his collaborations with Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), Orlean ("Jessica"), his former bandmate Romain Axisa (“French Song”), are all great. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are awesome and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," “War Pigs,” "My Generation," "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” “These Boots Are Made For Walking,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. The band performed their last official busking session and gave their last concert in September of last year due to the fact that Ren was leaving for Canada to undergo medical treatment for his multiple health issues, including surgeries. In anticipation of his stay in Canada, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work. Ren has hinted that he might release his newest song on March 29, which is his birthday.
Thank you very much for all of this information! It always feels great to discover new talented artists like him. Thank you also for the song suggestions I will make sure to check them out!
Hi my friend fantastic reaction welcome to ren he is an amazing artist and person have fun with his music it's great love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
Have you come across Marcelito pomoy the prayer live on the wish bus yet worth a look many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
I was also blown away by this video the first time I watched it, not only because it's a brilliant piece of performance art, but also because it really hit close to home. It felt like he was describing my fight with self-doubt and depression when I was young which caused me to give up my dream of being a full-time professional musician and instead pursue a "safe" career....which I have regretted ever since.
Really enjoyed your reaction to this GENIUS. Stick with and you'll see how multi-talented he is. Lots of Reacters, like yourself, are gaining so much from reacting to Ren's talent so it' sad they don't all VERBALLY prompt their viewers to take a minute & subscribe to him. I can't believe Hi Ren, alone, has over 8m views but Ren has less than 1m subscribers 🤔 I'm sure he would feel all the support his art deserves, especially as he's undergoing treatment at this moment for a long standing illness. Looking forward to seeing your next Ren reaction. Cheers 👍🍻
He he calls jokingly his style of Music BARDCORE. I'd say that's 100% correct, His use of visual and Words is like Shakespearean play .Enjoy your trip down his Rabbit hole.
That was a fantastic reaction to such an incredible song. I was totally blown away by it when I first heard it, and to think it was performed live in one take - astonishing
Audio may have been one take, video is not though. Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed it, clarifies that in the comment of Jonathan Hiller's (Filmmaker Reacts) reaction to Hi Ren.
@@hmo_mackey Yes they clearly editted between different performances, as when the camera goes close, and then cuts wide, you can't see the cameraman. But for Ren as a performer, he did it in one go each time. Possibly the monologue was separate, as that's the only place where there could have been a cut.
@@sdrew2lboroacuk Yeah. I've also seen a short clip of Ren performing Hi Ren live on a stage, with two mics for the two characters and just switching between those. Amazing but it was only a clip of maybe 10 seconds, would love to see the whole thing.
I have seen and heard this once before and was awestruck by it. This guy is so talented I can hardly believe it. And the lyrics makes me a bit sad. Mental illness is no joke and he shows so well how horrible inner battles can be. Thank for reacting to this fantastic song. ~ Vals
Ren found the hospital chair on his Hunger video. The Pig mask he found in a junk store and represents greed from governments, music industry and pig pharma companies lying to us. No song disappoints and as an independent artist he's so talented. Samuel Perry-Falvey filmed this masterpiece and took four live takes with close-ups added. This was the fourth attempt 😁 Great reaction 👍👍👍
I love your reaction to this. Ren is a mastermind in my opinion. The first time I saw this video I had no idea what is was gonna be . It unexpectedly hit me pretty hard and my goodness this guy is onto some next material! great reaction and keep it up!
I’m 54 and this video makes me cry every time I watch it and every time I watch a reaction to it…. And then I saw this. Excerpt from an interview with Ren by someone named Ayesha Jones. He speaks for a minute, then sings this song. “Patience” I wept uncontrollably. The song itself is beautiful and melodic. No rap, just singing from the heart. And you can see the struggle in him to say these words. In his heart, he means it, the tears in his eyes says he’s still not sure. It is the most beautiful soul bearing and courage inspiring song I have ever heard. m.ruclips.net/video/284ugnS_ruQ/видео.html
As you seemed so impressed with his singing voice I would recommend chalk outlines live with chinchilla ❤️ For Rap The Hunger Hip Hop What you want Story telling Jenny and Screech full version off his channel 👍 it's better than Netflix 🔥. Oh, wow! I've seen dozens and dozens of reactions, and you are the first one that I've seen that has caught the way he looks to the camera on the word 'dawn.' That's one of my favorite bits of direction in the whole production. Welcome to the RENaissance. ❤ If you'd really like to hear him singing, then you should definitely look up the song Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla. For a showcase of his vocal and instrumental versatility, then you'll want to watch The Tale of Jenny & Screech (full). He also does rap, with just as much versatility. The Hunger, Losing It, Power, What You Want, Genesis, as well as a host of others. They all hit. Another really powerful track is Sick Boi. It's more about his personal struggles and it hits hard.
Yes, thank you for mentioning the eye contact :) I wish it had shown just a bit longer so that people not as alert as yourself catch it. It is so powerful. He can do so many different sounds with his voice and I doubt many can rap as fast as he can. His range of capabilities are beyond impressive. You should check out more of his other things. He is also part of a band, The Big Push, and they do busking and other fun performances, like a Covid era concert from someone's bed. Thanks for posting.

Hello Inna, I heard this song over a month ago and it hit soooo hard for me as I am also a musician fighting a chronic illness. It was as if his words were written about me. I have gone and watched countless reactions to his music and it's like witnessing the first time all over again. I've watched it too many times to count but it seems I always find something I missed, or something clicks and it makes it more profound! I am glad you loved this song also. You really need to do a reaction to the Tale of Jenny, Screech, and Violet's tale. All 3 vides are about the same topic you can click the one that says (full) to see them in order one after the next. I wish you well, and hope to come back for more of your reactions!
my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,, i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining hat i was. trying to do to get help and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard..
You should do his Jenny and Screech Trilogy! Just make sure it's the Full version! It has all 3 stories, in the right order, in one video!! Trust the stranger on the interweb... you'll enjoy his Master Level Guitar and Storytelling!!! Not to mention it covers another topic that is Rough... but Needs to be spoken too!!!

Also, Ren dis this video LIVE. He sang and played the music in the video, it only took 4 takes to get this final version. There were cuts in the video editing just for the camera shots but the audio is all in one! Also, Ren - Sick Boi. I am sure many have filled you in on all his health issues and being signed to a big record deal with Sony but dropped him when he got so sick.
V akej úžasnej dobe žijeme, že? To si myslel aj Sinatra keď naspieval My Way.
Excellent reaction video. You should watch The Tale Of Jenny & Screech ( FULL VERSION ) You have to watch the whole trilogy, in order, to " Get It " ..... ENJOY 🙏
New Sub. If you enjoy ren you should check out his I Shot the Sherrif/Road to Zion/Hip Hop vid. Also, I see you are enjoying Nightwish, Jinger. You should check out In This Moment's song Big Bad Wolf. Another female metal lead...its a killer track. Best of luck in your You Tube journey.
We have the potential for the divine and for sin within us freewill gives us the power to choose. The Devil is "The Accuser" not just before God, for as long as you have consciousness, day & night it accuses your light.
It's a victory dance hope defeated doubt, self love defeated self hate, god/love defeated the devil/accuser. Dance with him if you want it's a victory dance & every day you defeat doubt with hope in your life have your own victory dance in your home.
Not sure about complete defeat. If you notice that during the ending "oo-oo-oo-oo-oos" the lights are flickering, so it's an ongoing battle in a long term war.
@@primemover1416 It isn't even a battle. If you listen closely to that part it is a combination of both the light and dark progressions, making it complete as one song rather a divided piece. If you listen to the monologue at the end, this is where Ren learned it was a dance and stopped fighting it.
@@primemover1416 I didn't say winning dance i said victory dance war is fought through many battles each battle has a victory and a defeat in this battle he is the victor but the war goes on. I come from the infantry we know the difference between winning a battle and winning a war.
If you wanna to hear his singing voice you should check the song of The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. I will not be disappointed. Обещаю :)
Hi Inna i would like to introduce new artist for you her name is Morissette Amon hope you notice ❤she reffered as Asia’s Phoenix well known for her powerbelt/whistle/vocalfry and many more . u can start with her wishbus live performances like Never enough and Riseup or native languange orig song Akin ka nalang and many more video performances. dont forget the 2017 asia song festival performance if u start reacting to her its a must and pls watch the full video she can sing different genre. it feels like listening to all iconic divas in one person. new subs here will wait for ur reaction thank you!!
I don't consider this a song but an artistic performance that can't be replicated or copied I know of at least one cover but I can't get myself to watch it: it is Ren's story, not the cover artist's story.
I really appreciate how you used a large video insert of what you are reacting to, very good placement and size, but please turn off RUclips's terrible Auto Generated Closed Captions, they are always Wrong and Annoying! Nice reaction otherwise. 'Sick Boi' which is queue up at the end goes into his Lyme Disease and what he suffered from years of misdiagnosis, medical mistreatment and abuse where they told him it was 'all in your head,' gave him psych meds instead of treated the infection, there can be mental effects of drugs, but just Lyme alone can attack the brain causing psychosis. An 'Easter Egg' in this video is the back of the wheelchair labeled 'L.D.' for Lyme Disease. Will see if you've check out 'Sick Boi' or the works about his childhood friend in 'Suic*de' and 'For Joe' which also explain the title of his first album 'Freckled Angels.' If you get to the masterpiece trilogy that he and his videographer friend did, only react to the full work 'The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)' which also contains the final work 'Violet's Tale' in that order. For his more social justice works, see 'Money Game part I,' and especially 'Money Game part II' the Lyric Video version.
His artistic music is what the world needs. Good to see someone who enjoys it as well. I enjoy finding new youtubers ,to me,and being a subscriber. Here is 1 more sub towards your 100k.🤜🏼🤛🏻👍👍 Sharing is caring.

7:21 Yeees, so so powerfull!
You are amazing mat6!
That man in the pig mask is Blizzpig from the band Evil Blizzard. You should check that band out as well - preferably something live.
Loved your insight and reaction. Ren categorizes his music as Bardcore. Please try 'Jenny and Screech Trilogy." It's storytelling gold. Subscribed. 😊
This is the most powerful song ever done .
It is very powerful!
welcome to the RENaissance!!!!!! Please check out chinchilla. She recently went independent has project coming soon. Please check out Fingers live version
Please do Rens & Chinchilla live version of chalk outlines. Then Chinchilla’s live version of fingers. Is my favorite vocal performance I heard in years. They both are unicorns! Talent is mythical creatures lol
I wish you well, and hope to come back for more of your reactions!
my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,,
i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining hat i was. trying to do to get help and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard..
Thank you for the suggestion 😊
#renergy spreading
Ren does a duet called "chalk outlines" that I believe u would love bc it showcases his singing ability

RUclips is how he learned guitar
please do Ren X Chinchilla - chalk outline (live) It is equally powerful and showcases his singing voice
Ask him out.. .I see you and Ren as a beautiful couple
Man can sing sing lol. Watch I shot the sheriff by ren
Where are you from an where do you live love your view on this song is beautiful I would to get to know you more
Great reaction. Have you heard of Angelina Jordan? 🎷🎶
😂, he's having a conversation with himself. Well yeah, he's alone.
WHO ARE THE STUDENTS!!?!?!?
No win. Just like he says at the end. An eternal dance. Pendulum swinging from dark to light. He learned to dance with it and relax
@@andrewwright5407 Yes win. It's a victory dance for the battle, the war never ends, but if you don't celebrate the battles you win... that's a loss.
If you wanna to hear his singing voice you should check the song of The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. I will not be disappointed. Обещаю :)
Thank you for the suggestions!
Hi 👋 could you do the tale of Jenny and screech (full) by ren please 😊
Hi Inna i would like to introduce new artist for you her name is Morissette Amon hope you notice ❤she reffered as Asia’s Phoenix well known for her powerbelt/whistle/vocalfry and many more . u can start with her wishbus live performances like Never enough and Riseup or native languange orig song Akin ka nalang and many more video performances. dont forget the 2017 asia song festival performance if u start reacting to her its a must and pls watch the full video she can sing different genre. it feels like listening to all iconic divas in one person. new subs here will wait for ur reaction thank you!!
G'day love, you have kinda fallen into the Ren rabbit hole about half way through it , dear god an depression are better ones to begin with
Play the video talk later 4:06
try nf "hope"
I don't consider this a song but an artistic performance that can't be replicated or copied I know of at least one cover but I can't get myself to watch it: it is Ren's story, not the cover artist's story.
didv you cry
Will see if you've check out 'Sick Boi' or the works about his childhood friend in 'Suic*de' and 'For Joe' which also explain the title of his first album 'Freckled Angels.'
If you get to the masterpiece trilogy that he and his videographer friend did, only react to the full work 'The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)' which also contains the final work 'Violet's Tale' in that order. For his more social justice works, see 'Money Game part I,' and especially 'Money Game part II' the Lyric Video version.
His artistic music is what the world needs. Good to see someone who enjoys it as well.
I enjoy finding new youtubers ,to me,and being a subscriber.
Here is 1 more sub towards your 100k.🤜🏼🤛🏻👍👍
Sharing is caring.
Thank you very much 😊
@@InnaSoloMusic sharing is caring.😁😘
