1. Pay the contractor for, and expect, professional Preconstruction work. The A/E teams aren’t working for free, stop making contractors do it. You get what you pay for. 2. Make AEC team actually coordinate during preconstruction. Don’t draw plans for 6 months and throw it at the GC to price in 2 weeks. 3. Contractors need to improve their capabilities and knowledge base. A GC may just have a big enough wallet. Doesn’t mean the guys they hired have any idea what they’re doing. More education, not less

GCs are your staff. GRs are things like your trailer, fence, etc.
