So helpful! I just swapped out a damaged door and had to swap over the handle, window, mirror, speaker. I would have been so confused trying to put the trim back on but it wasn't so bad with this video.

So anyone about to comment I did this and now the doors won’t open (I did the same thing 😂) don’t pull your seat out either just remove the 7 mm near the door handle and it’s going to take force but pull the top of the door till the clips come out then take a pair of needle nose pliers and give the line a tug and keep trying to open the handle and then the door will open. The problem was that I didn’t clip the line back in the proper spot which caused slack and wouldn’t activate correctly, I hope this helps
On these 2016-21 malibus do you by chance know if the door lock switch has do be removed without having to remove the plastic welds from the housing bracket?
@@raiderman28 Ah, that explains some things: I found 3 torx screws that were holding it in place: 1 on the interior side of the door frame and 2 hidden under the window seal. But even after removing all 3 screws it still won't come out. I figured it must either be adhesive or something like double-sided tape preventing it from coming out. I'll keep investigating. Thanks though.
I just so happened to tint my windows and the cable to the door handle disconnected when the door was closed. Any ideas how I can get to that cable with the door panel being 1 whole piece and the door is shut? Im thinking of trying a hanger tomorrow but looking at this video that may be hard and i dont wanna cut thru the door i just got the car, any ideas anyone?
Sounds like you didn’t attach the door handle cable correctly or door lock. You created a pretty big problem. Your going to have to remove the door panel again. But in order to do that you need to open the door. Without the door being open, your going to have to remove both front seats through the the opposite side of the vehicle. Make sure the car battery is disconnected, because some seats have air bag lights , and you can trigger them. So you want to make sure to move the seat back and forth and take off bolts, but do not disconnect wiring, until battery is disconnected. Then remove one seat then the other. This way you have room to remove the door panel. Hopefully you don’t break anything taking panel off. Once you get panel off, you can try and see whats not connected or if a cable is broken. Did you try hitting the remote unlock button and then open the door from the outside???
Can anyone please show how to insert the door handle on this car? It has a wire for keyless entry and I don’t know how to insert the wire because there’s zero videos on RUclips.
It will be very very difficult to remove the door panel to get to the inside of the door. I usually recommend pulling in the front seats from the opposite door to make room. You also want to disconnect the battery just before unplugging any yellow harnesses under the seat, if it has them. This are air bag plugs and you don’t want to unplug them while the battery is hooked up. It can bring on an air bag light. Once you have the seats out of the way, start to take apart the door panel and try to get it off. You might want end up damaging the door panel alittle in the process, but you need to get it off, to see why the door won’t open. Once the panel is off, hopefully you can tug on the cable to open the door, make sure the door is unlocked. Good luck
I just did this, having someone to help is a big plus. Unlike other cars, the window isn't bolted in but has clips. I lowered the window most of the way, pulled the clips a bit apart and the window pops out. Once you have the detached window out a bit, tilt it to one side or the other until it is free of the tracks on the sides.
Does anyone know the name of that little “panel” at the very beginning of the video inside the interior door handle im missing it on my Malibu and I’ve been searching for replacements but I can’t find the name or anything
If you remove the one for the rear door, it has a part number on it. I believe the front and rear door access panels are interchangeable ( so they use the same part numbers
Trying pushing the unlock button on the drivers door or passenger switch. Hopefully that will work. Make sure the rod is coming out of the hole on the top of the door panel
WHY chevy make there tin like doors so complicated to take off.... Ford is easier to deal with.. Christmas 🎄 that mess up when you pop the door off and just replace them....LOL

This works from 2021-2023 Malibu. I ended up buying a package of red clips from dealership for further panel removals

Not sure. Have not taken that area apart. Usually the actual switches should come off , just a pain to take out

Come to think of it, most of those have double sided tape from the manufacture. Many people wrap them or have them repainted

You should be able to unlock it from the outside with a key or remote and still open it from the outside.
I followed these instructions & it worked out, but now that I put it back on I can’t open the door from the inside or outside? Any advice?

My door latch came undone after i closed the doors. Won't open inside or outside

On the chevy trucks you can, but on these i have tried to pull back and they are super hard and have not been able to.
@@raiderman28 you just need two tools when prying Jeff Welch does them daily....he knows his stuff....join these group tons of information....
@@raiderman28 use one tool to pry and metal screw driver on top with pressure to pop clip....
@@JBIRD575 i gave actually remove some of the older chevy cars with 2 tools, but found it a bit easier to do it this way for me.
