I had a disengagement yesterday on FSD. In a construction zone, at night, traffic stopped. When traffic started moving again the car tried to go left though a couple traffic cones instead of following traffic which in itself should have been enough indication but construction activity to the left should also have indicated that that direction was problematic.
I trust that Tesla is capturing all disengagements on FSD and look forward to fast improvements. Only had 3 drives so far but that has been my only issue.

Are you strong bullish for the stock (with V12 ?)

    • @rogerstarkey5390
      @rogerstarkey5390 Месяц назад +1

Think logically about why the trial is in progress.
      .
      "We are not compute constrained"
      Add the V12 rewrite.
      .
      Translated.
"We have a far SMARTER system which can collect, process and understand data far more quickly ".
      .
In that case, what do you need?
      DATA
      When do you need it?
      NOW.
      .
      Then, the final piece.
      .
      Ideally you want "unusual" incidents?
      .
Where might the best place be to collect those "problems not reported by the experienced users"?
      .
Maybe by increasing the pool by an order of magnitude, with "newbie" participants?
      .
If you can 20x the data input over a month, and the system is generally capable of a "first time fix" whereas before it was let's say 60%? You've gained the potential to improve by what might have taken well over a year, in weeks.
      .
      Then what?
      Well
I would take a breather, review through May, then maybe repeat.
      .
      Next?
I might suggest "It's far superior to Mercedes on the highway and Waymo in the city.... What's the holdup?"
      .
Put the pressure of "why not?" onto the regulators.
      .
If they accept at least "level 3'...
I might do a deal with existing owners.
      .
"We're going to drop the New user price to.... 8k (guess) for "x" months.
      But
*You* get a refund down to *6k* (irrespective of what you paid) "
      "What about my interest!!?"
      .
"You get a 1 time transfer"
      .
      Why do that?
      .
The reduction brings *a lot* of new users.
      .
The money (which hasn't really been counted) from the existing owners can now be released.... (Any "loss" compensated by the new uptake)
Plus, I reckon a "reasonable" number of the existing users would take the 6k and use it to reinvest in a new Tesla.... (With FSD......13?). Great for sales.

@@rogerstarkey5390 I think you are probably right that the free trial is partially to capture more edge cases. It’s a risky move because if it has a bad failure while engaged it will be big news and this expansion of use increases the chances. Guess what? It hasn’t happened yet! It’s possible that the system can handle the most dangerous situations basically flawlessly but it’s lacking in less dangerous aspects of the driving experience like getting stuck in a lane that runs out with lines it doesn’t know what to do with (As shown by recent Dirty Tesla vid)

Have had some essentially flawless drives on FSD trial I began 2 days ago, driving 20 miles from one small city to another, handling roundabouts, pedestrians, lane shifts due to construction, left turns with oncoming traffic. It does not do well in a shopping center- can’t distinguish pedestrians on sidewalk vs in parking lot “lane”, also tried to leave via unviable exit (R turn only)- recommended not engaging until out of such areas. Also made an inappropriate stop where there was a right turn but then cars entering from a stop about 20 feet from initial intersection- stopped for car which had stop sign then decided to go just as other car pulled out from stop because it thought I was waiting. Overall very impressed. Will be using it to drive 2h to NYC later in month

Tesla knows how every single atom in their company performs, where the problems are, how sales are going, which adds work etc. People on the outside which has nothing to lose compared to Elon/Tesla somehow think that Tesla doesn't do what is best for the company or they think they are smarter. If really want FSD adoption, just reduce the FSD price to half and just charge more $premium when/if people want their Tesla to join robotaxi fleet down the road (which will take a long time given regulatory approvals). So two tiers of FSD (personal and robotaxi) and get rid of enhanced autopilot.

WHAT is the fixation with the compact before CT being a good idea?
    .
    Several issues.
    .
    First.
We've seen that Tesla stockpiled 4680 cells.
They obviously calculated that it was *impossible* to *guarantee* a stockpile sufficient for the Compact, so why the conversation?
    .
    Second
It's become very clear that the key to *really* leveraging the Gen 3 platform (NOT just the Compact!) is the unboxed process?
    .
When was that concept first developed?
    2015?
If so, why not use it on the 3?
    Or the Y?
    .
I'll suggest that it wasn't even "a thing" before they went through the (logical!) process of the 48V system, brake by wire, etc.
I'll also "guess" that those ideas didn't emerge until the CT was in development.
    .
    Third.
We're back to the old chestnut of *WHERE* to build it?
    .
To even CONSIDER that vehicle, it was (is) *ESSENTIAL* that the company was already profitable and stable.
    .
To reach that stage, 3 and Y had to be in production?
    .
For that to occur, the factories had to be built.
    .
Shanghai was a separate (successful) case.... The money maker.
Fremont? At the time, apparently had trouble bolting 2 panels together? (Mmmm. US work quality!!!)
    .
    Berlin? Not ready.
    Texas? Not ready.
And when they WERE, it was logical (essential?) that they build the known, profitable product.
    .
So that puts us at...... 2020? 2021? (We know a song about that, don't we?)
    .
By which time the CT was well advanced..... AND it was apparent that the "Unboxed" process was a good idea..... "On paper" using tech developed on and for the CT.
    .
So how long to *develop* the process? and *Build a factory* (modified to "a line") during the most "interesting" period in recent times?
    .
Typically 3 years, maybe add 1 to compensate?
    .
    Which puts us at...... Now?
    .
Then, we must consider "the object of the exercise" Robotaxi.
That tech has to be at least "near ready" before the vehicle is produced in numbers?
    .
    Get the point?
    .
Those that can, do (even if it takes a bit longer to do numerous things *nobody has done before* "?)
    Those who can't?
Should... "Zip it" and enjoy the show.
    .
    (imo)

People are packages, and you really can't have some of the things without also having the other things. In the case of Elon Musk, a more traditional conservative CEO would make less headlines, but look across the board, and nobody has a better track record than Elon. He is the Michael Jordan of CEO's and it isn't even close. Every other EV startup had more funding than Tesla did because of Tesla's success, and none of them besides MAYBE BYD can make an EV without losing money. Blue Origin has not been to orbit yet, despite having Jeff Bezos as the founder, and even being founded before SpaceX, so in 20 years they have done less than what Starship has done just in this year. You can even compare legacy companies like Boeing and ULA with Starliner and Dragon, and its irrefutable the value that Elon brings to every company, and its not even close.
The whole narrative around people calling Elon an idiot because they clearly know best is like watching people waiting in line at KFC for a bucket of chicken talk about how they could do gymnastics better than Simone Biles. The only difference is that with sports, any moron can see with their own eyes the performance of the GOATs, and with intellectual pursuits, stupid people fool themselves into thinking that the position is easy, the decisions obvious, and the problems trivial.
This is why so many people WANT to believe the nonsense about Emerald Mines, and Elon having unlimited funding from his parents, because they need an excuse for how Elon is incompetent, and why they are not worth 200B in his stead, because its obviously so easy when you have imaginary emerald money to buy talent. Something which apparently none of the other rich people on the planet have, even if this wasn't the most ridiculously stupid and misinformed piece of garbage to ever come from the media. I get that Errol Musk is the source of that rumor, but "trust me bro" is not journalism.
I can buy a gold mine in California right now. That doesn't mean I will have any money because I have unlimited gold even if Errol DID have the emerald mine, that isn't even sufficient evidence to show that this is relevant at all in Elon's life. The only proof I have ever found is that MAYBE Errol invested $30k in Tesla in the early days, but $30k is a hilariously small amount in the grand scheme of things. $30k isn't enough to open a McDonalds, let alone be what moved the needle for Tesla, and I cannot even confirm that this happened, the only source on that is Ashlee Vance's book, but the accuracy of the details on this book I have found to be very questionable at times.

    I think $ 120 this year and $ 100 next year.

Mercedes was just "handed" level 3 while regulators add obscure rules and limitations to exclude"others"
      .
What they haven't realised is that "others" are essentially using Mercedes to "plough the road".
It will soon become apparent there's a system that's better than Mercedes in all respects, on all roads in all circumstances (Over 60kph, with no car to follow, when it's raining, etc, etc, etc)
      .
      Then regulators have a dilemma.
      .
As for the stock. Watch the *company* performance, then see if you can still justify your guess in a year.

L2 vs L3 is meaningless. There's still a human driver. Talk to me when Mercedes has L5.

Autonomous is already approved in about 40 US states. When, in their own good time, Tesla is confident that collision avoidance is far better than human drivers they will switch on FSD UNSUPERVISED and the world will change. Lives saved statistics will mean all other countries will follow suit.

It’s about time Elon Musk called out Ross Gerber. Gerber has been trying to make it all about him for way too long, and he just needs to go away. He should sell all of his TSLA shares and put his money elsewhere. Meanwhile, those who appreciate what Elon Musk is doing for the world can keep buying shares of TSLA hand over fist.

    Don't do drugs.
The observed differences in both structural and functional neuroanatomy between ketamine users and controls may explain some of its long-term cognitive and psychiatric side effects, such as memory impairment and executive functioning. Given the effect that long-term ketamine exposure may yield, an effort should be made to curb its abuse.

remember Ross and Gary were the main supporters of Tesla from the beginning. They become a critic only after Elon bought X and his dabbling in politics. politics is a double edge sword and it created a lot of opponents to Elon now. i am a bull and was willing to wait but dont expect everyone. As long as Elon is give political opinions he is going to build his opposition. Remember what happened to Murdoch.

They will bring their "Influence" to bear to fool the gullible.

All Tesla and Elon gets is hate from the media, oil companies, politicians, ICE car lovers, you name it they all want him to fail. they all make profits on mediocre products that require service revenue to be profitable. Lets look at the big picture. Tesla wasnt even invited to the EV summit that Biden had a couple years ago. Hypocrisy much? It pathetic tow watch so many Americans bash an amercian company. Many legacy US brands are over 50% made outside the US

Elon MUST have something up his sleeve. He had to know that 4 models that are similar looking and with similar performance could not sustain continued growth and excitement for much more than 3 or 4 years. I’m hoping that Tesla is prepping for 2 or 3 new and exciting new cars and trucks with next level battery tech that will start a new era of growth. I’m cautiously optimistic, though, since they rely on CATL so much.

You should REALLY look closely at just about every other car manufacturer, or group(!) On the planet.
      .
"Models that look similar with the same performance"?
      .
      You at joking?
      "VW *GROUP* "?
      VW
      Audi
      Skoda
      Seat
      ALL the same platforms
ALL different lipstick on the same pigs.
      .
      Are you that easily fooled?
      .
      And for batteries
      .
      *EVERYONE* relies on CATL.
      BUT
The FACT is Tesla "relies" on them less than others.
Tesla *IS* (despite the cries from the Muppet gallery) making In house cells.
      .
They DO use multiple suppliers (smart move!)
      .
They ALSO command better deals due to their size..
      .
I think you're going to find that the Tesla progress with 4680 also showed others (Panasonic, LG, Samsung , EVE, etc) the way to overcome issues those companies had not previously solved.
      .
      Perspective change required.

Similar performance is a good thing. Should they make a car with worse performance, just to differentiate it from the other models? As for similar looks, a Camry looks like a Corolla. They just released an exciting truck three months ago. Battery technology will gradually improve over many years, but expecting some breakthrough technology is foolish.
