I've seen the pumkins play 7 times and 5 with Jimmy. One of the best drummers of his era for sure and rock music. Just saw themast week and they played this accoustic with no drums. I was a bit disappointed...
Fascinating how he chose two different figures on the snare "roll" sections of the verses. He does open singles all center strikes then more of a closed feel roll with a rim shot accent. Then just alternates between the two figures. It's subtlety like that that creates great art. Really brilliant.
I love a lot of music and a lot of drummers but I think this may still be the only drum work that's ever made me cry. Even hearing it isolated. Man, it's so moving.
Time is never time at all You can never ever leave Without leaving a piece of youth And our lives are forever changed We will never be the same The more you change, the less you feel Believe Believe in me Believe, believe That life can change That you're not stuck in vain We're not the same, we're different Tonight Tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight Tonight And you know you're never sure But you're sure you could be right If you held yourself up to the light And the embers never fade In your city by the lake The place where you were born Believe Believe in me Believe, believe In the resolute urgency of now And if you believe there's not a chance Tonight Tonight Tonight, so bright Tonight Tonight We'll crucify the insincere tonight (Tonight) We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonight (Tonight) We'll find a way to offer up the night (Tonight) The indescribable moments of your life (Tonight) The impossible is possible tonight (Tonight) Believe in me as I believe in you Tonight Tonight, tonight Tonight Tonight
The drummer who plays for Smashing pumpkins now can never play this with the right tempo as Jimmy Chamberlain did, it's so important to the song as well. Love you JC. My favorite drummer in the world 🌎💯
@@ObeseChess For a while they had a replacement. He was quite young, I can't think of his name but he could never get the right tempo for Tonight Tonight. I didn't know Jimmy Chamberlain was back with the pumpkins though.
oh, yeah, Mike Byrne! Nice dude, local to me. Super talented. He was in from 09-2014. Jimmy came back in '15, seemingly for good this time.@@victorpeirce4753
I’d be so happy so be side stage and just quietly watch him. So powerful and technical but look how little energy he uses. He’s like the opposite of a Dave Grohl or other heavy hitters. He still takes drum lessons twice a week.
In a decade with some incredible drummers and performances, this was the best. The drums made this song.
Along with Matt Cameron and Dave Abbruzzese

Jimmy is a ridiculously talented drummer.
That’s true
My favorite drummer of all time...
He’s so freaking good. And also has a very unique style. No one sounds like him drumming

I love this version because you can really clearly hear the kick driving the song along.

True
Always get goosebumps when I listen to it!
i remember 1st time hearing this song..i went bananas..snare roll almost entire song..never been heard before..work of genius
All these years and I had no idea the timing was this beautiful. The bass drum was new to me....
Best drummer in the world
He is not playing, he is speaking
Love this drummer so much. His sensitive approach, finesse, musicality and creativity. He is not only playing the song, he is blending with it.
JC, my hero!
Top drummer

I love that Weather Report influenced beat during the verses and the snare work’s awesome!

One of my personal heroes ❤
He looks so relaxed!
Thank you. This is amazing.
Grandissimo❤
Much more interesting than watching B0lly lurch around the stage in a black mumu.
*Fantástico*
Thanks for this
Bellissimo
Guaoooo! Excelent
Jimmy!
いまだにこの人以上のドラマーは知らん。
小学生の時に知ってからずっとファンだな。
Check out the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. His experimental jazz band. Amazing stuff!
Hay alguna versión completa de está catedra en RUclips?
Really cool drumming song, somewhat similar to The Who's "I can See For Miles"
❤
Bro is right there and you’re recording it off the monitor? Smh
jimmyyyyyyyyyyy good piece of smashing pumpkins,...equally to billy, james and darsy
I love Danny, but Jimmy is my fucking favorite and in my opinion THE best

… Jimmy is still in the Pumpkins, though? I just saw them a few weeks ago. What am I missing?

That one cymbal sounds like shit lol but he’s still the man

Are you kidding me????!??
I love Jimmy, but I'm not a huge fan of the cymbals he's using nowadays.
U guys checked out Mansons Drummer. Brendan Portzen he has RUclips. Ridiculous how young and amazing he is
Is that his kit because it sounds terrible. Especially that cymbal at the start.
jimmy's such a great drummer but his drumset always sounds like trash
