    Man, I found your channel probably last month..so good to find someone so enthusiast about strings! And that reviews them with your enthusiasm! Strings do make so much of a difference. Some say even the 70% of how the racquet plays (that Babolat guy here on RUclips is right haha).
    Because I've had wrist issues in the past, I try to go for 1.30 gauge for less shock. And try to go for low powered, muted strings, soft polys, for the comfort.
    Some strings I think you can like and review are: Topspin CyberBlue, Topspin CyberFlash, Gosen Poly Professional, Wilson Revolve,
    Love this! Just subscribed! And excited and waiting for your next video!

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 года назад +1

      Hey welcome and so glad you like the videos! I've always loved strings and the physics behind it all so I figured there needs to be a string show where we can all share our passion for strings and the great game of tennis.
      I do have a question and want to clarify, you are saying that by using a thicker gauge string (like 1.30) it is less shock transferred because it has more weight and is more stable, much like the weight of a heavier racket?
      Interesting topic because the thinner gauge is softer and more comfortable, more elastic - but I guess is just one piece of the whole racket/string/stroke equation.

    • @jorgeandrescoppiano.5715
      @jorgeandrescoppiano.5715 4 года назад

      Vacation Tennis thank you very much man!!
      I’ve heard Troy Lara from Tennis Warehouse say the thinner the gauge, the more feel. Sometimes he says feel and feedback interchangeably. Sometimes he and TW are not so clear about it.
      Now that you say elasticity, he might call feel in thinner gauges as more ball pocketing, more cupping the ball.
      Yes a thicker gauge bumps up the Swingweight a little more. I don’t have a Babolat RDC or Head 3-in-1 for the numbers. But I was thinking the thicker gauges offer less vibration.
      Since the smaller the object on impact, the more high frequencies it has. Think guitar strings. Or people with smaller/thinner vocal folds, and skulls.
      Maybe I don’t like so high frequencies feedback. I think people have more sensitivity different frequencies.
      So we would have to see what frequencies each of us like or not we don’t. So yes, “good” and “bad” frequencies are subjective. But we can point to which part of the spectrum we like.
      Also tension and material behaves are a good deal. Which you have pointed in your vids.
      Check this too:
      tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/the-thinner-the-gauge-the-lower-the-tension.609808/
      So it depends on each string. each has its own chemical compound and gauge/tension behavior.
      I definitely like a plush feel, with control. So poly strings around 47-50 pounds for me

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 года назад +1

      @@jorgeandrescoppiano.5715 Hey that was a good read on the TW forum, interesting how some have a different experience than what "should" happen. Also that thicker gauge string moderates tension better like when exposed to heat and such.
      Anyway very cool to get deep into the nuances like frequency and vibration

    Used to get Spin G a couple years ago, thought it was a pretty good string, and very durable for people who didn't like to restring too often. I always thought I played like my best ever, in the hours leading up to it breaking, then you would get a fresh set and it would be uncomfortable and hard to use haha
    I bet you're slipping and sliding because those pumpkin spices are gone by now, same happened to me bahah, they don't last too long, and you move alot more than I do
    I know you like soft poly's - ISO Speed Cream is great, i been having wrist and tennis elbow issues recently, and even forced me to use a hybrid with a multi, which i never do, and Cream was softer than the multi
    P.S Good to see you getting some good views and support just within first 24 hours! keep it up brother, you deserve it

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 года назад

      Played again with it tonight and just had trouble getting the power I wanted, it is just so low powered! But could see for higher level strokes you can let it rip.
      I'm looking at some new shoes cause these are so dead. But you know I like to be adding some drama to the videos lol. But it's cold winter here so everyone is sorta sluggish at this time of year I guess just using Australian Open to pull us through everyday til spring.
      Sorry to hear about the elbow and wrist mate, I too had issues years ago and that's when I got so into soft strings and low tension. So definitely go as comfy as possible during this time - I know it's hard to resist but it's worth it to set you up for the future.

    I’m using the Yonex PolyTour Spin in blue and loving it but it’s also the first time using this in a new racquet, the Yonex Ezone 98 Tour, so it’s hard to compare. Can you test this string? I’d like to know how it compares with the Spin G and the Volkl Cyclone.

  • @gavlatennis2824

    Good review again. I tried this string previously and just couldn't get on with it. Just too low powered and muted. I was swinging for the hills and just couldn't hit through my opponent with this string. Like someone said below, Yonex Poly Tour Drive is a better option if you want a lower powered / more controlled orientated string. I still prefer Poly Tour Pro out of the Yonex strings though - decent spin, good power, nice feel and good playability. You should also try Ytex Square-X (white is slighty crisper, black is slightly softer).

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 года назад

      I experienced the same thing, just could not get as heavy a ball that I'm used to. I probably should have communicated that more in the review but is more of an afterthought now when looking back at it and switching to the next string. At the same time the review isn't just for me but it's for all the different types of players and some people have way different strokes and might be able to crush with this string. Anyway appreciate the feedback and I'm looking at PTP in 115 to see if it's even better than the 120 (17g)

      Vacation Tennis maybe give it a baseline of 6 sessions and go from there. Gives you a week with each string. Maybe string two rackets side by side so you can cut your time in half. Plenty of budget string to choice from. Also maybe do one full bed and one as a hybrid set up and you can two type of series to work on for us to enjoy.

    Hi... your using a yonex ai98 right? Ive used the dr87 before and hoping to get my hands on an ai98? How is this frames? Im particularly interested in its control and comfort? Does it bend in the throat like the dr98?

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 года назад

      dj Blackwing yes ai98 here, From what ive heard it’s more bendy in the throat than DR. Not everyone likes this feel because the control takes more getting used to but I’ve come to love it because of the comfort. I hit a lot of mishits and crazy swings so I like the flexy feel. You can find them on eBay for 60-70 barely used so it’s worth a try!

  • @soznyw571
    @soznyw571 4 года назад

    Despite some mishits and short balls, it looks like that this string seems to have a lower launch angle compared to the other strings you've tested so far on this channel. Previously I feel like you have a Nadal-like net clearance with your whippy forehand but in this video your shots don't look very high (not necessarily a bad thing, of course).
    Oh and personally speaking, contrary to your experience, I generally prefer stiffer poly strings just to get a little bit more response/feedback/crispness out of the already plush Ai/DR 98. I tried Wilson Sensation on my DR 98, and I hated it because it felt way too muted for my liking, despite knowing such setup is better for the arms in the long run, I guess. Soft co-poly like Tour Bite soft strung @50 lbs is the way to go for me lol.
    Oh another recommendations for the next episode of The String Bar: Luxilon Element and/or the newly released Babolat RPM Power. Great video as usual!

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 года назад

      SoznyW definitely I guess I didn’t cover the launch angle but maybe self explanatory, it wasn’t really an issue because the relatively low power.
      Tb soft is my go to as well, but that’s a good point most people I play with who use poly use a dead kind of poly. I guess the experience of the video was that I usually rely on a high power string to do the work for me, and once I started trying to swing it exposed a ton of stuff I need to work on, totally unexpected. Thanks for watching and the great comment, always wanted to try element!

      @ACTennis 4 года назад

      I used both strings, they are both pretty dead strings, poly tour spin at 50-52lbs was one of the most low powered strings i've ever used, but might be due to tension - since super shaped strings usually tend to be on the softer and more powerful side - but supposed to have a very high spin profile (obviously) , probably at 45lbs it would be pretty good
