The people in Murphy's are incredibly nice. Gave my son a free ice cream last time I was in. I recommend the green tea flavour. I'm from near the Burren but I'd say the Ring of Kerry and west Cork are probably the nicest part of the country if I had to choose.
We drive on the left over here in the UK and Ireland because most people are right handed and, in ye olden times, it kept your sword arm free to fend off some foe coming the other way. That's also why the spiral staircases in those old castles go up in a clockwise direction. Soldiers defending the castle, being mostly right handed, had the advantage wielding a sword against most invaders coming up the stairs.
@@nateandkatrinadotheworldso you know, to tell your friends back home..our politicians are destroying our country..our politicians are corrupt as well..
Hi there, about the Baseball caps in Europe, we also wear Baseball caps because we play Baseball, did you know thta the Netherlands were world campion in 2011, the Netherlands or Italy are European champions, I played Baseball all my live, I am a fan of the Mets and Red Sox! Salut de Gwada.
A “close” is pronounced as the second way you said it and it’s another word for a cul de sac or dead end. You see it used sometimes in suburban areas. So you could have a street called “Beech Road” and a small cul de sac off it called “Beech Close” or whatever.
hey, that’s just up the road! Glad to see you have a good time. And if you drink a pint of black here, Best try Murphies!! (Mutton lane has awesome pints)
@@nateandkatrinadotheworld :( sad sad times ;) But it was a great way to discover your channel. fun seeing you visit my old home town (Den Haag) and my new here in Cork! Do shout out when yous are in this neck of the woods again, and ill just might have to get ye a pint ;)
I mean here in Amsterdam we sort of are the kings of Tourist Traps. With our Nutella museums, Cheese and weed museums. Sex museum! But now these Irish they trick you into kissing a rock? For money? And you fell for it? You with your fear of germs? When did they think of this? During Covid no doubt. But hey, despite you having to pivot and had to make a quick decision on where to go, this vlog turned out great! Next week part two. Cant wait. Keep it up!
People have been kissing that stone for years! And we never thought we would do it... but when in Ireland, do as the Irish do! Thanks for following along!
@@thequietman760 So let me do the math. For some 500 years that stone was kissed by locals only? Yuck! You would expect that this could cause some serious epidemics.
O dear, sure it's lovely with all these nooks and crannies where they lure you with their wicked flutes and lyrical ballads and their singsongie pubs. Fairies got to you, didn't they? For Pete's sake, no Dubliners as background music, get a grip of yourselves!
You get used to it very quickly. You do have to remember it when you set out. Funnily enough, I sometimes have problems when I come back from driving on the left for a few weeks.

Finally, an explanation I can live with. 😂✌️

The roads aren't backwards, it's the side of the road most countries drove on originally.
The really big cliffs are further north in Donegal and Mayo. Slieve League and Croaghaun. Both are twice the height of the Kerry Cliffs.
OK you guys convinced me! I need to visit Ireland (again) I have been very shortly in Dublin and in Cork but that's it! It looks stunning!
Ireland is so beautiful! You should definitely plan another trip!
You were blessed with the weather.
It was great!
Glad to see you got out of dublin. The west coast is the most beautiful place on the island.
Totally agree!

People have been kissing the barney stone since the 1400's
@@thequietman760 So it must be the oldest Tourist Trap in the world.
@@Jan.Folkersma I didn't say tourist have been kissing the the stone since the 1400's. Tourists have been doing for well over 100yrs.

No you don't get luck from kissing the stone, you get the gift of the gab.
I kissed it to
