At first I was sad I cried but it is the most peaceful way for the girls to end there journey, together in there sleep safe in each other arms no pain no suffering they just went to sleep together and didn't wake up. Hope they find each other and happiness in the afterlife.
Well, the way these two went was with such grace & dignity that the rest of us ought to be proud & honored (humbled, even) that this was Humanity's final representation. I'm not sure we deserve it, but that's Chito & Yuu's gift to us all.
How could anyone NOT love them for that? ;)
@@johnwolf2829 There is a biblical scripture Matthew 5:5 states the meek shall inherit the earth and that's exactly what happened all the end characters were humble and "meek" and humanity ended it's cycle in a peaceful and dignified way.
there a chapter where Chito and Yuuri are in a dinner called Restaurant Heaven and Yuuri straight up said" I'm glad I died" to Chito . Plus there a bonus chapter in GLT where the girls find some literature a foreboding poem of sorts about two crosses in the snow and soon we'll find our rest .
Everyone wants them to be dead and I get it because it's a sweet ending but the area where they were is melted and their bodies aren't there with no foot prints leading away in the last scenes. Something else happened, probably teleportation which would explain the lack of human skeletons anywhere (which you would expect from the starvation of thousands or even just hundreds of people).

When i searched "Girls Last Tour Ending" i meant the song, forgot to add the "Theme" at the end, Now im just crying.
This series broke me. The ending left me depressed and crying for literal weeks on end, but that just goes to show how perfect and powerful the ending was. This series was beautiful in every aspect and I’m glad I was able to read it
I just finished the series. I don’t know how I feel. The stair seen make me anxious and nervous for what was gonna happen, they’ve lost everything and was the top going to be their salvation…it wasn’t. To me at least. When they talk about they’re life and how they’re afraid to die and their memories it’s showed me that they’ve been holding these feelings in them so they can keep moving. But now what? They’ve reached the top and it’s just them, no one else. And I think that’s a good thing. It showed them even though they’ve always been together, even in the end they’re together. And that’s what I think the conclusion scene is. It shows that they will figure it out together.
For everyone who ponders about Chito & Yuu living or dying ... they died. Period. Just like their world was already dead around them. Even Ishii and Kanazawa are most likely gone by this point since the lower levels have nothing left. If Chito and Yuu were the literal and symbolic last gasps of humankind on Earth, I'm satisfied with that. Hopefully when humankind's GLT arrives IRL, and it will because everything has an end and even the journey to the upper-most level ended with no way to go back, there will be a Chito & Yuu there to usher us out. Maybe even turn out the last light. And unlike most no hope post-apocalyptical works where "the doesn't go out with a bang but instead with a whimper" ... GLT's world went out with a peaceful calm.

As sad as this may be, it makes me wonder if there were people during the history of human kind, whom experienced something to this effect... Being left almost alone, having all efforts spent, only to find salvation in nothing.

I think there were, probably in Post WW1 and 2
I started sobbing at the snowball fight. There's nothing, absolutely nothing on this top-most layer, no food, no life, just silence. They're the last two whispers of what humanity once was, and what do they do? Try to make the best out of it. They don't cry, they don't sulk about the absence of substance, they have fun, just like they used to even before the war, because they're just two kids, after all. What really got me is that a few chapters ago, during a flashback, the girls were having a snowball fight too. One of the earliest times we've seen them, chronologically, they were having fun; and now at the last stop, they decide to go out that way too, with each other's company, this fleeting joy. This is their last hurrah, and after that they have their last meal, their last drink, and then they go to sleep, infinitely, in each other's embrace. It's the most peaceful end for them.
ending was expected but despite that it still got me to cry, I wasn't expecting the snowball fight and the dialogue, masterpiece of a series
I just finished Watching and reading this... And Starting from the part where kettenkrad doesn't work anymore until the last chapter, I felt so emotional and cried like a baby. I felt so empty right now. But somehow I understand their situation and accepted it. There are so many life lessons here that makes me realize and even change myself. It's a bittersweet ending but I'm also happy because they are together up until the end.
Yep, that's how I felt tbh. Still feel empty, but this manga changed my life for the better that I'm so thankful for it.
That moment when Chi realized there's nothing they can do the fix the kettenkrad, i felt the squeeze in my heart and that's the saddest cry had for a media. I literally had a headache cryin.

Just finished the anime and instantly went to here, and idk what to feel
I occasionally watch this video again and again. But despite however times I watch it, I leggit start to cry by the time they're enjoying their last ration. This time too, I was preparing myself, do not cry... Do not cry... And by the end I'm sniffing and wiping my tears.
My update after 6 months (yes, I'm here to cry silently and to experience an inexplicable tranquility thereafter). I have saved the song Owari no uta / the song of the end in my phone and whenever I hear it I have a habit of immersing myself into it and after completing it, come back to this video and to cry ❤️ this video is a part of my existence now, along with zankou na tenshi no thesis / neon Genesis evangelion opening song 😂
Edit : don't worry, I'm not suffering from depression or something, it's just, they comfort me a lot

Girls Last Tour, Made in Abyss, Berserk, Vagabond, Komi Can't Communicate, Sound: Euphonium, all literal art. Actually some of the greatest manga ever made, dare I say some of the best works of fiction. Also, great job using the animes' ost. Really helped tie everything together into one happy, sad, wholesome, depressing, relaxing, hopeless experience for both us and Chito and Yuuri.
I would suggest also adding Shiki to this list. I could list many more though, but this one stands out.

song name is "Owari no Uta" if I'm not mistaken. "Song of the End"
something that make me depressed about the tallest floor is that:
- it just a flat barren land
- the stair are a bit taller than the floor, which mean humanity still try to make higher city
- The stone with black symbol on it, it just a mesage that this is the end
- if any there any other survivor and they reach the tallest floor. Hoping to find something, only to be realize there was only a stone and 2 skull of someone.
I just got reccomended this video after 2 years of having read this manga, god I need to reread it, I'm crying

IMO, The most beautiful final episode in manga history.
It's been said before, but the symbolism of a staircase to the top leading to nothing is so smart. All the pillars and accomplishments that humans have built in the end amount to nothing. We live short, fragile lives, and most live them in anger or fear. But some, like the girls, even in their darkest hours, choose to lead happy lives despite knowing of their inevitable demise.
Our lights will go out one day. We will all die. But that doesn't mean we can't be happy with those we love.
I'm glad I bought the manga, this video is good but it just isn't the same compared to when you physically have the book with you

They finally reach the top 😢
I know that throughout the last chapters a lot of symbolism is shown showing signs that they were going to die but... THEY SURVIVED and some points that prove this are:
1. their grandfather who told them they got to the top because he knew about teleportation (he wouldn't tell them to go to the top just to die, I don't think).
2. in the place where they found the rockets, they see that one of the rockets left the solar system far away, which proves that some people survived and colonized another place.
3. at the moment when they are looking at the remaining resources, Chi asks Yuu if there are any bullets left to use as a detonator, I found it so strange that this dialogue seemed so random to me and then I realized that she wanted to use it to break the ice crust of the teleporter.
4. when they go to the teleporter and lie down to sleep, it is shown that they left footprints and a few frames later they are no longer there, the crust has already been broken and the equipment and their footprints are there and were not buried by the snow, which proves not much time has passed.
5. in the painting that shows them in the fields it is less detailed but they are wearing the same clothes as when they slept and they are not acting like they are dead, her face shows curiosity about that new place.
conclusion: in the manga, some strange technologies, languages and paintings are shown several times, probably the people who left the solar system found a way to send some things to earth, one of them being the teleporter.
