Alone, but never lonely here. I love the quietness, the drama-less life. Being around others causes me anxiety. I can feel judgment every time I'm around other people and I just don't need it in my life. Love being me without the judgment.
That is so perfect! I notice that my friends look at me and vision my life from their perspective without really understanding me and my perspective. I love being alone and I am not lonely. Others wear me down.
I love to 5alk to strangers when I am out away from home I have no friends and my neighbors are not friendly. When I come home from being home around strangers I am exhausted

I’m an introvert as well. I love silence, seclusion and solitude..I just dont enjoy the company of most people..my parents told me as a teen that there must be something wrong with me. They just didnt understand that I was perfectly ok..it makes me sad knowing that people still think that introverts have something wrong with them with them or are depressed…
Same here I was alwaays told that I had to learn to enjoy gatherings of people, wich I can not see the point of. I am now 52 and are still being told this by my mother...
When I meet new people Iam overwhelmed of what they say and do and I come home and review it for many days why they said what they said .people affect my nervous system and so I avoid talking to them asmuch as possible Iam an introvert ithink

As an introvert, I do hate that people think there is something wrong with being satisfied spending time alone. When my husband died three years ago after being married for 47 years I was able to adjust to being on my own. I don’t always like it, I miss his company so very much. But I am ok making my way on my own and many, even my own family, do not understand.❤
Its not people that think somethings wrong,its the extrovert narcissist. Thats what they do pretend its you that has some issues,projection is how they deal with the shame.

I love being on my own, I have a little dog,so I walk in the woods alot. Gardening, sewing are my pleasures. I have family whom I love dearly but being alone gives me inner peace ❤
What I would give to live in a French cottage like that, in France - where my ancestors came from! That aside, I started being in introvert when society gave too many pressures on family - probably 30 years ago. I was a stay at home Mom and cared for my family. I now live in a home built in 1757, live as a modern day minimalist with 27 acres of woods and 5 acres of farm land. I rescue thrown away farm animals. I bake my own bread, grow my own herbs, dry my clothes on a line, dry my lavender and herbs, collect the eggs from my chickens who I adore. I seldom go outside my farm land - Maybe once every other week to get groceries of things not grown here. We live in harmony here. This is my sanctuary.
I know how you feel, as I only go out of my very rural home to walk my dog Madge, and to take the rubbish to the end of the lane. My home is my sanctuary, and I do not like going far from it. xxx

I used to think I was an extrovert but what I realised is that I enjoy brisk interaction for about an hour then I need to be alone for the rest of the day 😂

It's called balance. Everyone has a different balancing point but I do believe either extreme (wanting to be alone all the time or needing to be with lots of people all the time) is unhealthy. All my family are dead except one sister who choses to be estranged. plus I am a senior so I get my social interaction working part time in a store. A few hours a day with a steady stream of people, which I enjoy, then coming home to the blissful quiet of my home where I pursue solitary interests. The balance is right for me. I dread when I have no work and I am completely alone 24/7. That is not my balance.

I’m an introvert, no husband, no children. It’s just me, myself and I. I have friends but not any close friends. Most of my friends are married, live out of state or are committed to someone and my time with them is limited. I don’t crave anymore to be somewhere doing something either by myself or with a friend. I’m 77 years old and just plain tired. I want to be more healthy. I long to have more energy to live each day productive and satisfied that the day was fulfilled. My peace is not in the city I live in but being with nature away from computers, the internet and iPhones. My peace is in the Africa bush with its wildlife, with the wind blowing in my face and a camera taking my best photos. I savor every moment living my best and feeling alive in the Africa bush.🦁🐘🦒
What a story similarity to myself, but one thing I concern about is when i get sick and no one to call for help, I know 2 people as kind of my friend, but we don't see each other or don't get connected much, maybe 4 times a year we talk, but other than that, nothing or no one else's. Hello, I can relate. I live in a big city and on my street are ALL married couples. Some are in their 30's and early 40's and all their friends are also people in their ages and they have their young children or teenagers. Yes, there are some older people too in my block, but they are always with their grown kids and grandkids. Since I am now a senior citizen, I feel I really have nothing in common as I have never been married and no kids or grandkids. There was one lady in her early 60's I used to talk to sometimes but even though she doesn't work (her husband works) , she was always busy every day taking care of her grandkids and then busy with her husband when he comes home from work. So I just felt she didn't really want to be friends, or have anything in common with me, because she is always busy with her family members. So it is hard to find friends anymore and I am alone most of the time. .
@@mariobruno5606 Yes, I am in the same situation. I have absolutely no family at all, not even a distant one. I have two cats. I don't even have a car so I can't really get out too much, especially with extremely hot weather around 100 degrees or more and too hard to take buses in this weather. I have to go out for groceries once week and post office next to market. I worry too, if I got sick what would I do and who will take care of my two cats. It is a hard life actually to be in this position. I don't have neighbors to talk to. They are busy with their jobs, spouse, kids or grandkids and all their family. I am like a lone sheep. . .
Thank you for this. I had my heart broken ten years ago and decided the pain was something I would never wish to endure again. Since then I have found solitude and time to heal. I prefer my life now and at 70 years of age will probably be alone for good. I have happy memories too that I can draw on and a life well spent. God bless to all those who are alone. I am a introvert, it comes from being a only child. I have been accused of being stand offish or stuck up. I just am happy with my own company and family . I have a husband four kids and 8 grands. They are who I want to see .
I was always judged as being stuck up when in reality I was shy. I still am on occassion. I don't like crowds or get togethers. I retired az an elder caregiver where I worked one on one. Now when I go out to grocery shop or do errands I feel exhausted not because of the physical, I just feel drained being in stores that are always crowed
@@debc315Yes, stores and shopping centres are incredibly draining. I have a very short battery and feel anxious very quickly. Too much going on in those situations.
@@c.o3301 That is so true. I still enjoy shopping but it is not with the peace and joy the way it used to be. I am thankful that Our Lord provides for our needs. Peace was shattered last fall in Maine here after two mass shootings that occured not too too far from where I live and shop. If I didn't know Jesus as my Risen Savior I would be living in fear every moment.
My son is my only child. And he is an extrovert. He tries to be friends with all the children and adults he meets. He has problems. He did not speak until he was 4 and had a hard time understanding speech. But this did not stop him from making friends. He was just born an extrovert.
My wife took that happiness away in an instant after 17 glorious years with dogs. Now I'm much more introvert, prone to tears and despair, much less active.
Lovely video. I am an introvert and am productive and peaceful when alone. However I have been happily married for 50 years this October. He understands me and he is a bit like me. He is not threatened by me needing space and our time together is wonderful.
You are lucky. 38 years married and my husband still doesn’t get me, he often calls me weird…lol. I don’t care what anyone thinks anymore, and I don’t go places anymore if I don’t want to. The first half of my life I did what others wanted me to. This last half of my life, I am only going do what I want, what makes me happy and if that is being by myself so be it. I hardly ever feel lonely, I enjoy my own company.

Sitting out on the swing watching the dragonflies flit about the yard. Perfectly comfortable with complete silence. I know some family members think we are boring because we never go anywhere. But, we love being home and together.

As an introvert I was as a child made to feel that there was something wrong with me and told that I should stop being so shy talk more and that I lacked confidence. This was from my extrovert mother as well. Very damaging

Live with my two doggies and its my heaven on earth. I had horrible relationships with the men I had in my life. Worked through damages and its best im alone. Im best on my own. I am a very creative person and i need to nurture that part of me.

“ feeling alone in a crowd” is what I am feeling these days. Age 80 and informed on current world events, it is easy to have uneasy settings with people who aren’t informed . I know this isn’t rare. Sad that I have had to come to conclusion to remove myself from some social settings with long term acquaintances.

It's difficult to have conversations with those who have difficulties understanding the truths about our reality. If I had one regret in my life it would be that I didn't have the wisdom in my earlier years like I have today. I was so naive about the world back then. Life would have been so much different if I had the knowledge that I have today.
I have always been an extrovert but as I age I realize I have nothing in common with any of my friends, I started being more satisfied being alone. I too crave silence and being alone and it’s been difficult for everyone to understand since I have entertained them most of my life. I’m a people pleaser by birth and little by little I’m learning to say no. I envy the people who are true to themselves in the early part of their lives and not waiting till your 63.
I too, was always told I was an odd child. I am still told that now at 54. Never watched tv. Read books. Don’t like technology. Just want a simple, quiet, drama free life. I am always told that I deserve a holiday. I don’t want a holiday. They stress me. I just want quiet and calm. My dream is to live in a quiet secluded place with no noise or people close by. After my wife passed. I’ve settled in to my life now. I have a few friends. Walk every day. Have hobbies. And a good church family. Lots of healing has happened. And I’m ok with myself.

I'm happy with my own company and resonate with this. I guess the only trouble with this mentality is when most people still seem to appreciate one or two special people in their lives. Probably those people very much appreciate you too. If you always took the mentality that you're happy with your own company how would you have met them? I have a friend that is a musician and used to play out all the time, giving many people joy. He subsequently met his partner at a large gathering, and gradually decided he was happier just with her at home growing food, home schooling his children and became cynical about all the festivals and parties he used to go to. Of course, without those gatherings he wouldn't have had the family he now enjoys. I feel there is something selfish in not contributing to social life as much as you can, partly because you never know when you might meet someone that brings a fresh and valuable perspective to your life - none of us know it all - and because social gatherings are necessary for people to meet one another; even introverts may well want an intimate relationship at least, and an introvert at a party will certainly value the presence of another introvert that they can escape to a quiet corner with to catch a breath. I know because this happens to me. But this criticism is aimed at myself as much as anything. I have a dream house on a bit of land where I grow vegetables and have a smalle forest that I planted. I love the peace, and escape from judgement. I recently became quite paranoid from going to many social gatherings and then feeling like I'd been excluded. Strange considering I like being on my own anyway. The easy thing would be to say I don't need any of that, I'll just stick to myself and my routine. But I don't think it's the right thing to do. Groups of people have toxic characteristics. I think it's inevitable people strive for heirarchy, probably unconsciously, within groups, and this leads to jealousy, competition and other undesirable characteristics. But they're comprised of individual people that have their struggles the same as everyone else, you can contribute to their wellbeing by being understanding, and get a better perspective of your own issues by dialogue with others.
My childhood: Alone time with the family dog, playing with my Barbies, sewing Christmas gifts for family members, making homemade concord grape jelly with the neighbors grapes or baking an apple pie to rival the one grandma used to make, bike riding anywhere and everywhere, because we could do it back then and make it home safely by nightfall, listening and singing to music, sometimes writing my own songs, and drawing whatever drew my attention to on that day, nature or the neighbors house, the picture on a greeting card, even my sister's doll baby. When the sun was good and hot I got my vitamin D from sunbathing while reading a good book. Those were the good old days.
I value silence above all else, I am finding it really difficult to find a home I will be happy in. My society keeps building new estates and the houses are all crammed together, shared driveways and neighbourhood fences to encourage community. Makes me feel more isolated. A world built for extroverts.
I soo can relate. My little town was soo ideal for quiet living now all the beautiful farm lands gone turned into sub divisions and homes crammed together. It’s soo sad bc now our little town is sooooo crowded to just go to grocery store post office.
It gets more difficult in India. No laws on the noise levels and no strict civic sense or rules. I won't give you details. But, please pray for me. I am a woman just like you. And I crave silence in nature.

I've attended and led over 35 silent retreats and the practice has served me well. I live alone because of family bereavement... I love my solitude..it sparks creativity!
There's a difference between taking time for yourself and being alone all the time. Eventually you realise that live is one continual repeat. People really do need each other
After being a solo parent of 4 I love my solitude. People don't understand, they think it means depression, I am never depressed ! I have friends and belong to a crochet group. There isn't anything wrong with being alone if you like who you are.😊
She loves silence just like I do. The problem is when I don't want to speak, people around me think there's something wrong. Why can't they just understand, I don't want to talk. I prefer to keep quiet. It's a hard balance to strike, keeping them "happy" around me .

From childhood, I've been happiest with my own company and have never, ever felt lonely From childhhod, I've been made to feel weird, abnormal, peculiar, selfish etc for not wanting people around me constantly. So it's lovely to know that I'm not alone in my craving for solitude!
I am an introvert. Pretty much always was. I was married for 51 years. The first 13 years he was in the Navy and I was never really comfortable with having to do so much socialization. When he retired from the Navy, he went to work for AT&T, and again there were required parties, which I dreaded every time we had to go. he finally retired from there. We moved into a motorhome and traveled the United States for 14 years until he passed away in 2016. Yes, there was some socialization, but we could pick and choose what we wanted to do and the longer we did it the less we were inclined to join in. When he passed away, I moved back to Savannah Georgia to be near my daughter and bought a Townhouse. I pretty much kept to myself, since I tend to be a lot older than most of my neighbors, and my immediate neighbor, who is not friendly at all because she worked. I have trees behind me, and I was always happy to just be out there with the birds and squirrels, etc. Then my neighbor retired and all of a sudden after six years of never talking to me she started getting very friendly because she’s alone and has no family down here. She had to have a procedure done and told me she had no one to take her so I took her. Then I find out later that she does have a few acquaintances, and one offered to do it. well then she got friendly with the lady on the other side of her and I stayed away from her because she is a clairvoyant/channeling/reiki healing. I could not deal with that. Well, every time my neighbor sits out in the evening she text me and tells me to come out and I don’t know how to nicely tell her I don’t want to. the other night I was getting ready to take a shower at 6 PM because I wasn’t going anyplace. No one was coming over and she texted me and told me to come out and I said I was getting in the shower. She said it’s too early for you to get in the shower. Put your clothes on and come out. and I thought lady you’re not my mother number one and number two I’m 82 years old you’re 59 I don’t enjoy sitting with you. I am just so happy to be in my home and do some little crafting that I do. Trying to learn how to do simple watercolors and practicing calligraphy. While listening to soft music. It has gotten to a point where I dread taking my dog out because every time I do someone hears me go outside and they come out and start with all this drama that’s going on in the neighborhood. I just want to be left alone. I wish I had a stand alone house but with the economy and price of homes, moving is not an option. Thanks for listening.

I love being in solitude. I always find plenty to do. Sometimes this involves just sitting quietly listening to the birds. I am 69 and have had a lot of trauma in my life so I love being an introvert. I do have friends and I chat on the phone to them but don't spend much physical time with them. I may see them every few months. I understand it when you say that people can be harsh on those who are not extroverts.
It's awesome that I can sit in silence & feel so comfortable, I can enjoy my thinking time in solitude sipping tea or looking at nature, I can move about alone & enjoy the simple things along the way. I am never bored, even if I am not doing anything! I don't need much because so much is within me. I am ever so grateful that I have been created by the AL'Mighty to be this way..... I moved from a very urban area to a rural, mountain town in another state. My closest neighbors are cows now. It's wonderful. Haven't heard a police siren, ambulance siren, or planes flying overhead in years. Love it.
I’ve turned into an introvert with age ..I am 62 and soooo at peace with my alone time now ..my social battery gets depleted quickly ..I get some solace and feel rejuvenated 😊
I literally don't give a fig what people think about the way I live. I used to be a party girl until I had a bad accident and almost died. I took it as a sign to reevaluate my life and who I'd become. I stopped partying, started to hang out in my own company and got to know the real me without all the distraction. I sold my flat and now live in my van with my dog, Moo. At 56 I'm the happiest I've ever been wandering from place to beautiful place in nature. Being an introvert, to me anyway, is a gift I treasure. ❤

I need to be in the company of very compatible people to feel happy and to choose to sacrifice my pleasant solitude which is very fulfilling for a while. These types of people are extremely rare, those who can offer me such an experience comparable to my joyful life alone. I never feel lonely by myself.I do feel frustrated or angry however when I am around 95% of people. Their ideas actions and words do not match mine. So it is very negative for my soul to hang around such people, groups or crowds. I find my company the best ! And also my animals and plants are a very good company. Only 5% of people I can stand interacting with without feeling disgusted afterwards.
I'm a little hermit and I enjoy it utterly! I'll see people, oh once or twice a year, but mostly it's just me, my bloke and a great cup of tea! Let the world mock me, I am happy, it's good!

Finding this video has made my morning. I’m 74 been married 56 years and don’t like crowds etc. I have very few real friends who I know I can trust. I’ve always been made to feel ashamed or guilty because I prefer walks in the country or on the beach in winter when it’s empty. I felt inadequate because I wasnt in the ‘in crowd’ but now I’ve discovered so many people are the same and I feel that’s it ok to prefer a quiet life. Thank you and bless you.
Hello from Canada. I am definitely an introvert as I work from home and all of my spare time is spent in my garden with the birds, butterflies, and squirrels. I have a comfy sitting place and I read and write. During our long winters, I use our spare bedroom which I've turned into a library. My husband is a dear but I don't mind that he works long hours and I have the house to myself for much of each day. I do worry about the time when he retires. He needs to find a hobby so that we each have our own time and we can come together in the evening and share our time then; like we always have.

always been introvert.. realized: more people more competition who is the loudest, who is the greatest clown, who is the person who everyone follow people in big groups are unneeded drama, usually pretty fake and toxic relationships drugs, alcohol, partying till 4am... waste of your time, money and health.. all just distraction from life and slowing you down to reach your goals building your ideal life.. small circle of friends and just your company and if you are pet person yes have a pet its enough for me! me and my dog explored new place in the forest it was lovely, peaceful day
I too am an introvert. I do enjoy friends and family in small doses I seem to have a hard-wired maximum of 2 hours before I start to go crazy and want to leave and be alone.

I'm not sure if it's Nature or Nurture, but I've always enjoyed my own company, though I'm not shy nor really introverted in the common understanding of such. I like times of quiet and thinking, not being always "connected" by and with technology. I have no meaningful social media, though, obviously, I watch some RUclipss. I can be perfectly content in being alone even in a crowd, if that makes sense, as much as being alone on my own. I can be amiable to strangers in public, engaging when socially necessary, but I can turn these on and off. I'm very comfortable in my own skin, I don't crave company. I'm unafraid of being alone. I'm grateful for every day. I have no real fear of living or dying. I've found that I'm likely a Stoic in so many ways. I'm weird, I guess. But I like how I am.

I love solitude. I can spend time with people but it can be quite draining. Alone time in nature is my happy place and the best way to restore my soul. I feel fortunate to have been able to have so much alone time as a child, thanks to a single mother who worked all day, and grandparents who were happy I could occupy myself most of the time. The worlds I created then, alone or with a few well chosen friends, were all I needed to feel full. I never felt loneliness. Never had a moment where I didn’t have something to do when solitude came calling! Now, as an adult, I strive to maintain those same vast inner worlds. More than a decade ago, I met a woman as introverted as I am though, at times, she still wrestles with what society “expects of us” and with her more social upbringing. We’ve built an art practice that allows us to work from home full time and our days are often spent pursuing new ideas independently and together, working on our garden, caretaking our two cats and visiting with the birds and other small creatures we’ve drawn to our backyard. Of course, we each allow for plenty of individual alone time as well. Both of us love to write and to explore our inner worlds in that way as well. I can’t imagine my life being more full, nor adding much more to it. Silence and solitude are treasures. Each day is full. Thanks for sharing your own moments here. Be well!
I may be way off but, I empathise with this sisters choice of life style. I myself inadvertently disconnect from the people around me and find a simple way of living connects me to a deeper things. This sister must have such an amazing sense of peace….

I’m an introvert as well. I love silence, seclusion and solitude..I just dont enjoy the company of most people..my parents told me as a teen that there must be something wrong with me. They just didnt understand that I was perfectly ok..it makes me sad knowing that people still think that introverts have something wrong with them with them or are depressed…

As an introvert, I do hate that people think there is something wrong with being satisfied spending time alone. When my husband died three years ago after being married for 47 years I was able to adjust to being on my own. I don’t always like it, I miss his company so very much. But I am ok making my way on my own and many, even my own family, do not understand.❤

What I would give to live in a French cottage like that, in France - where my ancestors came from! That aside, I started being in introvert when society gave too many pressures on family - probably 30 years ago. I was a stay at home Mom and cared for my family. I now live in a home built in 1757, live as a modern day minimalist with 27 acres of woods and 5 acres of farm land. I rescue thrown away farm animals. I bake my own bread, grow my own herbs, dry my clothes on a line, dry my lavender and herbs, collect the eggs from my chickens who I adore. I seldom go outside my farm land - Maybe once every other week to get groceries of things not grown here. We live in harmony here. This is my sanctuary.

It's called balance. Everyone has a different balancing point but I do believe either extreme (wanting to be alone all the time or needing to be with lots of people all the time) is unhealthy. All my family are dead except one sister who choses to be estranged. plus I am a senior so I get my social interaction working part time in a store. A few hours a day with a steady stream of people, which I enjoy, then coming home to the blissful quiet of my home where I pursue solitary interests. The balance is right for me. I dread when I have no work and I am completely alone 24/7. That is not my balance.

I’m an introvert, no husband, no children. It’s just me, myself and I. I have friends but not any close friends. Most of my friends are married, live out of state or are committed to someone and my time with them is limited. I don’t crave anymore to be somewhere doing something either by myself or with a friend. I’m 77 years old and just plain tired. I want to be more healthy. I long to have more energy to live each day productive and satisfied that the day was fulfilled. My peace is not in the city I live in but being with nature away from computers, the internet and iPhones. My peace is in the Africa bush with its wildlife, with the wind blowing in my face and a camera taking my best photos. I savor every moment living my best and feeling alive in the Africa bush.🦁🐘🦒

What a story similarity to myself, but one thing I concern about is when i get sick and no one to call for help, I know 2 people as kind of my friend, but we don't see each other or don't get connected much, maybe 4 times a year we talk, but other than that, nothing or no one else's. I can relate. I live in a big city and on my street are ALL married couples. Some are in their 30's and early 40's and all their friends are also people in their ages and they have their young children or teenagers. Yes, there are some older people too in my block, but they are always with their grown kids and grandkids. Since I am now a senior citizen, I feel I really have nothing in common as I have never been married and no kids or grandkids.
There was one lady in her early 60's I used to talk to sometimes but even though she doesn't work (her husband works) , she was always busy every day taking care of her grandkids and then busy with her husband when he comes home from work. So I just felt she didn't really want to be friends, or have anything in common with me, because she is always busy with her family members. So it is hard to find friends anymore and I am alone most of the time.

Yes, I am in the same situation. I have absolutely no family at all, not even a distant one. I have two cats. I don't even have a car so I can't really get out too much, especially with extremely hot weather around 100 degrees or more and too hard to take buses in this weather. I have to go out for groceries once week and post office next to market. I worry too, if I got sick what would I do and who will take care of my two cats. It is a hard life actually to be in this position. I don't have neighbors to talk to. They are busy with their jobs, spouse, kids or grandkids and all their family. I am like a lone sheep.

Thank you for this. I had my heart broken ten years ago and decided the pain was something I would never wish to endure again. Since then I have found solitude and time to heal. I prefer my life now and at 70 years of age will probably be alone for good. I have happy memories too that I can draw on and a life well spent. God bless to all those who are alone. I was always judged as being stuck up when in reality I was shy. I still am on occassion. I don't like crowds or get togethers. I retired az an elder caregiver where I worked one on one. Now when I go out to grocery shop or do errands I feel exhausted not because of the physical, I just feel drained being in stores that are always crowed
@@debc315Yes, stores and shopping centres are incredibly draining. I have a very short battery and feel anxious very quickly. Too much going on in those situations.
@@c.o3301 That is so true. I still enjoy shopping but it is not with the peace and joy the way it used to be. I am thankful that Our Lord provides for our needs. Peace was shattered last fall in Maine here after two mass shootings that occured not too too far from where I live and shop. If I didn't know Jesus as my Risen Savior I would be living in fear every moment.
My son is my only child. And he is an extrovert. He tries to be friends with all the children and adults he meets. He has problems. He did not speak until he was 4 and had a hard time understanding speech. But this did not stop him from making friends. He was just born an extrovert.

Lovely video. I am an introvert and am productive and peaceful when alone. However I have been happily married for 50 years this October. He understands me and he is a bit like me. He is not threatened by me needing space and our time together is wonderful.
You are lucky. 38 years married and my husband still doesn’t get me, he often calls me weird…lol. I don’t care what anyone thinks anymore, and I don’t go places anymore if I don’t want to. The first half of my life I did what others wanted me to. This last half of my life, I am only going do what I want, what makes me happy and if that is being by myself so be it. I hardly ever feel lonely, I enjoy my own company.

Sitting out on the swing watching the dragonflies flit about the yard. Perfectly comfortable with complete silence. I know some family members think we are boring because we never go anywhere. Live with my two doggies and its my heaven on earth. I had horrible relationships with the men I had in my life. Worked through damages and its best im alone. Im best on my own. I am a very creative person and i need to nurture that part of me.

“ feeling alone in a crowd” is what I am feeling these days. Age 80 and informed on current world events, it is easy to have uneasy settings with people who aren’t informed . I know this isn’t rare. Sad that I have had to come to conclusion to remove myself from some social settings with long term acquaintances.

It's difficult to have conversations with those who have difficulties understanding the truths about our reality. If I had one regret in my life it would be that I didn't have the wisdom in my earlier years like I have today. I was so naive about the world back then. Life would have been so much different if I had the knowledge that I have today.

I'm happy with my own company and resonate with this. I guess the only trouble with this mentality is when most people still seem to appreciate one or two special people in their lives. Probably those people very much appreciate you too. If you always took the mentality that you're happy with your own company how would you have met them? I have a friend that is a musician and used to play out all the time, giving many people joy. He subsequently met his partner at a large gathering, and gradually decided he was happier just with her at home growing food, home schooling his children and became cynical about all the festivals and parties he used to go to. Of course, without those gatherings he wouldn't have had the family he now enjoys.
I feel there is something selfish in not contributing to social life as much as you can, partly because you never know when you might meet someone that brings a fresh and valuable perspective to your life - none of us know it all - and because social gatherings are necessary for people to meet one another; even introverts may well want an intimate relationship at least, and an introvert at a party will certainly value the presence of another introvert that they can escape to a quiet corner with to catch a breath. I know because this happens to me. But this criticism is aimed at myself as much as anything. I have a dream house on a bit of land where I grow vegetables and have a smalle forest that I planted. I love the peace, and escape from judgement.
I recently became quite paranoid from going to many social gatherings and then feeling like I'd been excluded. Strange considering I like being on my own anyway. The easy thing would be to say I don't need any of that, I'll just stick to myself and my routine. But I don't think it's the right thing to do. Groups of people have toxic characteristics. I think it's inevitable people strive for heirarchy, probably unconsciously, within groups, and this leads to jealousy, competition and other undesirable characteristics. But they're comprised of individual people that have their struggles the same as everyone else, you can contribute to their wellbeing by being understanding, and get a better perspective of your own issues by dialogue with others.
'Your childhood defines who you're going to be as an adult.' - That's very true!
My childhood:
Alone time with the family dog, playing with my Barbies, sewing Christmas gifts for family members, making homemade concord grape jelly with the neighbors grapes or baking an apple pie to rival the one grandma used to make, bike riding anywhere and everywhere, because we could do it back then and make it home safely by nightfall, listening and singing to music, sometimes writing my own songs, and drawing whatever drew my attention to on that day, nature or the neighbors house, the picture on a greeting card, even my sister's doll baby.
When the sun was good and hot I got my vitamin D from sunbathing while reading a good book. Those were the good old days.
For me, my garden and my plants are happiness in life.
I value silence above all else, I am finding it really difficult to find a home I will be happy in. My society keeps building new estates and the houses are all crammed together, shared driveways and neighbourhood fences to encourage community. Makes me feel more isolated. A world built for extroverts.

I soo can relate. My little town was soo ideal for quiet living now all the beautiful farm lands gone turned into sub divisions and homes crammed together. It’s soo sad bc now our little town is sooooo crowded to just go to grocery store post office.
It gets more difficult in India. No laws on the noise levels and no strict civic sense or rules. I won't give you details. But, please pray for me. I am a woman just like you. And I crave silence in nature.

From childhood, I've been happiest with my own company and have never, ever felt lonely From childhhod, I've been made to feel weird, abnormal, peculiar, selfish etc for not wanting people around me constantly. So it's lovely to know that I'm not alone in my craving for solitude!
I am an introvert. Pretty much always was. I was married for 51 years. The first 13 years he was in the Navy and I was never really comfortable with having to do so much socialization. When he retired from the Navy, he went to work for AT&T, and again there were required parties, which I dreaded every time we had to go. he finally retired from there. We moved into a motorhome and traveled the United States for 14 years until he passed away in 2016. Yes, there was some socialization, but we could pick and choose what we wanted to do and the longer we did it the less we were inclined to join in. When he passed away, I moved back to Savannah Georgia to be near my daughter and bought a Townhouse. I pretty much kept to myself, since I tend to be a lot older than most of my neighbors, and my immediate neighbor, who is not friendly at all because she worked. I have trees behind me, and I was always happy to just be out there with the birds and squirrels, etc. Then my neighbor retired and all of a sudden after six years of never talking to me she started getting very friendly because she’s alone and has no family down here. She had to have a procedure done and told me she had no one to take her so I took her. Then I find out later that she does have a few acquaintances, and one offered to do it. well then she got friendly with the lady on the other side of her and I stayed away from her because she is a clairvoyant/channeling/reiki healing. I could not deal with that. Well, every time my neighbor sits out in the evening she text me and tells me to come out and I don’t know how to nicely tell her I don’t want to. the other night I was getting ready to take a shower at 6 PM because I wasn’t going anyplace. No one was coming over and she texted me and told me to come out and I said I was getting in the shower. She said it’s too early for you to get in the shower. Put your clothes on and come out. and I thought lady you’re not my mother number one and number two I’m 82 years old you’re 59 I don’t enjoy sitting with you. I am just so happy to be in my home and do some little crafting that I do. Trying to learn how to do simple watercolors and practicing calligraphy. While listening to soft music. It has gotten to a point where I dread taking my dog out because every time I do someone hears me go outside and they come out and start with all this drama that’s going on in the neighborhood. I just want to be left alone. I wish I had a stand alone house but with the economy and price of homes, moving is not an option. Thanks for listening.

I love being in solitude. I always find plenty to do. Sometimes this involves just sitting quietly listening to the birds. I am 69 and have had a lot of trauma in my life so I love being an introvert. I do have friends and I chat on the phone to them but don't spend much physical time with them. I may see them every few months. I understand it when you say that people can be harsh on those who are not extroverts.

It's awesome that I can sit in silence & feel so comfortable, I can enjoy my thinking time in solitude sipping tea or looking at nature, I can move about alone & enjoy the simple things along the way. I am never bored, even if I am not doing anything! I don't need much because so much is within me. I am ever so grateful that I have been created by the AL'Mighty to be this way.....

I am an introvert as well and I would love to live where you do! As you said when you’re alone you aren’t lonely and I’m the same way. I have friends who can’t understand why I like to be home and alone so much. The world beyond Ho e is so busy and noisy I have to have my alone time to recharge as well❤
I moved from a very urban area to a rural, mountain town in another state. My closest neighbors are cows now. It's wonderful. Haven't heard a police siren, ambulance siren, or planes flying overhead in years. Love it.

I literally don't give a fig what people think about the way I live. I used to be a party girl until I had a bad accident and almost died. I took it as a sign to reevaluate my life and who I'd become. I stopped partying, started to hang out in my own company and got to know the real me without all the distraction. I sold my flat and now live in my van with my dog, Moo. At 56 I'm the happiest I've ever been wandering from place to beautiful place in nature. Being an introvert, to me anyway, is a gift I treasure. ❤

This is the life I want. I have always been an introvert. I love silence and Peace.
I need to be in the company of very compatible people to feel happy and to choose to sacrifice my pleasant solitude which is very fulfilling for a while. These types of people are extremely rare, those who can offer me such an experience comparable to my joyful life alone. I never feel lonely by myself.I do feel frustrated or angry however when I am around 95% of people. Their ideas actions and words do not match mine. So it is very negative for my soul to hang around such people, groups or crowds. I find my company the best ! And also my animals and plants are a very good company. Only 5% of people I can stand interacting with without feeling disgusted afterwards.
I'm a little hermit and I enjoy it utterly! I'll see people, oh once or twice a year, but mostly it's just me, my bloke and a great cup of tea! Let the world mock me, I am happy, it's good!

I am for sure an introvert. I love people, but do not need to seek them out. I feel connected to them without having to be among them.

I am also someone who doesn't get my energy from people..... in fact, l sometimes need a few days of solitude to balance out social interactions. At the age of 59 l have grown to cherish this quality in myself and l don't feel that l "have to fit in" anymore.
Finding this video has made my morning. I’m 74 been married 56 years and don’t like crowds etc. I have very few real friends who I know I can trust. I’ve always been made to feel ashamed or guilty because I prefer walks in the country or on the beach in winter when it’s empty. I felt inadequate because I wasnt in the ‘in crowd’ but now I’ve discovered so many people are the same and I feel that’s it ok to prefer a quiet life. Thank you and bless you.

Hello from Canada. I am definitely an introvert as I work from home and all of my spare time is spent in my garden with the birds, butterflies, and squirrels. I have a comfy sitting place and I read and write. During our long winters, I use our spare bedroom which I've turned into a library. My husband is a dear but I don't mind that he works long hours and I have the house to myself for much of each day. I do worry about the time when he retires. He needs to find a hobby so that we each have our own time and we can come together in the evening and share our time then; like we always have.
I too, don’t live alone but crave alone time. I am an introvert who has moments of enjoying other’s company. I really enjoyed your video. I found it calming. Stay well and happy.

people in big groups are unneeded drama, usually pretty fake and toxic relationships
drugs, alcohol, partying till 4am... waste of your time, money and health..
all just distraction from life and slowing you down to reach your goals
building your ideal life..
small circle of friends and just your company and if you are pet person yes have a pet
its enough for me! me and my dog explored new place in the forest

I too am an introvert. I do enjoy friends and family in small doses I seem to have a hard-wired maximum of 2 hours before I start to go crazy and want to leave and be alone.
I find the inevitable micro aggressions I get from them, too much, and in the cost benefit analysis, solitude wins hands down.

This resonated with me so much. I love to have alone time and now in my 50’s I have only felt able to fully accept and embrace my introverted nature in the last few years. I too have felt judged and criticised, especially as an introvert in a very extrovert family. Accepting who I am and not feeling I have to hide it has been so freeing. Thank you for this 😊

I'm not sure if it's Nature or Nurture, but I've always enjoyed my own company, though I'm not shy nor really introverted in the common understanding of such. I like times of quiet and thinking, not being always "connected" by and with technology. I have no meaningful social media, though, obviously, I watch some RUclipss. I can be perfectly content in being alone even in a crowd, if that makes sense, as much as being alone on my own. I can be amiable to strangers in public, engaging when socially necessary, but I can turn these on and off. I'm very comfortable in my own skin, I don't crave company. I'm unafraid of being alone. I'm grateful for every day. I have no real fear of living or dying. I've found that I'm likely a Stoic in so many ways. I'm weird, I guess. But I like how I am.

I love solitude. I can spend time with people but it can be quite draining. Alone time in nature is my happy place and the best way to restore my soul. I feel fortunate to have been able to have so much alone time as a child, thanks to a single mother who worked all day, and grandparents who were happy I could occupy myself most of the time. The worlds I created then, alone or with a few well chosen friends, were all I needed to feel full. I never felt loneliness. Never had a moment where I didn’t have something to do when solitude came calling! Now, as an adult, I strive to maintain those same vast inner worlds. More than a decade ago, I met a woman as introverted as I am though, at times, she still wrestles with what society “expects of us” and with her more social upbringing. We’ve built an art practice that allows us to work from home full time and our days are often spent pursuing new ideas independently and together, working on our garden, caretaking our two cats and visiting with the birds and other small creatures we’ve drawn to our backyard. Of course, we each allow for plenty of individual alone time as well. Both of us love to write and to explore our inner worlds in that way as well. I can’t imagine my life being more full, nor adding much more to it. Silence and solitude are treasures. Each day is full. Thanks for sharing your own moments here. Be well!
I may be way off but, I empathise with this sisters choice of life style. I myself inadvertently disconnect from the people around me and find a simple way of living connects me to a deeper things. This sister must have such an amazing sense of peace….
