    Here's the key points:
    - Make sure your vehicle is in good running condition (air filtre, plugs, check engine light, etc).
    - Modifications in steps, eg : New injector, tune, CAI, tune, and so on.
    - Save a file after every change and take notes detailing what you did. Be organized.
    - Make an initial tune that is safe.
    --- Adjust your fuel map. You don’t want to run lean, make everything a richer/fatter.
    --- Adjust your ignition map : pull back some timing (eg: -4 degrees) of the whole map.
    --- Keep an eye on your fuel trims, beware of lean spots.
    - Tune fuel maps based on MAF first, it’ll allow you to drive the vehicle from point A to B.
    - Next is speed density.
    - Followed by idle map.
    - Time for timing adjustment, watch for knock.
    - Torque demand tables, keep an eye on your fuel trims after adjustment.
    - Torque management (not sure what it is).
    - Transmission tuning for automatic.
    - Disable some engine checks.
    - Everything else, eg :starting the fans earlier.

      if you ever worked on carbs and distributor you have a better understanding of how to setup efi than most tuners

    Just found you, looking for tuning skills because nobody near me tunes Audi V8 Quattro Engines, especially when they discover I have packed mine into a mid engine Porsche Boxster.
    I hope your talents can help me learn. Dealing with three stage intake manifold, four variable cams and 40 valves. I have no choice but to learn how to tune. Thanks so far, great stuff.

    Another great video as usual man! This channel by far has been the most comprehensive series on HPtuners on youtube.
    I was wondering if you could do a video on Transient fueling, specifically on gen3. I think i have a decent grasp on how it works, but id like to hear your thoughts on the subject as infomation on it is rather sparse at the moment.

    Hey there Goat rope ! I just want to thank you for all the information!! Ive only been watching your videos for a few weeks and ive been able to improve my skills to the point to where im better than the previous tuner which didnt data log. I still have a long way to go but youve taught me enough to be able to get the data i need to change what needs to be changed and nothing more or out of control, less is more. All your information is valuable! I will be getting a wide band asap !! DONT TURN OFF POWER ENRICHMENT ! EVER. Also , WHY use a dyno when you get real world data!

    I just added so many of your tuning videos in my watch later to start trying to learn as much as i can! I plan on starting to tune my 2011 Sierra Denali with the AWD. Goal is to do step by step slowly until the truck is boosted with an lsa in the future! Thanks for the videos!!

      @@billydamnit i am able to understand the logs and can adjust fueling based on logs and timing, but that’s about it. I only do it and very very little adjustments to a tune I already have from a professional. I haven’t been able to work from scratch on a vehicle. I have my truck I want to try it out with just haven’t had the time to do it

    I have a high interest in tuning GM vehicles mostly LS engines. Looking at the HP tuners MPVI2. Is there any tables I can download to under stand fuel/air/spark? Thanks

    quick dumb question. I've read so much already. Do you ever have to drill the idle hole on the tb blade? I'm running the 106lsa cup cam and I seem to be having trouble with air at idle. thank you

    I was wondering if you could tell me: I have a 2015 2SS camaro Manual i bought as a theft recovery and the engine, tranny, ECU and fuse box were stolen. BCM and everything else is all intact. I bought a 2010 2SS camaro that was totaled, but has a built 6.2 With a manual transmission. If I shut the VATS system off with my HP tuner in the 2010 before i pull the engine & tranny and install it in the 2015, will it start with leaving the BCM and everything still in the 2015 alone? Thank you very much!

    1999 Chevy Tahoe L31 5.7L Vortec. I'm installing a jegs factory crate motor and found a melling cam pn 22221. It's within the capacity of the factory heads. Most lift is .450 on exhaust. Current exhaust original is .428 just to give an example. Any recommendations on the direction I should take if my check engine light comes on due to the cam swap? What tuner would you recommend?

    Is there a place or a library to get base tunes, I made many modifications to an 06 Monte Carlo SS 5.3L, sent it to the ..... UM.... high priced speed shop... and did not get the as found file. after down loading the tune, a lot of the table look hoki. they provided a dyno run sheet with 480 to the ground, but it has drivability issues. Awesome series. thank you.

    Your videos have helped so much! I do have a question. So i run a 05 6.0/4l80e setup in my 86 camaro and besides playing around with it around town i also use it drifting sometimes at events and my question is i need a track tune to lock it into 1st or 2nd gear and be able to make sure it doesnt shift vs tps or rpm when i put it in 1st gear or put it in 2nd gear. Ive been doing research and have seen many mixed criteria and would like to know your input.

    Sounds like you are mostly into Chevy, I have 2005 Dodge Ram 5.7 hemi curious will the Diablo i3 platinum be my go tuner? Do I need a laptop? Just got through installing CompCam couldn’t find any one in my area that tunes….

    So gen iv here and im back to being afraid of tuning here lol. Currently doing the gpi max full top end kit and they will remote tune it with hp tuners and data logs so im covered there. But i need to learn for when i bolt my blower on so i can tune myself along with e85. How bad is this going to be for me to tackle myself and not hurt anything?

    This your channel I just found yesterday, is awesome! Thanks man, you already saved me a bunch of money! In this video, right at the beginning you say make sure your vehicle is running right. Question, can HP Tuners be used to diagnose problems, ie. check engine light is on, will I be able to diagnose why? Thanks in advance for any reply you give

    What is the first thing that needs tuned on a 06 GTO with a 6.0? I heard they run rich stock?

      Dial that fuel in, everything runs a little rich stock so you can get some gains on the MAF and SD tune.

    Is it possible to tune a car where you can flip a switch and the car goes to "race mode"? It'd theoretically open up valves for charged air and all the fuel/spark info the engine needs for high performance. My problem is with the transmission. Would I need to power off a stock ecu and power up an aftermarket ecu along with opening all the valves to charge the air?

      Not on a factory ECU. Can be done on a lot of standalones

      Better known as the skip shift, there should be a section under transmission for it that you can disable it by adding the speed that enables it.

      It's all the same, at the end of the day you're tuning airflow calcs, doesn't matter the mods, I use the same process for a stock tune and a crazy boosted horsepower monster

    so you do not change anything on the PE eq ratio table? Include what you have done, if in pe and target .7 lambda wont the ecu target .7 lambda when you go wot and into pe? i dont understand...is it because the maf and ve has been calibrated the pe table will just target the desired afr? even though it was at the factory to be very rich>? i can see the Forrest but i missed the trees for the leaves or somethin...

      asking because i put catback Longtubes no kittys and a cold air intake on (2011ss l99). I know I should cal the maf but after buy the credits and all that jazz i didnt have much time i made a quick calculation and went over to pe eq gas and grabbed the cells over 2800 and punched in what targets 12.8 and turned off the 5011 sensor 2 codes COT overtemp and flashed it. Now that I almost have my wideband configured should i put the pe back to what it was "as found" that day>??? then start with the maf tune. Look I know its not a hci combo with turbo but i would like to dial it in i know the volume changes after adding that exhaust and long tubes sans kittys. my timing table look weak too...

    Can anyone tell me What would cause positive 30 at idle and negative 20 while driving short term fuel trim ? Truck stock tune everything stock . Truck runs fine and not throwing no to lean or too rich code. It's 2001 chevy silverado

      Didn't find any readings that were pulling timing? I doubt it is a PCM failure.

      Not a bad idea, but it's easy enough to go back to stock even if you don't have an original as found

    Another great video. I just rebuilt my gen 3 engine and it won’t start. Have you thought about making a video about a start up tune? I’ve changed cam, injectors and volume similar to what you described

      You'll need to estimate the percentage of air increase and then probably dial it back due to the injector up sizing even with the injector data. Start on the lean side to try and get it running, dial in your idle then work out from there

      Thanks for the reply. I adjusted the cylinder volume which moved my VE table. I took stock ls1 injectors data and scaled them up to mine but still nothing. Is 4 lb/hr increments too much? At the rated 36 it backfire and at 40 it doesn’t do anything

    How hard is it to learn how to tune did a ls swap in a 94 gmc the tune sucks don't idle good runs rich wanting to buy a hp tuner but don't want to waste money

      Cheaper than paying for someone else to do it and you'll have more control and can tune for new mods. Just takes time and patience.

    Add mod, tune. Add another mod, tune. Add another mod, tune. That's the most expensive process I've ever heard... Definitely not building on a budget considering a tune costs around $500.
