It is THE leading economy in Africa. It is the most industrialised country in Africa. It produces everything it needs, and affords its people a higher per capita income enmasse than any other. The difference is that while other people rebase their conomies, and make wild claims about their GDPs, South Africa cares about improving the economic conditions of its people. I am from Zambia, and I might be biased about it, but so be it.

In order for them to do that they would need to have a countrywide dialogue, then a complete overhaul of their current system as nothing seems to be working there. Dude, this is South Africa 30 years ago. Today it's a mess due to corruption and misgovernance, our rail network doesn't work and neither do our ports. We have a murder rate higher than war torn countries and democracy is only democracy once government actually changes hands.....so we're not there yet. Our education system sees black children not reading for meaning at 10 years old, an unemployment rate close on 45% and we are so far up commie nations asses we are literally throwing employment away.

You seem to forget that the size of the South African economy in 1994 was $113 billion. It's now over $400 billion with one of the wealthiest White populations in the world and the second largest black middle class in the world after the US black middle class. There is a grave over exaggeration in our country about the successes of the Apartheid state. Apartheid only benefited the whites and so they would have people convinced it was better. Well it wasn't. I'm 40 years old and I can tell you not a single house had electricity in our township in 94. In 2024, 98% of households in South Africa have electricity compared to 16% under the apartheid government. This includes houses in the deepest rural area you can find. Yes the ANC has made mistakes but to compare 1994 for blacks and 2024 is a huge huge difference. The high unemployment is their most persistent Achilles heel and corruption is their ugliest sin but there is no doubt that the country has moved far beyond what it was in 94. Perhaps a change in government will sort out some of the things that the ANC is seemingly not prepared to rectify.
