I don't compete. But it's nice to see a walnut and steel rifle in the competition. A rifle with soul!
It isn’t the rifle, it was me or the dope. I barely got any on this stage but the next stage I got 10/10 and cleaned it. The rifle is not the issue.
SA made between 1955 1958, they are extremely accurate
Thank you!
Thanks nice job
Great information
Thank you i appreciate that
Premium ammo has gotten so expensive i have been looking for a lower end ammo to shoot once in awhile. i settled on federal auto match. my cz 457 shoots it decently… can’t complain at around 5 cents a round! thx for the vid, cheers
Nothing beats Automatch for cheap trigger time! I prefer CCI SV, but you can only get it for super cheap if you buy 5000 rounds of it.
I am the great grandson of Walter R. Benjamin. his son George my mothers father taught me marksmanship with a 310. The same rifle but a smooth bore.
Whoa! Now that’s a family dinner I’d like to attend. Thanks for sharing
@@inrangerimfire20two I'm the only one kicking now. But George was a great story teller.
If you actually know the headspace of your gun, then you should sort ammo by rim thickness only. Select only the rounds that fit your actual headspace within a small margin. Never thicker than the actual headspace but maybe actual headspace thickness and less by 2 percent at the most. Would be a great test to sort a large group of ammo into a batch that fit your headspace perfectly. Then shoot it to see what groups you get. The other variables will still be there but I believe this is the most crucial variable concerning chamber fit, pressure, and reliability.
Why didn’t you zero your caliper on the length of the brass pipe. Then every reading would have been actual rim thickness.
You should know this. I could have, but that wasn’t the point for the video.
match ammo for match rifle ? i'd say YES !
Hi there, Yes, but I chose CCI SV as a fun challenge for this particular type of match.
@@inrangerimfire20two and it did pretty well !
hi I have just bought a 2nd hand kricko 300 and want to mount a scope on it but can't work out how to remove the front and rear sights. Probably a silly question but hoping you can help out.
Hey there, congratulations on the rifle. The answer is not always easy because Krico made the 3xx series for a few decades and different methods of sight attachment were used. Mine were a simple set screw setup but some used dovetails and you could just drift them out. I would cover the barrel with some painters tape and use a block of hardwood etc for that variety. Take care on the direction (if any) that the sights were installed from. Sometimes the dovetail tapers from one side to the other Enjoy the rifle!
Boy; that forestock is so much deeper in profile than the older Lakefield Mk II rifles I've owned. Trying to get up in there to get your thumb on the magazine retention spring looks challenging.
It isn’t really that difficult at all and it is worth it because the stock is so comfortable
Excellent video. The bolt looks the same design as my recently acquired 400E model 22 hornet. I will give it try now I can see how it all works. Thanks for Australia!
Glad it helped
That's awesome! Nicely done.
Thanks!
Very cool! I'm heading there for my first ever competition this Sunday (Jan 5)
Oh awesome! I’ll see you there and look forward to meeting you.
Love Your stuff. I am so glad I found Your channel. I should get my shims tomorrow. I was happy with My groups at 50 yds. I am stoked to see what the 452 can do when I'm done .Its bedded , polished bolt , light trigger, I am thinking I can bump my quality ammo up from SK Standard with this improvement and see results from it .Great stuff !!!! Thank You for sharing
Hey thanks a lot of the kind words! The 452 will love the shims I’m sure. Tell Lance I said Hi and let me tell you a nicer guy you will not encounter. Let me know how your rifle does after the test. Cheers and happy new year. -Dan
HELLO I AM INTERESTED IN THE SCOPE, DO YOU HAVE A REFERENCE ?
Hey there, it is a long discontinued Lyman All American 26x boosted aftermarketly to 30x. It is a great scope, but any decent modern scope is better in my opinion. I just love the old stuff!
Great video. I have one in storage that says Cal BB. What does it mean?
Hey there, thanks for the comment. It means it’s a .17 cal lead bb model. You can still find them although they are not super popular. Last bunch I bought were made by Gamo. Do not use steel bbs as they will destroy the brass barrel
@@inrangerimfire20two Thanks for the info. I will probably give it away. I though it was pellet gun. Thanks
I've still got a working 312 standing next to my Sheridan 😁
Excellent!
I’m going to be doing this with a Boyd’s stock, how do I determine what length to cut my pillar, where to set it, etc. thanks!
The long and the short of it is- every action is different and every individual rifle requires hand fitting. I use the depth end of my callipers and then I use a Dremel with various bits to get it fine tuned after the epoxy cures. The point is, allow extra when making and gluing the pillars and trim/ adjust to final fit. It sound/seems intimidating but it isn’t because you just leave lots of extra and make it work after. It’s easy albeit time consuming
Very nice piece of history, never seen a brass air rifle, we’ve all seen the crossman pumps but nothing like this, thanks for sharing, subbed 👍
Thanks a lot for the comment. These are absolute gems! Cheers, -Dan
Yeah, now lets see how it shoots. Should drive tacks, if done right.
Yep it did. I sold it to a subscriber who contacted me with an offer i couldn’t refuse. He was going to use it for PRS Rimfire matches which is ideal for this rifle.
Ciao Amico. Io ho un HW 977 full 19j , canna da 37 cm, ho montato un Kit Ferraioli . Zero vibrazioni, ed è come un laser ! Saluti
The rifle you have has the wrong stock and the wrong bolt
Hi there, thanks for the comment. This rifle pattern is well documented and I can confirm it is correct. What makes you say it is wrong?
I have one a model 54 the stock has a thumb hole the bolt is different mine has the original front and rear sight your bolt looks wrong I have a similar problem where i think it catches sometimes but it doesn't
Aah, you are thinking of a completely different rifle. The one I have is the model M220000 Finish Lion and was made for a different purpose than the model you have. Mine was made for rules requiring a lighter weight rifle and has a turned down barrel for weight savings. They all run the same action. I have a complete video where I discuss this rifle. I have had both examples (the free rifle like you have and this one) and they shoot equally well. A quick google search will show you. Finish Valmet M220000 Thanks for the comment! -Dan
Ok my mistake the bolt on mine is different my rifle is very very heavy no good for a field shooting trip I shoot the rifle on still days at 300 metres with diopter sights v bull after v bull other club members try their luck with ruger 10/22 and cant even hit the target
Looks like an older 1710 judging by the safety.
Yep, date code is 1999 and so that would mean it was close to the switch to side safety. I prefer the quality of the wing vs side personally, but this is based on my experience of never needing to apply my safety
@ I have a 1710 on the way. Very excited to receive it.
Hi i need to mount a scope on my BSA 5 but im in South Africa. Any idea on where to start looking for spares. I just got the rifle so i have no idea where to start
Well, I am not sure the availability of spare parts in SA, here in Canada there are zero available. My suggestion is perhaps try a weaver side mount? But you would have to drill and tap it for the mount
Thanks for a nice video. I appreciate the info on magazines. I am the owner of a mint 300 luxe that I bought new around 1995. Great rifle. Only thing that bothers me is a friction point on the rear left side of firing pin, that cause heavy bolt lift. With a small coat of lithium grease bolt lift is like butter, but hey it’s a firing pin and grease caused misfires in cold weather (Norway). Thin lube wears of quickly, and I’m back to heavy bolt lift. Other than that really nice rifle. I have been thinking of using dry Teflon lube.
Hey there, thanks for the comment. I’m not if you have watched any of my group shooting videos with this Krico, but my bolt lift is rather light and I would say it’s easier than an Anschutz 64 /CZ 452. I would recommend to lose the Lithium and use some Honda Black Moly grease and burnish it. Let me know how it goes
Does anyone use a bore guide ? If so which one.
Hey there, thanks for the comment. I do not use a bore guide for mine, but one could easily find one that could be made to fit. I’m sure a MK2 or 64 would work with some tinkering
For what U pay I would be very upset if it didn’t
LOL! Worth every penny
Mine had the slick 2 stage
They are a wonderful trigger other than the long reach, but that is a very minor criticism
Superb rifleoh how I miss mine😢
Great shooter, I get similar groups using SK. In fact, best groups from SK Pistol Match ( go figure)
Try some quality ammunition like SK or RWS and your groups will shrink. I can get 1/4 at 50 yards .
Hey, thanks for the comment! I typically shoot a new rifle with CCI SV as an introduction. It shoots lights out with the good stuff
Hello, I own like you a Valmet finnish lion 22lr M220000, and I would like to know if you know the way to completely disassemble the breech of this Finnish rifle? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards. Gérard
Hello! I’m not sure I understand what you mean by disassembly of the breach ?
The moving part where the spring and firing pin are located, in France this part is called the “breech” with its cocking lever.
deeple Hello, I own like you a Valmet finnish lion 22 lr M220000, I would like to know if you know how to disassemble the breech of this Finnish rifle? thank you in advance for your help. Best regards. Gérard .
How rel size mountting scope krico
what happened to your awesome beard?!
Hahhahah! The thing about me and a beard is I shave it off and the next day it’s back in all its glory!
Threaded insert is for additing rear weights.
Nice wood on that stock.!!!
Oooooh man she is a thing of beauty and you made my damn day noticing it!!
Thanks fer sharing, when I see or hear Anschutz, I immediately start to dream of the new 1727 Fortner in a chassis
Any Fortner is a good Fortner regardless of its slippers! I wish I had filmed more of the TWO Biathlon Fortners that I had the pleasure of trying.
Damn it - I was hoping to come up for it… I registered through the Practiscore page and was contacted by someone from NRL22 Canada saying the match was cancelled and refunded my entry fee??? Hopefully I’ll make the next one. Thanks for the report and the video
Oh no! Not sure why that happened? It was a good turnout too. Next one is Jan 5th
Im after an older 80 in 22, ideally from the 90s newish one's keep coming up but I'm gonna hang on for an older one, they wa definitely better quality from years ago.
Yeah, the older ones are nice for sure
Good Day D. Merry Christmas to you, your family & friends! Mike.
Same to you and yours Brudda

Great rifle , These are tack drivers
They sure are!
Nice video of your rifles, I have a Diana .177, its from the mid to late 60's, I got it way back in the early 70's & been in storage since last year, the spring is very weak, so starting next year will get this restored & in working order by a air gun shop. Chas, uk.
Very cool! Diana’s from that era are such excellent shooters. Enjoy it when you get it up and running and stop back again and let me know how it shoots.
I saw one of these for sale at a local store....when looking over the rifle the trigger would pull but not hit 25 percent of the time. Is this the same issue you referred to in the video?
Yes, most likely. It has either been set far too low (most common) or, it has missing/worn parts. The parts are shared with the 69A and are usually easy to source.
Practice with only a single cheap Plastic bolts with a 60 or a better yet, a 50 pound cross bows, shoot with Plastic single piece, cheap, not two different types they break, not a 80 poun DC Cross Bow they, break too many bolts, sho-t in to a card board boxes, mash flat, a 50 pound Cross Bow Pistols is best, they dont break Plastic Bolts as the, . 80 pound Cross Bow Pistols do. Break ! Stay with a 50 or a 60 pound Cross Bow Pistols, I practice always up close, 15 feet, or closer, targets, a box full of dry dirt or dry sand in a card board boxes as a target, just use, Masking tape up the holes.
