The original FMA was started while the manga was still airing, and it eventually caught up to the manga, so it just did its own thing after that. FMAB follows the manga the whole way. But both anime are very similar at the beginning, with the original being a bit slower.

the suit was there when they were prepping the transmutation ingredients it was part of the decor , and no he sacrificed his leg for the transmutation and his arm for the soul binding and that's the rule of equivalent exchange

Just a heads up, this anime assumes you've seen the original anime, and so the first 10 episodes are condensed. In the original (and in the mango) the first arcs are a lot more drawn out, but this one just wants to get straight into the section that separates it from the original anime. That's why they sometimes do a bit more jokes etc.
It's a bit of a shame, but once this anime catches up the pace gets WAAAAAAY better, enough to rank it the #1 anime.

the anime is 15 years old but it is based on manga and the manga released in 2001, furthermore it was published in a magazine that the demographic is for teenage boy so there will be some jokes that didn't age well and some just outright cringe, but the story still holds up and the major characters are well written too.

Since you mentioned One Piece, don't forget it receives a remake done by Studio WIT.
And yes FMAB is a remake aswell, unlike the original it follows the Source-Material (Manga) closely.
