- I took my Leica R8 and a few rolls of Kodak Portra 400 and headed to the Westfjords of Iceland. Along with my friend Ívar @authenticiceland, we headed out into the Arnarfjörður fjörd on a boat and went exploring.

Beautiful images. Love the editing too. As a R8 user myself you raise the bar very high. Loved it.
Stunning scenery. Beautiful quality of the photos.
Both video & photography is amazing....so different than the usual abandoned cars on Route 66!
Thank you!

At a crossroads, having sold all digital gear last year but dithering due to film costs, resolution etc. and wondering about going back to it, I watched this for the 3rd, maybe 4th time and..
.. am adding a lens to my lens less R8, and sticking with film! Loved the images, esp. the sunset shots near the end of this brilliant video. Please do more.
Thank you so much! Amazing compliment! You will not regret the lens purchase :) .. check out the rest of my videos on my channel.. also more coming!

Thanks Felix!

Absolutely stunning 😍
Absolutely fantastic!

Bloody hell Kodak Portra must be flipping expensive in Iceland. It’s pricey enough here in the U.K.
subbed! and really beautiful videography as well!

Hello David! This is really a great video and some decent pictures! I personally own a Leica R8 and I can totally relate the joy of taking pictures with this camera. I just happen to be curious about the story about Kirstie you mentioned at 1:04, I tried to do some research on that but I couldn’t find anything about Kirstie, his brother in law and anything related to Bildudalur. Can you give me some more information to look into? Thanks a lot ❤
The story is of Gísla saga Súrssonar
Thank you for taking us with you on your fantastic trip. I really like the honest and calm voice over. Your pictures turn out to be truly amazing. The Colors are beautiful and its like you captured the experienced moment authentically. I wish you many more great adventures with your Leica :) Greetings from Germany
superb , i just go there in winter, this part of Iceland is amazing but so crazy to drive in snow time
Yeah .. you have to be super careful there in the wintertime. But sooo worth it.
such a inspiring trip. thank you
Thank You Leopold!
Beautiful video. Thank you for making it :) Hope to see some more in the future
Thank you Alex
Very nice video. I have to admit, sometimes I had to laugh when you talk like Herbert from Family Guy 😄😉
Iceland is so inspiring ! I travel 6 times in this marvelous country, last time in 2019 in the Westfjords, and each time it was magical…
Makes me miss Iceland so much. Can’t wait to be back someday soon. Beautiful video, definitely subscribing.
You should definitely come back some day! Thank you!
You should get more recognition bro, your videos and photos are absolutely gorgeous, love it bro 💯💯
I appreciate that!
Great video and pics ! Keep it up !
Thank You!!
Nice Video
great work!! makes me want to go back to iceland so bad and visit the westfjords!!
Thanks Chris!
Nice video! Nice pics! Wondering what f-stop did you use. The analog pics seem deep focused, even for a 24mm.
Around f5.6 - F8 if I remember correctly :)
This is such a beautiful and calming video and superb images. Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and I’ve been there twice - but not at an age where I could hold a camera so can’t wait to come back. Honestly a film photography goldmine you got here, excited I found your channel and can’t wait to see what’s to come !
Great video! I was fortunate to visit Reykjavík a couple of years ago and hope to return soon. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thank you Warrren! Always welcome back to Iceland.
Beautiful pictures David! What scanner did you use? And, did you edit the jpegs?
nice! how did you shoot with all the gears? drone, video, and film camera. i wouldn’t be able to do that haha
Flot og smukt!
Thanks!
Is this the Paradise ?
I would say yes.
Would you mind sharing what mode did you use in your r8 to shoot these pictures? Also, how much digital editing did you do after scans? Excellent pictures… thank you.
Hi! I chose the R8 because I like the camera + it has a high shutter speed so you can shoot wide open in bright daylight. I didn't really do any editing. I got these back from the labv like they are. Maybe played with contrast a little bit.

Thank you for the quick reply. I just bought an R8 myself and I was wondering about the P mode. It sounds like you might had shot in Manual or aperture priority mode in these pictures, is that right?
@@iM-mf1ke i cant remember but probably aperture priority
David, is that 28mm lens?
Its a 24mm Leica elmarit f2.8 R mount.
Flott myndband og ennþá betri myndir!
Takk!
Please share the music you used in this video!
Þetta er dásamlegt! vel gert
Planned to go Iceland this year but....... :'(
Hopefully this COVID situation will be over soon and then everything will be back to normal! :D
Great pictures. #filmisalive #filmisnotdead
