These rifles are awesome, I have an absolute minter that a friend gave me before he passed. He had the factory test target for it, he told me he had never fired it.
Impressive engineering and build quality in that rifle. For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry about drilling a couple holes for a rail or adjustable butt pad. They can always be refilled with walnut plugs then refinished to almost as-new. May be taboo for some, but have a look at old competition rifles....they were greatly modified with the go-to mods of that day. Gorgeous piece.
Totally agree and well said! Competition rifles were tools back in the day and a lot of them were modded for the owners individual preferences for sure. As you can tell I’m on that side of the fence! Thanks a lot for the comment.
Glad I found your channel. Was chasing some CZ sear detent balls across the floor last night. Had a 452 Scout to repair. Cleaned a 452 Varmint in 17HMR. Sighted in my 452 American 22LR. Really want to find a Brno 4 one day.
Forend tip bedding is something I've read about a lot in older books. I think it's probably most beneficial for rimfires, since they have actions with less surface to the stock and still almost the same weight in the barrel. This whole free floated barrel thing has blown out of proportion via the firearms media.
I had a model 2 when I was a kid. I was thinking of getting a model 4 and putting a new barrel on it (Walther Lothar, Bartlein, Krieger, or something like that). That doesn't like an option with that tuner system and forward action screw.
Great rifle , These are tack drivers
They sure are!

Model 2s are fantastic. I would get a 4 and see how much you like it with the stock barrel. They shoot very very well as is
A Unertl Scope would very much match this Barrel profile..
It sure would, but it got an Arken SH4 6x24x50 instead
