finger work out for bassist

Can you move the fingers on your fretting hand independently from one another? And can you do it while keeping the other fingers relaxed?
When playing an instrument like the bass guitar, being able to control each finger independently is a basic and necessary skill - and also one of the most neglected.
I can see why many bass players don't work on their finger independence: they think that their hands are clumsy, so they feel bad about it. The more they feel bad, the less they work on it. The less the work on it, the more this becomes a problem, which makes them feel bad!
I broke out of this problem when i started practicing the spider excercise. I think you should try it out consstently and see the reults. You can learn it in literally 2 minutes by watching this video.
