    Yoga Nidra, also known as Non Sleep Deep Rest, is a form of deep relaxation, that can take us to a very unique state between being awake and asleep, where we can access deep non REM sleep with delta brain waves, whilst remaining aware. Ultimately your body is completely relaxed but your mind remains alert.
    In just the shortest amount of time in this state we can access deep physiological healing and rejuvenation, but also allowing ourselves to let go of any physical tension, trauma, negative thoughts or emotions that may be holding us back.
    Another powerful aspect of Yoga Nidra is its ability to make us more open and receptive to messages of healing and creativity, enabling us to reprogram our subconscious mind. Using visualisations, intentions and affirmations (sankalpas) and repeatedly focusing on these during the practice, we can begin to rewire our brains neural pathways and create new patterns of thought and behaviour that support our overall growth and wellbeing.
    Unlike other forms of yoga, Yoga Nidra typically doesn’t involve any complicated asanas, or poses. It simply involves lying down in the most comfortable position you can as you are guided through the meditation.
    I encourage creating yourself a designated Yoga Nidra space - or nest as I like to call it - so that you can completely relax and surrender to this beautiful practice.
