    i'll have to bring it up. on the og loc mission you are able to kill the target earlier than the finish line if you position your self correctly and shoot him, there is actualy a speedrun strat to shoot him in the begining of the chase and be done with it. also in the limo mision you are absolutely able to damage the limo, although it does have a lot of hp but there is a speedrun strat to just blow it up with rockets lol

    • @TwinSticksReviews
      @TwinSticksReviews  2 года назад +12

      That's annoying about the limo as I replayed that mission 3 times and every time the limo blew up at the end. I guess if Rockstar made the limo have a lot more health than regular cars it gave the impression that I wasn't doing damage. There was literally no smoke or anything until right at the end when it instantly blew up. Very strange.

    3:53 Couldn't be more right. A friend and I recently replayed the original San Andreas side by side, playing it during the evenings after work - Felt just like the good old times. Replaying the 2004 game in 2022 felt like a homage to the game that was a highlight in many of our childhoods.

    The focus on the missions taking you away from the main plot is actually meaningful.
    As Sweet described during Homecoming, Carl forgot about the Hood again, and if you reflect on the other missions like the heist and Toreno, this reflects this message. Since losing all that he rebuilt a SECOND time to put GSF on the map, and since destroying the crack factory that was supplying the drugs to his hood, CJ fully gave up on LS, and it was Toreno that brought him to Venturas. Where CJ openly accepted as a means of something to fill the hole that the now-lost dreams of Los Santos left after the drugs and Big Smoke betrayed him. This was influenced by Kendl who told CJ to forget about the hood now due to what happened and focus on making good for himself.

      Thank you man, I'm glad you enjoyed it as that is exactly what I'm going for. An in-depth fair review, that has a bit of humour thrown in. Classic GTA is the best. We need full remakes of the 3D trilogy. Imagine a proper SA remake...incredible.

    This game is so amazing that the first time I was playing GTA V, I basically expected SA 2.0.
    How wrong and disappointed I felt. I ran straight back to San Andreas. I have so many things to say about this game and so many memories it will take hours to write down. I am still playing it today.

    • @ThAmCh

      I got rid of GTA IV which is waay better than GTA V, but I did it because of San Andreas. Lately I watched a youtuber going in LA interviewing gang members and I remembered San Andreas, and what really made me get rid of GTA IV is the fact that there is no cheat code for never wanted level. The story, gameplay and the missions are great, but once you finish the last mission, there is nothing fun to do, because if you start killing people or running into people with your car, immediately get chased by police. You can't be a taxi driver also, can't swim inderwater (to explore), can't fly planes... the atmosphere is the same wherever you go on the map. Doesn't have much color - mainly blue-ish and grey-ish tone... and really nothing interesting to do once you finish the game. Racing missions (the optional ones)- never did them because of the realism of the driving. It's cool though, for the game, but for racing missions - the roads are too narrow for that much realism in driving. Playing bowling is stupid, or hanging out with friends...
      And San Andreas is based on a true story. The only GTA that is based on a true story. The gang violence/wars in LA. Really great plot. That makes you want to play the game over and over again. Like I said - thanks to a couple of videos that I watched about the gang life in LA, I figured I should play San Andreas again.

    As a forty year old man who just picked up the remastered trilogy this game is still great. Sure the cut seen animations are not as good as vice city, but when you're out in the world playing it's a nice upgrade to see San Andres looking a lot better. I would compare it's look to something along the line of mafia 3, but a lot better story. San Andres only fault is that Rock Star didn't put enough effort into the cut seen animations. In my opinion it's still the best GTA game in the franchise.

  • @cheldium6895
    @cheldium6895 2 года назад +14

    I think GTA III and Vice City were harder due to bad game design. Like that one mission you do for Umberto in Vice City where you are taken on a boat to destroy 2 other boats doing a meeting. The annoying part was that you were exactly infront of the boats, before you could even shoot a boat down, your body armor and health would've snapped out of existence. And after I found an RPG and destroyed the boats and got the briefcases, a jetty with 2 haitians come and destroy your getaway boat, and then spawn right infront of you and gun you down faster than light speed. It was a terrible mission.

    • @TwinSticksReviews
      @TwinSticksReviews  2 года назад +5

      That mission was too much in VC. Your chance of success was literally random depending on how much damage the enemies on the boat do at the start. Took me a few attempts that one.

    I thought SA was alright, but then again I’ve never been a big fan of the GTA games in general.
    One complaint I do have though (aside from the horrible plane controls on PC), is that you don’t see big smoke after his betrayal until the final mission. It would of been great to see him in a few missions, reacting to how CJ is toppling his drug empire, but thats just me.

    I have to throw something from me. I played SA for the first time in 2005 on ps2 and it blown my mind away - but i was a little kid from poland, barely understanding english, and i was really crappy at games. To add to that my disc got scratched a 2 weeks later and there was no way i could afford another one.
    In next few years i've fallen in love with Vice City and i replayed it so many times i finally got bored with the formula.
    Many years later when i picked up SA again i was taken back by it's arcadeyness and put it away.
    Years have passed and last year i decided to give it another chance, but this time i've realized that i've always tried to shape SA to my liking instead of getting immersed in it's mechanics.
    This time i just fell in love with it, and to my surprise during whole game i died maybe 10 times in total and repeated missions maybe another 10 times in total (for me vast majority of them were new because before even with cheats i never got past los santos).
    The key was to immerse myself into life of Carl, to balance missions, with exploration, eating, leveling up and so on. And i started to understand that the core gameplay is actually amazing! And the story and characters are legendary.
    I like it so much that i have to say i think it's overall equal/very near in quality to my beloved GTA V (story not crap online). Very easy 10/10.
    One more thing - i beat it on ps2 and i have to encourage everyone to use pc version but mod The Improved Classics from steam guide page. It brings the best elements of every port of the game (like better effects of ps2), ads full controller support with prompts, and eliminates loads of bugs, while keeping the game vanila as much as possible.
    To finish it - i think GTA San Andreas is still largely better than GTA "clones" from moder period. Mafia games have much smaller scope and way less mechanics, watchdogs mechanics never click together as well creating this coherent world, saints row is just more primitive and so on. Even though SA is a primitive game in terms of technical capabilities, it's much more ambitious and better put together title than most games in that niche.

That's one thing I felt missed in GTA V, franklins hood life seemed so short, before we knew it he was playing just like Michael. The game still holds up. I played it pretty regularly off and on for nearly 20 years whether it was the OG, 10th anniversary addition or the let down "remaster" and I still find new things in the game now. Rockstar went in deep with this one and it's honestly one of the greatest games we've ever gotten.

    I think driving mechanics in gta are sooo underrated - it's a core of a game with cars, and even gta 3 had pretty good ones, and vice city alongside san andreas had great ones (even if different from one another), and same goes for every game since. The only open world gta style game where driving mechanics are really decent are mafia 2/3/and remake of the 1st one, because games like watchdogs or saints row (as great as they can be) have much worse driving than old gta games.
    And when it comes to bikes, helicopters, planes and boats there is no comparison even.

    Speaking of the Liberty city mission. When I was younger I would always try to literally fly there myself outside of missions lol I'd look up on the internet too see if there was any way to actually fly there in game. My mind was blown and ever since then Ive always wanted an open world game with multiple cities where you can fly inbetween them. Maybe even have some Islands thrown in there too. Thats the next step in open world designs

    This game was an absolute nightmare to 100% the amount of times I’d have to restart something all over again, due to things out of my control. The janky mechanics didn’t help much either

    How is the movement on foot with this game? I hate the movement of the previous of 3 and VC games, but I haven’t played San Andreas.

    • @chrisdelgado4621
      @chrisdelgado4621 3 месяца назад

      It feels significantly better than those two. The basic control is a lot snappier and sprinting down stairs doesn’t send CJ flying off.

      @@chrisdelgado4621 thank you. I never see people mention this stuff, which should be important because you know, it’s how you will be playing the game. I played VC, and it has some of the worst movement controls I’ve played in a 3D game, so when I watch these reviews, I don’t even know if the game is even fun to play because they never mention it.

    11:41 That's actually not true. In that OG Loc mission as well as that limo mission you showed before, I was able to eliminate those targets at a much shorter time without having to reach at a certain point. I know it can be difficult to do, but it is possible.

      Thank you mate. I appreciate you watching the whole thing. SA does try to do too much and it could have been scaled back to focus on the great content, but you can't argue that it's an incredible open world with some oustanding missions. Which is your favourite GTA if you don't mind me asking?
