    I almost forgot what a great fielder Andrew Symonds was! Tells you about the quality of this great Australian side because all of their players were exceptional in the field.

      Symonds up to the level of khỏng Rhodes and ponting the greatest all round fielder and not to forget they had Michael clarke and even Brett Lee being one of the fastest bowler in the world used to slide

    RIP Andrew Symonds, you were a cricket icon when I was younger. I'll never forget the moment you cleaned up the streaker or when you hit the ball into Michael Clarkes pad and got caught out and then told him that he owes you a beer and laughed.

    As a young (kid) Indian cricket lover I hated him. And today as a grown up I can't admire him enough. One of the best . I actually hated how good he was as compared to the contemporary Indian Fielding. Legend !

      @@adityeaah No they dont, players can bowl, bat, but not many can be a brilliant fielder on his level. In world cricket at the moment not one is as good an allround cricketer,he could take an attack apart then field like a ninja running people out and take a brilliant catch along with taking a couple of wickets in the same game.

    Andrew Symonds was a part of a team which was easily able to score 300 or 300+ in an ODI match when scoring 250 was considered an achievement.
    One of the best teams I've seen.

    I remember him for the power with which he used to hit those sixers. A very handy all-rounder for Australia. Thankyou for all the entertainment. You will be missed. RIP

    Ricky ponting said symonds was the best fielder he ever saw which for a career like his is high praise indeed. He was super in the field, quick, athletic and didn't miss too often

    I love Symonds... He was one of my favorite cricketers during his time even though I hated the Aussies as they were winning everything.. Love from India..

    Another player who wasn't around much for T20. IMO, he's perfect for T20 (as well as 50 overs ODI). Big hitter!! Awesome fielder and can also bowl 4 overs.

    Never even mattered what side of Roy the ball was hit or how hard, NOBODY could turn themselves inside out and still knock the stumps down like him. Such a huge powerful athlete yet so quick and nimble.

      They can only show footage of those runouts which were played in Australia uttappa runouts cannot make it to the list because it was did in icc tournament and star has copyright to display for even a 5 sec video on icc events

    He is the Best Fielder EVER to play the beautiful game of Cricket 🏏!!
    He was absolute Killer in and outside the 30 yard ⭕️ circle. His throws were rocket 🚀, He was bang on target 🎯 99 out of 💯 times and He can field anywhere in the field, whether it was slips, gully’s, covers, point or square of the wicket (both sides).
    He was a Phenomenon.

    During early 2000s , I was like please somebody beat Australia. They were magnificent in all aspects of the game. I don’t know why Australia don’t produce consistent players anymore. Miss you symonds. Thanks for the wonderful memories. RIP . Love from 🇮🇳

    The perfect blueprint of a cricket player. Solid with the bat in the middle order, could pick up wicket with a spell bowling and athletic and accurate in the field.

    There are fielders who are good at diving and stopping the ball from boundary inside the power play. But there is Symonds, imp who is above all the fielders for his ability to hit wicket. If you notice his runout in the clip whenever he has to hit the 3 available stumps, he would hit only the middle stump. Such is his accuracy.

    There are some great fielders going around these days, but I feel like no one throws the stumps down like Symonds or Ponting did anymore

      The thing was, we always heard about Ponting and Rhodes, but Symonds just seemed to pass the radar. A bit like Mitchell Johnson, two big super fit guys with rocket arms.

    I'd say that Symonds was the most agile and intimidating all-rounder after Beefy! It seemed that whatever he was doing, he was doing it with brute power. What a cricketer! (And of course, what a team that was!!!)
    The other all-rounder Andrew of that era, Andrew Flintoff, was also a powerful bloke. But he was more boyish, rather than intimidating.

    People who never watched games with Symonds in the field probably will never truly understand how good he was. The amount of runs he would save chasing balls or cutting of runs in the infield or boundary was amazing. He could field in any position, had some of the best hands ever, one of the strongest arms ever, and was incredibly accurate. There are a lot of fielders with better highlight reels (Ponting, Rhodes etc), but imo Symonds was as good as any of them.

      I agree. Consider that most of the best ever fielders were generally smaller , very nimble people. Symonds was huge in comparison, yet was super quick and as you said could field anywhere. His throw was just as deadly from the boundary

    Rhodes revolutionised fielding, Roy took it to another level. Could field anywhere on the cricket ground and be amazing at it and had the best throwing arm. He and Punter were next level!

    There's very little I can think of that's more exciting than watching Roy in full flight with the bat or ball. Or dropping that streaker at the Gabba. Love and condolences to his family and friends.

    You would expect someone of his physique to be just a decent fielder...but he was a gun in the field.
