Was thinking a couple of days ago that I have not seen a video from you for seems like ages and here it is. ❤
Got the right plane in. Had to do it.
Head full of detailed information and able to recall it without any visible notes, awesome.
Yup. He just has it all in his head. - Don the Camera Guy.
Man, I love these videos. Maybe someday I’ll be at an airport, and I’ll be able to say to a pilot, “Wow, that’s a NICE ‘67 Mooney you’ve got there. Fuel injected?”
Yes, Stretched E makes an F. 200 HP is right.
Love that dark green, gold and white color scheme.
I was lucky. It came like that.
Nice to see a Boing pilot flying a Moonie the right way , yes I noticed some subtle differences.
Great to see you back Mark, hope all’s well mate.
Sorry. Got VERY busy, still am, but have to do these vids when the planes turn up.
And the phone makes a return to the videos!
Damn. Sorry. Totally unplanned.
I love it, it wouldn't be a skywagon's video without it!!! That and all the "TOOB" talk
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Now I do beleave we talked about this sort of thing going on ... ha ha ha.
Nice full stall landing Mark. The wife and I are planning to come stay a couple of nights in your Air B&B. That is IF I ever get my plane from the avionics shop.
Sounds great!
Now I know why this is a “University” … wonderful detail. Down to the toobs and levvers
Tchoobs is correct. Ha ha
Thanks, Mark. That was a lot of information. Mooneys are intriguing aircraft for sure.
Maybe too much info all in one go. ?
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Oh no. I believe I speak for most of your viewers when I say the flood of information, on all the profiled aircraft, is well worth our time.
Keep it up!
@@skywagonuniversity5023in my humble opinion it is never enough! The vast majority of airplane videos just seem to skim the Wikipedia page before presenting. You, on the other hand, provide a depth of knowledge that only comes from years of experience. You definitely convinced me that my dream plane is an M20F!
You would do well on GA Jeopardy!
Nice looking Mooney, bugs and all !
Suicidal bugs around here.
Always a pleasure your videos - my friends think I'm knowledgeable on GA and military types - but compared to you, I'm still in kindergarten - every day is a school day 😊💜👍
I got lucky with all the planes I see. Thanks.
The Mooney's are so cool, engineering marvels!
That is what I think too, Plus there is a model for everyone. Small economical ones and huge gas sucking ones. Depending on what you need.
They are a pain to work on, they fly like shit and the yellow arc starts way too low too. The only good thing about them is they go pretty well for the gas used and if you crash they are fairly safe.
Been too long Mark -- glad to see a new video!!
More to come!
I got to see 04Q in person today (oh and meet Mark also). Mark, that beauty really looks magnificent in the sun! I don't think I've really seen a paint job like that before. Pictures don't do it justice.
At Riedhill View in San Jose. Thanks for the hand pushing the plane back.
I listen to you for the "English" accent so say "leeever".
I have to translate for my people.
I flew an M20F for several years. It was a group-owned plane we bought new in 1968 for $20,000, complete with one Narco Nav-Com radio. It replaced an M20C (same cabin size as the M20E). The longer cabin provided sorely-needed leg room for the rear seat passengers.
Very true.
Nice video. It would have been nice to see the manual gear operation from inside.
We did have it but with total mike failure there was no explanation.
Fantastic breakdown.
Thanks.
Missed your videos, Mark. Glad to see you. Are you coming to Osh?
Not sure yet
Thanks
Welcome
Like many manual flap handles, the Mooney landing gear handle is also often called a "Johnson Bar".
That is correct.
Now do one comparing 60s C,E,F to 70s C,E,F please!
Six planes from two decades. It will be hard to pull off, but if we get them all at once, we'll do it.
How good is Aviation! Thank you!
Aviation is the best.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Damn straight!
Hi Mark. Great video. Ever use runway 5?
Prevailing wind is normally so we use 23, but occasionally 5 yes, especially when the sun is setting right down the middle of 23 at certain times of the year.
Ahahahahaha, the phone returns! Love the videos Mark. Keep It up, you have the some of the best videos on GA aircraft! Reminds me of the days I’d read Jane’s Aircraft at the local library.
With hindsight do you see that Jane's was not very accurate.
It wasn't very accurate!
I guess it's perspective: from the bugs point of view it might be the Mooney which throws itself on it 😊
True.
Did I miss the part where you mentioned that the Fs have a 165lb gross weight increase over the short bodies? They are some of the best load haulers in the Mooney fleet. Typically lighter than a J with the same MGW. Many have ULs in the 1050lb range.
I missed that. Good point.
👍
Mr. Don, I really liked the underbelly shot. That is an interesting view.
I only wish Mr. Mark would have explained how the gear "leeever" is made from a "toooob".... It must have been in the lost audio....
It's a Tchyoob really Not a Toobe.
I love my F model, that 10" makes a huge difference (that's what she said)
Erm 9.5 inches. Half an inch is important.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 that's why I round up when I tell everyone so I can feel better
My only critique of this particular ’F’ is that the oil door Dzus fasteners are not streamlined with the airflow. That would drive me (further) nuts. I would HAVE to re-rivet the receptacles rotated 90°. That’s just me. Yes, it’s an illness. 😊 I flew a friend’s B model from Hemet, CA to Salt Lake one night w/ no gyros. VFR, but not fun.
It must drive you crazy to have to make a machine that nice.
I noticed that, having had an airplane with a bad oil door that came open in flight several times I’m now very particular to that item.
Mark, does the fuselage stretch come with a longer wheelbase (distance from nose gear to mains), or does that stay the same? If longer, does that help to reduce porpoising when bouncing a bad landing on those donuts? Thanks!
That distance stays about the same on all the short and medium Mooneys. A to K.
Does the M20E wag any with shorter length as compared to a M20F? Also, amazing vidoes. Keep the ringer on 🤣.
They do wag a tiny bit in turbulence, but NOTHING like a bonanza.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Thank you for the response.
I’ve been really wanting to buy a piper cub but I got my CFI yesterday and I’m worried I’ll never have time to fly. I’m told you’ll spend 12 days at the flight school but only fly for 3 hours.
😂
If the upgraded exhaust brings the M20F's power up to 230, does that mean it now requires a high performance endorsement to fly? If yes that's a slight disadvantage over the standard exhaust for sure. Must increase fuel burn too.
No, it's still 200 HP on paper. No engine is exactly the number it is supposed to be in HP..
True, true. Good to know.
15:00 I hope that is not the start of another California Forest Fire!!!
It would be if it was July and not April.
that's how early gear retraction looks like. What was it, 1 meter ab0ve the ground?
Manual gear is very fast.
Points out deficits of Super Viking which are overvalued. Mooney 👈😺👍
Vikings are good in their own right. Big engine, big gas and made of wood etc.
@@skywagonuniversity5023 Yes sir. I'm no aficionado of acrylics and wood but who really knows. Bearhawk is interesting too.
Come on, dude. Don't do that
G is the worst mooney made. I have one and it only goes 130 knots.
It can't be that bad?
Mark!! I just bought a 1964 M20E, and I'm in love. One day I'd like to fly it out, maybe we can do a side-by-side of our E's!! N1258X if you want to look me up.
Aren't they great?
