Tony is a real classic. He's a funny bloke too but c'mon, Tony, get with the program. 1) A 2022 Porsche 992 Carrera GT3 RS is good. 2) A 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera RS is great. 3) A Porsche by Singer is best. Don't believe me? _"... and on the seventh day God looked down from the heavens upon the masses of automotive mediocrity. None of what He saw pleased him; not Ferrari, Rolls Royce, not even a donkey.... so God stretched his arm down to Earth and touched the hand of Rob Dickinson. Alas, Singer Vehicle Design was born.”_
That video was brilliant Sam! Loved the energy between you, Tony and the cars. You were really convincing Tony of the classics and he was fair enough to admit it. Brilliant fun!
Honestly you’d be amazed how capable a well sorted 964 can be even when compared with the modern stuff. A Carrera 2 or even 4 with well sorted suspension and some engine mods will surprise you with what it can do and how fast it can be on the road.
That was my favorite STG video of this year. All those podcasts going on about how much he could care less. It was so fun to see him behind the wheel of a good classic and giving it stick and enjoying it.
Best video yet, Tony is right, 200k is silly for this. Everything you both loved about the car is true in the base carerra 964. This car is for rich collectors who like to own something special. If you want the driving experience of this. Get a 993 or 964 Carrera S.
I don't listen to the podcast so have no idea who Tony is. At first, I am thinking "who is this guy??!!" then slowly but surely I warmed to his enthusiasm, his mad laughs and the banter between you both. Such contrasting people, but with one common passion, albeit with a different flavour (classic vs modern!). Stunning car and entertaining video. Thanks!
That was great Sam, and I guess that is the closest you will ever get to encouraging Tony to get excited about a classic! For me, it would be a 993 (preferably a GT2 - I know crazy money these days (due to the ruddy investors). Or a much earlier 911 S/T. No water cooled Porsche would ever make it into my garage.
I've never gotten so much joy from seeing someone happy compared to seeing Tony happy. His laugh just brightens up my day, legend. Please let him know how happy he makes your fans.
As a longterm owner of a 964RS I would say that your experience of the brakes is not representative : you have 3.3 turbo brake callipers on, on a car that is only 1225kgs. These cars have massive brake feel and it is one of if not their strongest point
Superb video and one that showed perfectly why people drive different cars. Tony summed it up, “you buy and drive a car for what you want it for”, it’s as simple as that. I’m more of an Italian car guy but I’ve got a soft spot for classic 911’s. All that said regarding new car vs. modern classic, it would be interesting to know how much the chap who bought and resold the blue Mercedes GT to Tony either made or lost in that year of ownership.
Distinguished gentlemen, an awesome video! An extra hurray for Tony, he is a trooper. STG & Co travelling the world, that is excellent to see, thank you.
You're comment about the size it spot on; it's amazing how small these are compared to modern cars. Dad has a 993 Carrera S and a 964 Carrera 4, and both look so small even compared to my 2019 GTI, especially once you get in. And the 964 is so much more narrow than the 993. Living in Texas, with so many stupid big trucks, the positive about driving the 964 is that it nearly fits into a U.S. parking spot with loads of room on both sides for those fools who just swing their doors open.
My father owned a 1992 964 RS silver, bought used in 1996 with 28.000km, we sell it 10 years ago. Honestly 200k euro is too much for this car, i agree 120-140k is a good range. About confidence on driving it...it depends on how much trained you are and i mean not only as a driver but physically, windy or mountain roads can kill your neck, shoulders and arms in a few kilometers if you want to drive it properly. By the way, i loved this car, i cried the day we sold it...the best car i ever driven, the closest to a proper race car and one car that everyone must drive once in a lifetime. Thanks for this nice video!
I’ve had both. A well sorted and modified 964 and own an RS. The RS is special. It is what I was trying to build. The price comes with the limited number of RS’s built and that it has the RS label. Believe the “true” labeled RS since the 73 model. I know there was an SCRS but they made like 20 and it’s more race themed like the 964 NGT RS. Surprised it’s only $210K. Must have higher miles. Brakes on the RS are amazing so for the example you drove they must need replacing. Thanks for the video.
This was a good video. The 964 and the 993 are my favorite generations of the 911. The RS there is brilliant. I would actually say that Tony doesn't get real drivers cars. He's always talking about flappy panel gearboxes and these things. Anyone can can push a button to change gears. A analog car like the 964 there is much more engaging than anything Tony mumble on about. Nice video though.
Loved this video. It would be the RS for me any day if I had 200K to spend over a new supercar. This is the beauty of the hobby, we don't all have to want the same things but we are still tied together as enthusiasts. Keep up the good work.
Your episodes are always hilarious when you have Tony on ...really enjoyable! Like many other viewers have commented, you both complement each other so well
As a sometimes watcher of your channel, I have to say this was great!! I watch behind the glass more, and then wanted to see this! Tony adds so much value even if he is a (stubborn old man)😂🤣 great content! I will be back all the way from Australia!
That’s one great video! Lovely to see honesty from both modern and classic lovers with valid points from both sides. I have a 964 C2 manual coupe with a few mods so not sure the RS is worth the extra cash….but the RS is still my dream motor. Keep up the good work…and keep it fun👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
I’m a huge follower of your channel and podcast and I heard on your latest you plan to go back to one video a week. I personally love your content and wish you could keep the twice a week schedule. The uploads are quality and I have no problem “keeping up” with your material. Obviously if you think your videos suffer in quality by the multiple uploads then I get going back to once a week but if you can swing it my vote is in for keeping it twice a week!
Best combination of two characters to watch on RUclips. The opposite thoughts on different things just makes for better viewing. Keep it up guys. Love it 👌🏻
It's great to see Tony enjoying a classic. I can see Tony's argument - maybe the classic for him is something he'd drive for a day out with Sam in the UK.
A 964 RS not only out-performs most other cars on the road, but it will out-perform pretty much all other cars in the appreciation stakes ($$ as well as literally)! Sadly I sold my 964 about 10 years ago, thinking it was awesome to own for 2 years and sell for what I paid for it. Had I held on to it, it would have possibly tripled its value since then. Despite all that... it's an RS. Oh loooordy - I want one! Great vid - great characters and cheers from your colonial off-shoot here in Oz - Dave :-)
There’s something hugely satisfying about watching someone enjoy something they don’t usually like. Cracking content as always - more of Tony driving money pits please. Also a great segue on BTG to get subs up to 50k and beyond 🚀 - you legends deserve it! P.s. Get your leg sorted uncle T.
What a great subject for a pair of car lovers to debate! I love the idea of a classic, but having driven a perfect 964, I’m with Tony on this. Classics are beautiful and characterful, but I love driving at 10/10ths on track and old cars just don’t give me confidence…
I've been lucky enough to own a regular c2, and rs america and now a carrera rs. The RS is head and shoulders above those cars. Agile, raw, light, darty. One of my favorite cars Ive ever driven.
Loved this channel, and the behind the scenes RUclips / pod. These videos with you and tony are just so good. One of my favourites so far. Tony, just buy the Porsche - you know you really want to! I even promise I’ll go along with the story it’s just stock if he finds out!
Great video Sam, I can feel the soul of the 964 rs coming through my screen and I have never even driven an aircooled model. One slight correction: there was no 964 c2s, there was a 993 cs2 and c4s though 😊
Sam, if you want to compare a 964RS to a sorted 964C2 you’re welcome to try my guards red modified example. It looks identical to this but with 305bhp, 993 6sp gearbox, 993 turbo brakes, Bilstein suspension, etc. There’s plenty of well sorted C2’s offering the experience at half the cost of an RS. Great video btw. 👍
That light blue 280 sl pagode was phenomenal. We have a white coupe with a red interior. Still everything original. And btw that red dial speedy is nice as well. Actually i also got the same schumacher edition just with with a yellow dial. Fabulous watches Greetings from germany 👌🏻

paypal kicked them off, ask them !
Tony’s face during the rolling shot is priceless. Great content as always Sam!
So good right
Mate them shots are absolutely hilarious he looks like MR Bean on his summer holiday
💯😂
Tony's laugh is contagious. Such a fun dude. Great video!
Tony is such a genuine mate ! Love his reactions ! You both are great together ! Cheers !
Thanks for watching
You two are closer to a Top Gear replacement than anyone else has been! Love it! STG, you’re a treasure mate!
Haha. Very kind of you to say. Just having fun
Always a good day when seen through glass uploads
Thanks for the suppprt
15:55 one can literally hear Tony's laugh 😄
That video was brilliant Sam! Loved the energy between you, Tony and the cars. You were really convincing Tony of the classics and he was fair enough to admit it. Brilliant fun!
Thanks for tuning in buddy
Honestly you’d be amazed how capable a well sorted 964 can be even when compared with the modern stuff. A Carrera 2 or even 4 with well sorted suspension and some engine mods will surprise you with what it can do and how fast it can be on the road.
This is a cool change of pace. Really lovin the content lately. Keep killin it!
Thanks dude
Yall are fantastic together! His laugh is infectious!!! This is one of my favorite vlog videos of yours!
Great to hear!

I’m really coming round to 993s. But you’re right, I’m not sure I’ll be getting Tony in a classic again
Try a 996 or 997 GT3. They have real that actually like revs.
An early 996 is a far better drive than a 993 always makes me laugh the water cooled prejudice
I do love a 993 though
Great to see these reactions. I’ve got faster cars than my 993 RS but the driver interaction and the sound is just such an event.
Awesome content Sam! keep them coming!
Trying my best
There is such genuine feeling of excitement and joy that comes through in all of the recent videos. It bursts out of the screen!
I've never gotten so much joy from seeing someone happy compared to seeing Tony happy. His laugh just brightens up my day, legend. Please let him know how happy he makes your fans.

these two together just make me smile. could watch them all day, proper telly magic. great vid.
Wonderful content
Wonderful duo. 20min mark conversation and laughter was a great moment between mates caught on camera
Miles in front of all the other car RUclipsrs …. No clickbate just pure car enjoyment and anything featuring Tony is always a bonus 👍
MEGA video Sam!! For regular viewers, this means so much! What a surprise for Tony!
A delight to watch!
Superb video and one that showed perfectly why people drive different cars.

15:18 I love the nervous look after he realised that what he said is very true and could possibly happen.
Excellent fun seeing you and Tony in the RS
I for one will miss the 2 vids a week. Plus the podcast, I was loving the extra content. Excellent channel.
You two as a duo is just so good for content, always a balanced argument… Even if one voice tries to be louder 😂
Haha. Always shouting over each other
Distinguished gentlemen, an awesome video! An extra hurray for Tony, he is a trooper. STG & Co travelling the world, that is excellent to see, thank you.

It’s great having the different perspective, great team!
Your episodes are always hilarious when you have Tony on ...really enjoyable! Like many other viewers have commented, you both complement each other so well
Good series to continue - get Tony to drive a 993 RS, 996 RS, 997 RS on camera.
STG content (+Tony too) is top tier. My favourite currently
Tony is awesome!!! Such an entertaining guy! Great video as always!!!!!
Next time you are in the Netherlands Sam, you need to check out Gallery Aaldering. Another great place for classic cars
As a sometimes watcher of your channel, I have to say this was great!! I watch behind the glass more, and then wanted to see this! Tony adds so much value even if he is a (stubborn old man)😂🤣 great content! I will be back all the way from Australia!
Tony has a great sense of humor!!!!!!
Unfortunately you’re right
Amazing to see Tony getting excited about this 964!
Who would have thought!
My 2 favourite stooges on tour...Best content of 2022 so far...
Great to hear!
9.5 out of 10 for this one Sam. You pulled one out of the hat with the Porker and certainly got Tony all hot under the collar.
Once again, great video Sam! Tony's AMG GTR also looks great in that blue shade.
Stunning colour!
Wow! Love Tony's reactions throughout the video. Great video Sam❤
Best episode in 2022!
Full marks Sam.
Appreciate it.
crazy how on some topics, sam and tony are worlds apart, but damn this makes their chemistry so so good!! keep up the great content sam!!
Ha, glad you enjoy it. We argue like a married couple
WOW! Sam + Tony = Chaos!! Brilliant.
Behind The Glass on tour!
I see Tony in video, instant Like! Great chemistry there
I'm so glad my little country gave you and tony so many great experiences haha
Mega, I've been waiting for this partnership on video 😄
One of my favorite videos from Sam. I really liked this video
Awesome to hear

Clever edit at the beginning with Tony and the VW camper. So many “first” reactions 💪
Love this video and Tony soldering through his football injury...well done and cheers guys...From California
Finally a video with Tony!

Good to see Mr. Tony back on the channel !!!👍🏻
Tony is pure gold. You two are a match made in Scunthorpe. Love the chemistry
Tony and Sam, Martin and Lewis, Abbot and Costello. These two blokes together always make for an interesting and entertaining conversation.
Best combination of two characters to watch on RUclips. The opposite thoughts on different things just makes for better viewing. Keep it up guys. Love it 👌🏻
Tony is a really nice person. Love his energy.
It's great to see Tony enjoying a classic. I can see Tony's argument - maybe the classic for him is something he'd drive for a day out with Sam in the UK.
Yeh but he says that’s the only occasion!
@@seenthroughglass Well he's got a car for 2 trips to Europe a year, why not have one for a few days out in too? 🤣

At 16:54 when Tony tells you "you can't drive!"..that is hilarious.! just pure classic ..when he has you defending yourself..:)
What a great subject for a pair of car lovers to debate! I love the idea of a classic, but having driven a perfect 964, I’m with Tony on this. Classics are beautiful and characterful, but I love driving at 10/10ths on track and old cars just don’t give me confidence…

Fantastic video. Sam, Tony and a 964 RS. True car passion on YT. 👏👌
Enjoying these road trips and the banter between you both !!
The ultimate duo. Can't wait for more road trip content

There should be more two-take style reviews with Sam & Tony, as always the chemistry is so good
This was like Behind The Glass but even better! Really enjoyed that one.
And still! The best automotive RUclipsr. Great video Sam, Tony cracks me up.
Okay. The two of you together are brilliant.
Nice to see some classic cars! You should visit The Gallery in Brummen, also here in the Netherlands. That place is really special
Great video Sam, the car looks great but I get what Tony means about the newer car being so much better and easier to live with.
My Dad had a canary Yellow T5R Estate and it was a monster back in the day loved it
That guy has an infectious enthusiasm 👏
The video everyone from the podcast was looking forward too!!
mate you should really visit the gallery showroom in the netherlands. That should be the place you take tony. It is classic car heaven
15:52 Hands down my favourite shot from Sam's channel ever
Haha. It’s iconic
1:44 this tankstation is 2 minutes biking from my house sadly i didnt see you driving 😅😢
Very nice video🔥
I realy like the Carrera rs
Great video… I’m with Tony, as cool as that RS is, for that money, I’m definitely buying a new one.
New = depreciation
Old = appreciation
For my money the 964 wins.
That light blue 280 sl pagode was phenomenal. We have a white coupe with a red interior. Still everything original.
And btw that red dial speedy is nice as well. Actually i also got the same schumacher edition just with with a yellow dial. Fabulous watches
Greetings from germany 👌🏻
I love seeing vids of you and Tony just loving life ❤️ Tony is the mate we all need
Another great video. I’ve had a couple of RS’s 20+ years ago, 964 and 993; both were great cars🤩
15:54 is legendary :D
Lol I actually hadn’t seen Tony, only heard his voice on the podcast. This is good stuff
Been waiting for this since the podcast! It did not disappoint 😂
One of your best videos, loved it. Nice use of epic b roll off the top with the coffee
That shot of Tony at 15:53 is truly iconic
