Who beat Turtles in Time?? Also what else should we react to? 🤔 Comment below! If you want to support the channel directly join our Patreon family 🖤 www.Patreon.com/knoxhill
I beat the Arcade Edition and the SNES version on Hardest. Classic!
You or Guarantees by Atmosphere. Deepest Blues, Animal Style, Okey Dog, or Everything by Murs. Neon Cathedral, Jimmy Iovine, or Next Year by Macklemore. The Coldest DC Comics Rap Ever! or The Hottest Marvel Comics Rap Ever! by VI Seconds.
Token, man he realky is good
Patty cake and doozy are one of his greatest songs no cap. Could you please react to him so i can see what i missed??
I beat the Turtles in Time. I haven't even gotten close to beating the original NES game. Epic breakdown as always!
I beat it back in the day, but never in the arcade (never seemed to have enough quarters).
Two uncommented references: "I'm a rap god and you can't quite touch me" = The Creation of Adam with Adam reaching out to God but not quite touching hands. The 'Go go go' backbeat at the end, reference to Vanilla Ice's theme for the movie, "Go, Ninja, Go"
Came here to say about the vanilla ice reference but you got there first
Yeah, that's right. Also, Michelangelo made that pose of God in the Creation of Adam
Could also be an eminem shoutout
@@therealshumbucket it could be but because it's the turtles and the cadence matches the vanilla ice song I'm pretty sure that's it. ERB does their research and it seems unlikely that it would be coincidence this sounds so close to the rap from the movie
@@Turantula true
The "I'm an emcee shredder" line is such an obscure bar. While most people know shredder as the antagonist of the turtles. What most don't know is the fact that in the comics. Raphael actually became shredder for a short time. Cool they made the artist Raphael have that bar.
Personally I kinda thought it was a reference to MC Escher
so a few things you might have missed:
1: the artists clothes have the same colors as their turtle counterpart.
2: Michelangelo said : save a slice for me, but he held the box in the end...
Also, Raphael saying he's rude is a reference to the original theme song lyrics.
Also, Slice through a group of ninjas like fruit, oops - references Fruit Ninja
Also the rap God line references the Creation of Adam, Adam trying to reach God but their fingers don't touch
Also, I'm pretty sure the "when you catch an Italian, boot to the half shell" is a reference to Super Mario. Famous italian plumber known for stepping on turtles.
Also, the artists call themselves "architects of rebirth". Renaissance is French for "rebirth" -> they are the architects of the Renaissance.
Rhett Link and Smosh. The combo we never knew we needed or deserved.
Rhett and Link bought Smosh later.
Literally own smosh now😂
@@connormcswiney8474not anymore oop
Fun fact: same radioactive substance that made ninja turtles, also blinded matt Murdock (daredevil) and gave him the super powers
Splinter and the Foot Clan are also references to Daredevils mentor Stick and his adversaries The Hand respectively.
I didn’t know that, interesting
Looking forward to the D+ series?
@@batfan1939 yes
Another fun fact, there's a comic series TMNT teaming up with Batman... doesn't that make them DC instead of Marvel?
Raphael (Turtle) sending Raphael (Artist) back to school is a reference to the School of Athens, which Raphael (Artist) painted
When he says “cool but rude guy” he is doing an “up yours” sign with his arms
"I'm a rap God and you can't quite touch me" is a reference to Michaelangelo's "The Creation of Adam" where God and Adam reach out to eachother but don't quite touch finger tips.
Love this beat, wish the battle was longer
69. Nice
True. Fun vibes
I agree, they barely gave the turtles time to rap. The artists hogged most of it.
If you like Rhett & Link they do another ERB as Lewis & Clark against Peter & Lloyd’s Bill & Ted. Don’t miss what goes on in the background on that one 😂
Also there is Right brothers vs Mario brothers.
My favorite of theirs is the Wright vs Mario brothers.
Also the Left Brothers vs the Luigi Brothers
Daily reminder to do Blackbeard vs Al Capone
Yes yes yes yes PLEASE!! It's so GOOD!!
Very much agreed
This!!
S2 AND S3 ERB WAS THE BEST IMO
THIS GUY RIGHT HERE
My favorite Turtle was always Donatello because of his intellect. I liked all of them for different reasons. I really enjoyed Turtles in Time as well Knox. Awesome job on the breakdown as per usual. This is a great one. Please do Albert Einstein vs Stephen Hawking. Keep it real. I just got my copy of Chaos Theory. Mad sick my guy.
Fun fact, when this rap first came out, it refused to leave my head for a solid few days. Actually made it hard to sleep lol
For an earlier, but still excellent ERB, watch Shakespeare vs. Dr. Seuss. Watsky plays Shakespeare, and gives perhaps the most insane rap in all of ERB.
Switching up my style like the Beatles with the pieces; each is such a wonder with a plethora of features. You're pathetically predictable -- you'd think your new book would include some trisyllabic metre and some ghetto Muppet creatures! The Bard is in the building! It's a castle, I'm a boss! I bet I'm Parliament; I'm positive I'm killing it! I'm iller than the plague I never caught - uh, cholera - a baller baller, on some cricket bowler business while you're sitting in the bleachers.
He delivers all that in about twelve seconds.
@@MKDumas1981 Then of course The Cat brings in the two that ENDS Shakespeare. "You rap fast you do. Yes you rap fast it's true, now let's see how you rap vs Things 1 and 2!" Best way to bring in the best and most chaotic rappers for a long time.
@@Thechaosmaster1997: I disagree. Bringing in TCitH was necessary, because Dr. Seuss couldn't speak. Thing 1 and Thing 2 were just angry and violent. They didn't really add anything to the battle, other than "We gon' kill yo ass!"
Your breadth of knowledge always astounds me. Much respect, dude.
He watches them in advance, does his research and then pretends that he's seeing them for the first time when he makes these videos.
My favourite turtle was always Donatello, he rocked that bo staff.
Donatello gang
He also created all their equipment.
Donnie and Mikey are the best man
The Donatello line of "I slice through a group of ninjas like fruit, oops" is both a Fruit Ninja (sliced banana) and a Fruit Loops (homophone with fruit oops) reference. Weird that Knox missed it, even as a surface level bar.
Artists are also known to paint fruit.
I think he just laughed at it, like it was such an obvious one he didn't need to point it out
Donatello fan here. He was smart in a way that spoke to me and I appreciated his weapon: reach, potential non lethal, could be used for other things if necessary. It probably helped that other people gravitated toward Leonardo and Michaelangelo early and Raphael after the first movie came out but I never had to fight anyone to be/play with Donatello
Trust me, bo staff are not non lethal. It's much easier to kill someone with a bo staff than with nun chucks.
Bo staffs are extremely deadly and one of the most fearsome martial arts weapons.
I was one of the lesser Donatello fans, all of them were cool but he was smart and had a very understated weapon. The bo staff is not only a great weapon by itself, but with it as your main form of weapon training if you are disarmed in battle it is very easy to find a replacement almost anywhere, sticks handles of tools etc. Also I loved both games and I still have them packed up in some box somewhere, a lot of games that were hard at that time is because they were also arcade games and the way they made money was by getting you to use a lot of coins, it is also why a lot of them are short because they didn't rely on a lot of gameplay they relied heavily on multiple deaths
Exactly!! These are some of the same reasons I thought Donatello was the best.
AGREED!
Donatello is the turtle I love the most, because he was the most brilliant member of the team, coming up with all their vehicles and gadgets.
Also Knox you missed the reference to the Fruit Ninja game series in Artist Donatello's first part.
"Born in goop, raised in poop and I slice thru a ninja like fruit, oops!"
Just being reminded of the silliness of Fruit Ninja puts a smile on my face.
That just tells you how passe the once-viral game now is...
I think it also references a bad TMNT themed Froot Loops cereal knock-off
Just like almost everyone here, I'm a Donatello fan. The style of the beat is from 90s NY B-boy rap, like Beastie Boys, which is very fitting to the place and time where the TMNT gained popularity. ERB uses beats that compliment the theme of the battles.
Also when DaVinci says he turns turtles into mincemeat, he might be referring to how he would literally pay grave robbers to bring corpses that he would butcher in order to learn about human anatomy.
If you beat the NES game...you're either a savant or you had a game genie.
Man I forgot about game genie
lol, My cousin beat it without a game genie, and beat the infamous water level without taking damage. I just sat there in tital awe watching as a kid.
I had the game genie. You had to not hit the flames in the last world or the game would crash if you used invincibility
Knox I know that the "pause a lot" is a staple, and sincerely, it's awesome how you dissect each detail of the battle, but maybe you should watch for a tad bit more and give use longer segments and then go back into it to break it down. Kinda like how you did with the "Fired Up!" segment from Darth vs Adolf 3.
I think it would make your reactions even better, awesome videos dude, keep it up!
The Italian boot to the half shell thing could also be a Mario reference
"Italian boot to the half shell" I think is also a Mario reference, how he kicks the turtle shells and is Italian
I was that rare Donatello fan. Growing up I was a bit of a nerd, so I was naturally drawn to the turtle that was brainy and inventive. Regardless of which turtle I liked best, I was a huge Turtles fan in general. I had the toys, read the comics, watched the cartoon, played the video games, and even played the in the TMNT roleplaying system. Still have most of those things in my collection today. Good memories.
"Can't quite touch me" could be a reference to MC Hammer doing Turtle Power for the first movie. The "Go Go Go" at the end as the turtles are walking away could be a reference to Vanilla Ice's Ninja Rap from the second. Also Donatello was the best for me.
I love the ERB reactions Knox, I still think RoboCop and Terminator is one of my favorites!
Yes !! It should be next 🔥
Yes!!!
Yes
Michaelangelo and Raphael are the most popular turtles.
My favorite turtle was Leo. Loved how he was the responsible warrior of the group.
First
This was frickin awesome lol I'm glad you did this one hearing you say Gattamelata was worth it. And I've watched this rap battle so many times since it came out, and never once recognized Rhett and Link. But I did see Ian and Anthony. AND IT SAYS RHETT AND THINK IN THE CREDITS. You werent the only one on the short bus Knox. I feel ashamed lol
This is really something I look forward to every week. Thanks for the great content!
Fun fact: Over here in Germany (and the rest of Europe as well) they were renamed as "Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles" because the stupid censorship guys thought that the word NINJA could promote aggressive behaviour... 2 scenes were cut out as well and they put in "comic sounds" during fights.
🤣🤣 Now that is funny. Did not know that - thanks for sharing!
I’ve been hoping you’d react to this one, it’s one of my favorites ❤️ thank you!
Michelangelo was always my favourite. He was the one that was easiest to relate to as a kid, Donatello too, but Michelangelo just spoke to me more! :)
I personally like Raphael the best out of the TMNT. He was always the badass with an attitude. After him, it's a tie between Michaelangelo and Donatello, then Leonardo last. I liked Mikey because he was the funny one, and I liked Don because he was the tech/nerd.
Been waiting for you to review this one man, one of my favorite ERB and one of the few I have memorized.
This is (by many (MANY) awesome ERBs), my absolute favourite. 💯 Love to see your take on it ❤
love your videos,by far the best reactor..i’d love to see more erb 🐐 🔥
OMG - I literally just checked yesterday if you had done this one yet and was sad to see you hadn't -- and then what do I see in my sub feed . . . yay!
The best one out yet! Low 🔑 I was also wondering about the "Artist's" that they had going on.... 👏👏👏👍 that was NICE..
I’ve been waiting for this one.
These breakdowns are always 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've been waiting for this
Yoooo been waiting on this one.
"Put you back in school with the tip of my two sai!" references Raphael's "School of Athens" painting which is where the Artists battled in the ERB.
That six foot chisel line was a bit deeper. It was a reference to a chisel, which he used, but also a play on "I wouldn't touch you with a six foot pole." And then, it goes a step further because the bo-staff that the turlte Donatello uses is literally a six foot pole.
I was a Michelangelo fan as a kid. I loved the energy he brought. Rebellious and mischievous but always showed up when he needed to.
I love that you picked this one, it's one of my favorites! If you're going into childhood ones, you gotta do Dr. Seuss vs Shakespeare next then. Plus, it's got Watsky in it.
Another amazing video Knox 🔥🔥
YOOOO!!!! I just discovered ur channel through this and I was hoping you'd done this, THE TIMING-
FINALLY! I've been recommending it for months
Lets go its about time know love the video man
I've been waiting for this one! This is my favorite ERB!
You've already covered all the rest of my top ones except Pablo Picasso vs Bob Ross, so hopefully that's coming.
Since we're in the holiday season, I'm hoping we get Moses vs Santa Claus.
(BTW: I was always a fan of Donatello. The brains and insight to use the longest reach weapon.)
I really miss Rhett and Links music i do wish they would make more the dynamic between them felt so old school and genuine
Never waited for a facepalm that much man😂😂 the « Artists » .. 😅🙏🏽❤️ big love Knox😅
Love your reactions and breakdowns. Would love to see the pablo vs bob reaction video.
Keep up the good work!
Yessssssss keep doing your thang my guy
The TMNT NES game is legendarily hard. It's basically on the same level as Battletoads.
And Final Fantasy 1 and 2 and 3. I had all of them and damn were they hard. That underwater defusing bombs while being shocked and running out of breath was a bitch.
@@Falcun21 Final Fantasy wasn't too bad but especially the first one you had to grind A LOT.
I played the TMNT game with my childhood best friend when we were like 6. It was so hard but er enjoyed every minute of it.
Am I crazy? I thought the Italian boot to the half shell was a Mario reference too.
Also, when Raphael says “put you back in school” - Raphael painted “School of Athens”
Bury my shell at wounded knee is one of my favorite stages in that game. The music from that stage still sticks with me
when raphael says put you back to school, it’s raphael’s painting of all the school where all the renaissance innovators went to is what he references
It's possible that the beat was in C minor (C Phrygian, actually, because of the Db) as an homage to the TMNT theme song being in C minor.
Heroes in a half-shell*
I love how knox knows alot of history and breaks them all down to determine the winner or kust talk about its more entertaining than sitting and watching people just sit and watch it and end the video.
Also loved how it had duos like good mythical morning and smosh together they were great
I prefer Donatello due to his use of the bo-staff, which I also use and his intellect and unorthodox way of thinking, which again reminds me of myself.
Fire vid, always love listening to ERB vids, no matter how cheesy they can be. Yo Knox, react to Hi-Rez's Overdrive! I need to hear you break that shit down now homie!
14:18 Gattamelata is the horse statue that is seen next to Rhett during Donatello's verse.
Raph was always my favorite. His first line in this one, "I'm cool but rude guy" is a reference the old school theme song "Raphael is cool but rude".
Same with Ralph being my fav but the line is actually ‘Cool but crude’ it’s a common misconception
Interesting, the c on crude is barely heard in the song.
@@passionsquietrage yeah I feel you on that, but if you listen close you can hear the ‘c’
Nice dude
Terminator vs. Robocop. It's actually really good. That, or Dr. Seuss vs. Shakespeare.
2:14 minute music video turned into 19 minutes? thats when you got to calm down
He check out overdrive ft. Krsna, tech 9, joell ortiz, twista!!
While there's a special spot in my heart for each of the turtles, Donny has always been my favorite. Always loved the Bo, Purple, and knowing how to build cool gadgets. He had it all.
Def a Mikey fan. Also, wasn't Donatello not actually a Renaissance artist, like he passed away a significant time before hand?
The shit you caught in this that went over my head for years is crazy. Actually improved my opinion on the turtles part of the raps, which I wasent the biggest fan of before. So good.
Oh I remember Turles in Time. A very hard game but very lovable. Glad Knox but up a good childhood memory.
Can you do Rick Grimes v Walter White next??
“Maybe I was just, you know, riding the short bus as a child…I dunno, I could’ve been” -Knox Hill 2021
Turtles in time was a challenge, but that dam(n) level in the original NES game was next to impossible.
man, this epic rap battles reactions are awesome and very informative. I watched these battles a long time ago and did not catch this many cool references. I am just curious if you pull this much knowledge seeing for the first time or you take a read on the subject you re about to react? Its very impressive
Ok bro, that was my favorite of your "whoever subscribes" intros so far.
Only Knox can make a 2 minute video a 19 minute video, thank God
I’m glad he finally did my favorite battle
MAN, I love your t-shirt😂😂
When Raphael (Artist) says "Deemed dope by the Pope" his hand moves like in a traditional prayer.
Rhett and Link also was in ERB’s other video, Lewis and Clark vs Bill and Ted.
This one definitely needed to be longer
Man, I remember playing TMNT on that old style giant ass arcade games, back in 99-2000. My dad took me with him when he went out to the bar with his buddies and the bar had an arcade. I kept losing but the whole bar kept inserting new coins so I can play more. Payed to be a cute kid, hahaha. Cool memories. Think I played for at least 5 hours.
You're the first reactor I can remember commenting on the play on the melody of the cartoon theme song.
Notifications ON
Definitely was a Don fan, really enjoyed the intelligent characters more and Don always had the brains of the group. Also purple
I have listened to this song an unknown amount of times over and over again and I have never picked app on that bebop and rock-steady line and tell got pointed out here.
Yo Knox, if you enjoy Rhett and Link, check out their Geek vs Nerd rap battle, its EXCELLENT
Also, that Fruit Ninja reference.
Might date the battle but so underrated
Knox, some trivia for you: The turtle suits were just one single suit that the ERB costumer made.
Making 4 suits would be crazy expensive so it makes sense.
Had to click as soon as I saw the notification
Knox buddy! Did you notice on the first set of the artist, nearly every time that Michaelangelo appeared, he was doing a pose from his works? First the thinker, then when he mentioned Rap God, his pose was the one he pained of God on the Sistine chapel. Another clever set of references to catch.
I have never wanted to miss new content from a youtuber because he's become so successfull that he just cnt do it anymore. Just found your channel and Killshot reaction. Keep spitting. #Donatello btw.
Finally! Much love for choosing my - and many others'- suggestion :-)
Edit: Michaelangelo all day!
Donnie and Mikey were my top two favorite Ninja Turtles. I love this Rap Battle so much!! So happy to see you react to it!
