I’m surprised too at the type of how-to videos I’ve had to search up! Almost anything I need to know is here! I’m really glad my Honda key fob battery replacement video was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Excellent, instructive video. The key fob for our '09 CRV was different in a couple ways once I got the screw out and the outside shell off, but similar enough to your instruction that I got the job done within ten minutes. Thanks.
Thank you for posting this video. Surprisingly after 12 years both batteries in my keys died at the same time. The only problem I had was trying to get that teeny tiny screw out of there, once I accomplish that the rest was a piece of cake. Everything is working fine now!
You’re welcome! So glad you got your batteries replaced in your key fobs! Yea Lu those screws are tiny and a precision screwdriver is needed for that! Nice work! Thanks for watching!
A very clear explanation to how to replace the battery to the Honda key fob. Very nicely done. I think that you must have taken a good deal of time to edit your comments and explanation in order to create such an effective and simple video. Highly recommended.
Hey I’m really glad you enjoyed my key fob battery replacement video. It does take time to make a detailed video but it’s not too hard. I was familiar with the steps to replace the battery plus I’ve been producing videos for a long time.
My Honda key fob seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it works fine, while at other times it doesn't work at all. I'm taking that as an indication that the battery is getting weak needs replacing. Your video was very helpful, and makes the process look very easy, so I'm going to give it a try and, hopefully, I won't screw it up. Thanks.
Wow what a great video. Very helpful and instructive. You narrate well, and starting the music at just the right time to signal that you're almost home. Well done.
Excellent video the only issue I had was that I could not find the right battery did search in 3 major stores and did not realized you did include the website to purchase it in this video Thank you some much for your time and your dedication it really helps a lot.
Thank you so very much for this video. Professional grade narrations. Up-close view of what's going on. "Slide the cover to separate the shells" which I didn't see in other vids. This is the best how-to video on RUclips.
Excellent how to video especially when you have 10 thumbs and are not mechanically or mentally prepared to attempt such a feat on your own. Thank you very much.
*Cool, primarily the same instruction for my 2011 CRV, except my transmitter housing didn't have the tabs on either side, so no need to pry with fingernails, so that was easier, but my battery was locked into more tabs than the one you're showing, so a bit tougher to pry out, which also took some finesse to pop the new one back in place.* *I also noticed you had some sort of flexible gasket (**2:42**) that `you needed to not bind/pinch, as you closed your transmitter housing, which mine didn't have, so that was easier for me as well.* *Thank You for the video.* 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Getting ready to replace the battery on my daughers Honda, and I'm so glad I watched this. Replacing the battery on my 1994 Ford Explorer key is a little different than the Honda. Really glad I watched the video.
Yesterday, I took everything apart, without breaking anything !!! I have a lot of tools, so I even had a tiny screwdriver to get it open. I'm pretty sure that if I hadn't watched your video, I probably would have broken a part just taking off that first piece !!!! Just wish my adult daughter had some interest in learning how to fix things herself !!! She didn't even want to watch ME do it. !!! lol ps- I'm a 64yr old woman, and my daughter is 34yrs old !!! I remember when I was around 12yrs old, don't tell my Mom, but I took apart my transistor radio, so I could see how it works !!!!
I totally understand! I try to get my kids to watch me repair some of the stuff I work on in hopes that they would have some prior knowledge before they actually run into some of these problems on their own. And I love your story about taking apart your radio when you were young!
My daughter bought a 2007 and I went to change it for her but the screw is stripped. I actually thought it was an hex key. Pain now for something that should have been so simple. Great video!
Excellent! I'm really glad you found the video helpful! It's always easier to see how someone else does it first before trying it yourself! Thanks for watching!
The screw holding the key fob together would not budge. Even after using WD-40 and a jewelers phillips screw driver. I ended up having to drill it out to get it apart. I was able to replace the battery and just snap the pieces back together. Thanks.
Thanks for the Video, very useful. But i have a question, after changing the battery for a correct one, i have the mas fob, the led does not light up and also does not open or close the car. The fob stopped working out of the blue without any damage or knock. The spare key does not work (same issues) with a new battery as it has been idle for years. What do you thinks it could be? Many thanks
I don’t know why but my screw was definitely locktited down. Nothing I did could break screw. I even tried heat gun. Had to drill screw out. Solved. Dad saved the day. I was able to snap the key fob back together without the screw. I used a dab I flex seal clear silicon in screw hole but it was not needed to keep fob together.
When I changed the battery of the car my remote stops and now when I press the lock button the light gets on for 10 seconds and doesnt active the alarm
Wooooow!!! thanks bro ,I watched thise video before I changed. its help full for me I appreciate for that sir if I will Honda dealership it might cost more money I appreciate for helping us .thanks AB
Does anyone know how to make silent locking and unlocking your doors on this same model key fob? If anyone can let me know that would be great thanks! Tried everything and nothing works.
I got mine at Radio Shack but it was costly. About $4.75. You can order a bundle on Amazon like 4-6 of them for the price I paid for one at Radio Shack. I needed a battery that day because my Pilot was going into the shop so I paid the higher price. This should be a common battery but the did not have it at the Fred Meyer electronics department though.
I'm not sure but if your key fob still isn't working with the new battery then there might be something wrong with the remote itself. But check your battery to see if you have the positive and negative on the correct side when inserted. Are the battery contacts touching the battery? If you have a 2nd Honda key, can you switch batteries with that one to see if it works on this one?
Sorry you’re having issues with the screw on your key fob! They might’ve applied some Loctite on the screw to keep it secure. Are you using a micro screwdriver? Make sure it fits tightly so you don’t strip the head. Pushing down while turning slowly may help you get it out.
Sorry your screw is stripped! I found the following article that has some suggestions on what you can do. Maybe one of those ideas will work for you: www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/4870/How+can+I+remove+a+totally+stripped+small+camera+screw
Yeah I guess that would make sense that the battery lasts about 10 years. Although I bought this vehicle used (can't remember what year I bought it) it's possible that the original owner might have changed the battery but maybe not likely. These car remotes usually go quite awhile before needed a battery change. Thanks for watching and feedback!
I read this on this page www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-key-fob-battery If the battery completely dies, the fob chip will also lose power and become useless unless reprogrammed directly by the automotive manufacturer.
Whoa! I haven’t heard about that happening! Did the key eventually work again? Are all the parts back in the key fob correctly? Also check the polarity of the battery. If it’s reversed the key fob won’t work. Hope you get this resolved!
@@TheRenderQ Actually the key become totally useless, when I try to turn the car on a green key flash thorugh the screen which means that the car doesn-t recognize the key, the only solution is to take it to the dealership or locksmith (which of course wil charge about$150 to reprogram it again).😟
Oh really! My Pilot only locks and unlocks the doors and I guess it is simpler to know I only have two buttons to press when I'm not looking at the remote! Thanks for watching!
I swear RUclips has a vid for everything! Glad you took the time to do this, was a big help

I drilled it and used flex seal in the screw hole.

Dónde compro la bateria????
I ordered my battery for the Honda remote on Amazon. Look in the video description and I listed the battery I bought. Hope this helps!
I can't remove the screw!! It is too tight.
Sorry you’re having issues with the screw on your key fob! They might’ve applied some Loctite on the screw to keep it secure. Are you using a micro screwdriver? Make sure it fits tightly so you don’t strip the head. Pushing down while turning slowly may help you get it out.

This is the key fob of a 2006 Honda Pilot and I assumed that the life expectancy of that CR1616 is 10
Years since this video was made in 2016
Yeah I guess that would make sense that the battery lasts about 10 years. Good viceo and instruction, but I will just let Honda do the install for me. I know i might break a tab or plastic. Lol.
Thanks for watching! It's actually really easy to do but definitely if you don't feel comfortable doing it then the dealership is a good choice!
FYI - never touch the battery with a bare fingers :)
A neighbor didn't know how easy this was to fix and the dealer charged $150.00 to replace.
Hopefully you showed your neighbor my video before he paid the dealer to do it!
man. I tried this but the fob doesn't work still. ugh super annoying
Sorry to hear that! Maybe the battery isn't the only thing going on with your fob? I hope you get it working again!
I read this on this page www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-key-fob-battery
If the battery completely dies, the fob chip will also lose power and become useless unless reprogrammed directly by the automotive manufacturer.
