- Germany's minister for Economic Cooperation and Development visited Burkina Faso as part of a trip to the Sahel. Svenja Schulze is the first European minister to visit the country since the latest coup took place. Burkina Faso is currently under its second successive military regime, and its departure from democracy - just like its neighbors Mali and Niger - has prompted condemnation from the region and beyond. But the visit by the German minister and a delegation of the Western-led donor group called the Sahel Alliance, suggests that the door to engagement is not shut.

Burkina Faso IS figthing against terrorisme more than 10 years. What Germany did to help them to figthing significantly against terrorisme ? Nothing. Russia help them, assist them militarily. This is why russia IS everywhere.

And for the 60 years, you can find an article by the embassy in Burkina Faso by typing "La coopération allemande au développement politique en détail" into google including the quotation marks (or "Die deutsche entwicklungspolitische Zusammenarbeit im Detail" if you speak German).
Burkina Faso is doing the right thing by departure from democracy because that's how uropeans colonies Africa through the word democracy.uropean countries have been taking our natural resources for free .viva Burkina Faso.

For Africa as a whole, Germany is one of the most important donor nations for developmental aid. for example, in 2018, aid to Africa from Germany was more than 5 billion euros, and that number was reached in the years before as well.
It is actually hard to give a simple answer because Germany has done so much that you do not get an easy overview.
Just take a 4 billion euros until 2030 initiative for sustainable energy that the German chancellor announced last year.

I like and admire many things about Germany e.g their _Mittelstand_ small and medium-sized enterprises. However, Russia has never colonized a single African country, and they were quite active in the fight against European imperialism over Africa, in Southern Africa and other places. Germans committed massive atrocities in countries like Namibia, Tanganyika/Tanzania etc. We hope that their approach to engagement has changed. Relative to the "others", it's they that need to work hard to rebuild their reputation, given their respective histories on the continent.

I don't quite understand why the minister from Germany says that they cannot leave Burkina Faso for Russia and China. Is Burkina Faso a German colony? Doesn't Burkina Faso have the right to self-determination? It is purely German colonial tradition. Burkina Faso is an independent state, and it is up to them to choose their strategic partners and not Germany.
They are afraid that Russia will be using Burkina Faso as a weapon against the West when they are fully dependent on Russia. Germany wants to keep that from happening and wants Burkina Faso prosperous, so its youth do not take up arms for in foreign countries and do not emigrate to Europe.
Germany does not think that Burkina Faso belongs to anyone but the citizens of Burkina Faso - who Germany thinks should get fair protection under equal laws and be allowed to freely elect their representatives to govern them. Why would Germany think that? Because that is how Germany is run, as they think it is a good system, so they would advise their friends to try as well. Why do you think Putin is supporting strongmen? We all think our own system is best. But all are free to listen to advise and ignore it, if it is found wanting. As long as one gets the facts and is not lied to, of course, one can choose what is best, but DW is working on providing access to facts as well. If you decide based on Russian disinformation, of course you will chose what is best for Russia, not what is best for Burkina Faso. It just so happens that Germany believes that what is Best for Burkina Faso is also best for Germany, so the interests of getting the truth out align.

The exports from Burkina Faso to Germany are less than the development aid provided. They mainly want to stop Burkina Faso from exporting militants and emigrants, and they want Burkina Faso richer so they can afford to buy more of Germany's exports (Exports from Germany to Burkina Faso are about ten times the imports to Germany from Burkina Faso).

If it was only about Russia, then Germany would not have been working with Burkina Faso for the last 60 years. The primary goal is a stable an prosperous Burkina Faso to reduce militancy and emigration and increase trade. The talk about Russia is mainly to justify the expense and to placate the Germans who do not like working with coupists and would prefer it if Burkina Faso's citizens where able to choose their government in free elections, like the Germans do for their own government.
Germany is welcome. But do not meddling in there choice with Russia if you want to cooperate with a sovereign country.

Great that German development cooperation didn’t withdraw from Burkina Faso. The military government has to decide how to engage and deal with them. I don’t think Germany needs to dictate terms but rather encourage dialogues and discussions. If no agreement or cooperation, ordinary people will be mostly affected.
