Not into it at the moment but I think we will all eventually accept this new look/electric cars in the near future. Our 2004 Subaru STIs will be looked at as classic masterpieces, the same way we look at classic Mustangs etc. That's just what I think.
Aside from insane 0-60 time is there anything fun about an ev? No noises no gear box, just two pedals and a wheel. Unless I just want to race from light to light it idk how it would be fun.
I own a 2013 tangerine sti, I am in the process of building it into a monster. With a 800whp capable closed deck motor from out front. I’ll be tuning it down to 550whp. I’ll be doing a FMIC, rotated turbo kit(possibly). I’m sad that Subaru let go of the STI. I will be getting more STIs. A 05 and a hatchback. This is such a sad day for Subaru though
I read up on the whole Toyota trying to get a patent for a manual transmission to use with electric vehicles and found it interesting and somewhat relieving. I will forever be a die-hard fan for internal combustion engine and it does make me sad to slowly see ICE going away slowly but I am curious and anxious to see how companies will make fully electric cars enjoyable for enthusiasts. I do hope that companies could make some form of a sports car using hybrid technology since we have best of both worlds. Until then I will wait to see how it will all turn out.
Thanks for making me feel better about the future! 👍🏽 I own a 2016 STI and looking forward to a non Tesla vehicle and the STI would be a killer combo with a electric manual transmission!
lets consider that the drive train in the STI is one of the most amazing drive trains to drive! I miss it so much! So it's a big deal to me xD Edit: The 6 speed transmissions are what makes a subi so great next to the sound of unequal length headers out a catless tomei downpipe into a catless catback
Subaru knew they ruined the new WRX and knew there was no way to fix it with STI bits so they ditched it. Tbh i'm hopeful we will get something fun and absurdly fast in a couple years.
I’d love it if they made another Impreza WRX trim. Just take the current Hatchback Impreza and add a turbo, spoiler, diffuser and other performance goodies. Make it bare bones on the inside. Hell put manual roll-up windows in it, I wouldn’t mind. It Would sell like hotcakes, but it’ll never happen…Subaru made it clear they’re making the WRX a completely different platform from the Impreza.
the STI tech was just too outdated and they couldn't afford to update it AND set up their infrastructure for electric. We gotta remember subaru is their own thing they don't have that Toyota or VW money
FINALLY, someone who actually understand the move that Subaru is trying to make. I understand that people dont want EV's but they are the future. Not gonna lie, when the new STI drops, I will be in line to order it after they work all the kinks out.
@@_AlexanderVargas haha I did order the new 2022 model about a month ago. Gonna tune it out to be as close to an STI as possible. Can’t wait to be the first person with a orange wrx in my area. Keep the subi content coming
make it hybrid. simple as that. just keep the icon alive. make a new more reliable EJ and add a battery to it. STI has only had one golden age and that was almost 30 years ago. They need to go back to that style but give it a nice 2023 polish. 350-400HP hybrid STI would be perfect
STI is more than 3 letters - it's the driving experience, the rumble, and history and not just about instant torque. "Fun" Electric AWD cars are expensive and battery technology is slowly progressing to become cheaper and longer range. There are still chip shortages. This being said, I can't imagine a AWD electric STI in the 40k price range anytime soon within the next 5 years.
@@MikeSmith-hv7ws weirdest thing? Humans are programmed to enjoy sounds like music, soothing sounds of nature, loud heavy metal music, etc. It's the least weirdest thing. As humans, we enjoy tasting good food, smelling things, listening to sounds and feeling.
They just need to hold off on the electric thing and release one final flat 4 sti BUT MAKE IT HYBRID INSTEAD. Internal combustion is dying and thats good for the future but that doesnt mean we should just kill the spirit. Subaru should really make a hybrid STI. hybrid cars are fucking awesome, have you ever seen a super lemans car drive off in fully electric mode then hear the engine kick in like thunder. its awesome, and subaru would keep the amazing sound and iconic technology while still being more sustainable
Its a good idea for electric manual but what about the sounds tho?! The stutututu and rumble this is what are these cars are iconic for well i guess businesses needs innovation can’t really blame em.
I would rather see them go the hybrid route first… no rumble with an all electric car and worse than that would be a “fake rumble” from the speakers… 😳
I don’t think the sti will be fully electric. I think their going to do a hybrid that way they can keep some type of boxer engine in it and it will charge the batteries and the same time. All while the electric motors help with acceleration and possibly a bit of a boost here and there when in the low end or top end. But I guess we will see.
I really want an actually combustion engine I wanna start my car and hear that rumble I want to be able to add to make it perform better driving faster screw all this electric
You don't seem like you really know whats going on. Toyota's electric transmission is EMULATED. Not an actual transmission like the taycon turbo and audi e tron gt. Don't mean to hate but I just can't get with this. Teslas go plenty fast with one gear. No reason an E-STi needs a transmission, two speed at most. It would make it even less raw...
@@_AlexanderVargas im just a grump… my rant is pointless really. I once saw a videos on someone who electric motor swaps their STi and he said sometimes he uses different gears but mostly just final drive or something. That video got buried or deleted so Ive had trouble finding it since.
the idea of an ev awd manual sti makes my mouth water, i love it

I agree
Prob only if they are stock they will be worth a lot more but moded ones would be ok just not as expensive
I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride everyday in my 2020 STI with 10K on it. I'm never going to sell it. A great video brother. Subies forever.

0:04 sums it all up
This is the best move considering there is a “chip shortage”. We will all be on horses in the next 10 years.

Electric car meet up. No exhaust, no boxer sound, ehhhh ok. I can imagine how fun to watch electric cars on a race track or rallying, drifting etc.

How would you be able to hear when to shift in a electric subaru if you can't hear anything 🤔
Let’s get the Subaru owner to see this ASP!!!
Electric car with manual…but its supposed to have one gear?
It would be computer controlled to feel like a 5/6 speed. The article about Toyota explains it all!
Its a good idea for electric manual but what about the sounds tho?! The stutututu and rumble this is what are these cars are iconic for well i guess businesses needs innovation can’t really blame em.
EV swap cheaper than a built EJ? Sign me up.
Electric cars don’t have geared transmissions.. and it would hopefully have the new Yamaha motors on individual hubs like with the E-RA concept car.
You mean the Toyota EV with a Subaru badge priced at 65-80k. I think not
never been this early before love the content:)
Thank u!

bruh whats the point of an manual transmission in an electric car ?
I could barely pick up on the satire...

No
STI is garbage UNLESS you get a built engine. Only then does the STI become awesome.
You mean the lamest sti ever made
