Just wanted to say "Thank You" for this great video! I've been looking to automate my blinds for a while and wasn't interested in the solutions that used the draw string motors. I orders a couple of these and they're working perfect. I'm going to get some pico remotes to address the lack of manual control. Now I have my blinds gradually open in the morning to provide sunlight into the bedroom for a gentle wakeup alarm .... Hopefully the price will go down in the future so that I can add many more!
John you mentioned something about remove with Caseta, how would I tie in a device remote to the device now in Vera. What is the best way to have this feature in case , say my family doesn't have the app on the phone and they want open or close the blinds? I do have Alexa so the voice command does work. but a remote would be handy
Great video. Definitely tuned in to your channel to better educate myself and see whats out there. Do you know if this works with Qolsys iq panel 2 as that is a Zwave system working with alarm.com? Thanks
Nice video, dam I really wish they had a version that connected to the tilt stick mechanism like the Soma Tilt. Their bluetooth usage kills it for me. Have you checked out the Ikea square dimmer switches. Smartthings added native support now and they are super cheap.
how bout blinds with tilt pull string adjustments? Will they still work for manual control? Or basically you lose the ability to manually control the tilt when these are installed and only way is to use app/assistant or get a remote?
I have been using my iblinds for a quite while already. I have several working fine until ST decided to change from Classic App to the new app. I had a Hubitat Elevation waiting for me to have time to install it, so this was the call. I installed it and moved all my iblinds to HE. I also installed the Alexa Skill and now I having an issue. When I ask Alexa to open my blinds, it go all the opposite from open and doesn't stay at 55% as I set it up. Any suggestion?
@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 after few tries on joining i finally got it too pick up the device and its working now with Veralite, not sure if by changing the Windowcover1.json change did it and the .Xml but it did finaly pick up the device as a blind.
These iBlinds are constantly losing their connection from the Hub. There are times the Hub will still see them an they won’t respond or the hub won’t see them at all, and the iBlinds are fully powered. And yes, I have range extenders. I’ve gone through the steps to reset them, and they will reconnect and work again. But after several weeks, they will lose their connection again. It’s a pain when you’re no home because they’re not shut that whole day until you get home plus there’s no way to close them unless you reset them again. The only thing customer service will do for you is have you reset them over and over again... so no real help or solution.
DIY Smart Home Guy I’m currently using Smart Things Hub. I’m also using Aeotec quad controllers with them. I’m not sure why they all at some point drop from the Hub. I’m considering switching the hub to Hubitat. However, I can’t help but to feel that it’s not the hub but that it’s the iBlinds. I’ve even opened up the housing on the iBlinds and extended their antennas through the small hole on top. As of right now, everything is working. It’s been about 3 days since I’ve rest them, again.
DIY Smart Home Guy Thanks for the reply. I left some things out of that reply. I mentioned the Aeotec quads because I use them to control the iblinds when I don’t have the app/phone with me. I’ve been using Aeotec range extenders for Zwave extending. The gaps between the iBlinds and hub are pretty small with the range extenders. I’m still using Wink for everything else, so it’s not as if the Smart Things is overwhelmed. As far as Wink goes, it’s too overwhelming to switch to a new hub, so I’ll pay the new fee to keep it going for now. And thank you for your videos. With them you’ve helped me rewire and automate most of my home.

Unfortunately no new Australia/New Zealand frequency stock available until at least August 2020 now. Not even for my 2 warranty replacements.

Thanks John. Just FYI something's up with the sound... some kinda high pitch buzz/interference sounding thing.

Wonder if these are compatible with Aoetec z-stick gen 5 and could be configured in home assistant?

Pretty cool! What happens if the blinds are up? Does it burn the motor trying to tilt?
Any options for blinds with tilt rods?
John, to join with Vera Lite is there a default device driver or must i select the generic zwave device and add it , I cant see to get it to add.

Isn't this the old MySmartBlinds product, renamed?
@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 You are correct. MySmartblinds is now Tilt by Smarter Homes.
Nice review John. I'd have to get a free one to install these in my smart home. They are still way to pricey for me.
