    35 y/o and I was looking to get back into riding bmx during this pandemic and it was hard to shop for a bike because a lot of bike shops were sold out of everything. I first was gonna get a Sunday Model C and sat on a 20 inch at the shop and I didn't remember it feeling so tiny lol. Than I sat on a Haro downtown 24 and still felt small so Model C was out. At the time I was also looking into the gt performer luckily I couldn't get my hands on one because somehow I came across the Beastmode and I knew I had to get it. So happy with it feeling like a kid again. Love the pk ripper too so sweet. I watch your video on how you got the Big Ripper and our stories were almost exactly the same lol. Keep up the great content!

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад +2

      Thanks man! Stoked you found that Beastmode. They’re super similar. I tried the model C too and it just sits in my garage. I gave up on BMX. Saw the Haro Master 26 but couldn’t find one. That Big Ripper was a game-changer. This PK fits the sweet spot for me though. Grats on the Beastmode and welcome back to BMX 🤘

    Had this bike been in stock while I was shopping I may have bought it. 27.5 feels like the perfect balance between being able to do tricks while being a comfortable cruiser and wheelie bike.
    Thanks for the insight on tire width. I have .25 inches more clearance on my bike than the tire it shipped with. My next set will be max width for sure.

    I run avid bb5 brakes on my trek mountain bike, very similar in most respects to this ripper. I swapped out the hydro discs for cable disks. A few reasons, you can modulate the braking pressure smoother and the maintenance is easier. Watch out for lever fluid reservoir gasket corrosion too.

    Thanks for putting together such a great review. I've been trying to decide between the PK Ripper 27.5 and the Redline PL-26. I grew up on Redline so I was swaying that way, but the more I see of the PK Ripper 27.5 the more I want it. Both bikes are hard to find in Australia. Speaking of, we have our rear brake lever on the left side, do you think with the cable running inside the top tube (and entry hole on the left side) it would still be possible to switch the levers over?

    I completely forgot about the foam donut things you put on the grips one of the best comfort mods you can put on a bike aside of just cutting the guards off. Tannus America makes tire inserts that protects the inner tube from punctures comes with its own tube in the kit. Depending on the tire size you may need to trim to fit. Don’t own a set yet but I do have their airless tires on my Torker U district. So far those are fairly decent.

The gearing is a little tall for this over 50 year old so I put a 32 chain wheel on the front. I also have a lot of spoke noise happening, spokes don't feel loose though. Anyone else having this issue ? Something to do with the tubeless rims or just needs to be 'run in' ?

    Hey Isaac - great video, really helpful! I'm 53, thinking about switching from a mountain bike to a BMX bike. Thoughts on a 20" vs this 27.5"? I have a mountain bike now, but just can make it do all the stuff I did on my old BMX bike, and so I'm kind of nervous about going to a larger wheel. Just wheelies and the occasional table top here and there

    Hi Issac, do any of your SE Bikes have "cassette wobble"?
    I recently bought the PK Ripper 27.5 and I'm experiencing quite a bit of wobble, my guess is that the guy in the bike shop who assembled my bike had over-tightened the chain tensioner and put stress on the cassette making it go a little oblong. Check out the video in my profile to see what i mean.

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад +1

      @@BigBikeBMX I really appreciate your response, Issac! Yeah I already sent an email to SE Bikes warranty department here in Australia last week. Soon after I realised that the warranty department's address was the same as the shop where I bought my bike from, who are the main distributors for SE Bikes in Australia. The guy who replied to my email is probably the same guy who assembled my bike lol. His response was… “From what we see your rear cassette is within acceptable tolerance. This small movement will not affect the function of the bicycle.” This was in response to the video demonstrating the issue.
      I've also sent an email SE Bike warranty in the US, let's see what they say in head office.
      It's just good to know that I have yourself and many other SE Bike owners saying that you don't have any cassette wobble. Thanks for the response bro!

      Al P I asked Todd and he jokingly said between 250 and 2,500. It’s not a limited edition bike. I hope they make a lot more because it’s the perfect bike in my opinion and I want as many BMXers as possible to enjoy it🤘

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад

      Bugsbunny808 not at all. It’s great for wheelies and riding around. I changed the gearing on my big ripper to make wheelies easier but the smaller wheels make this bike easy to get the wheel up

    I found a good deal on this bike, but I’m not sure if I should get it since I’m 6 feet tall, I plan on riding around 20-40 miles each ride so I want something comfortable, and I can’t decide between this and the Fast Ripper. What do you think would better fit me?

  • @mercedestrada2855
    @mercedestrada2855 4 года назад +1

    If you don’t mind me asking how tall are you? I’m 5’10 and indecisive of what bike to get. A beastmode which is Ofcourse 27.5 or a big ripper which is 29. Rad videos and will keep watching. Stay safe

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад +1

      Great question. I’m 5’11. I’ve loved both the 29 big ripper but I personally love the 27.5 PK more. It’s a little more peppy but still doesn’t feel cramped.

    • @mercedestrada2855
      @mercedestrada2855 4 года назад

      Isaac Irvine my buddy is about or 6’2 or abit taller and keeps insisting I should go 29’ even with my height. It will be my first big bike so I want to get the right bike out the gate. I’ve had BMX bikes when I was younger so I know this is big change. But I do trust your reviews so I think 27.5 it is! Just need to find one in stock.lol which is real tough.

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  3 года назад +1

      I’ve seen people 5’3” up to 6 foot ride and wheelie it comfortably. You can set it up with new bars to customize the fit

  • @joebotz1243
    @joebotz1243 4 года назад +1

    Can you manual and Bunny Hop it? The 29er is just too big for me to do that only good for wheelies I want something I could jib around on

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад +1

      Definitely look at the PK, Maniaac Flyer, or Beastmode for agility type riding. They’re a little more nimble in my opinion

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад

      I like it. I grew up with quieter free wheels so I don’t mind the lack of noise and it’s been smooth for me. Great question 🤘 - how about you? Like it?

    • @gomiband2251
      @gomiband2251 4 года назад +1

      I miss the noise lol. I still have my assassin and there is more engagement. So getting used to that little space before engagement will take some time.
      She is smooth though. Digging it.

      Jackeline Lopez they make affordable bikes and the best place to check is your local bike shop or sebikes.com to see what the retail price is. People are asking lots of money on eBay for bikes because they’re sold out in many shops. More bikes are coming soon though and prices will go back down

    Hey MR IRVINE, how's you PK Ripper doing? I just noticed that my Cassette wobbles - you notice yours wobble? I just had the bike for about month and a half now. Similar to whats happening to this guys bike - ruclips.net/video/XjZFM6QGrPc/видео.html - Any suggestions my friend. Aloha

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX  4 года назад +1

      I would look at the retaining locking nut that holds the cassette driver nice and tight. I haven't had any issues with mine, but I tinker with things a lot on my bike and checking bolts etc. It's bot in Arizona so when it's too hot to ride, I'll spend my leisure time tuning up my bikes. Let me know if that helps resolve the issue.
