- At the start of every year, I like to remind the Clubbers of all the books in our TBR pile here at Book Club.
It has grown and developed over the years, and as you will see from this video, there is quite a collection of potential books for us to read during the live reads!
So now it is over to you guys! Be sure to comment on which of the titles you would most like us to read, and whatever books get the most interest and engagement, will be the ones that go into the first poll of the year, and the winner we will read for our first Live Read of the year, Sunday the 7th at 8pm.
Can't wait for another great year reading these amazing books together. Get involved, and I hope to see you on Sunday!!
My choices are Famous five and the secret 7 and the wishing chair. Hope you have a good day
You too. Thanks for your request 👍
What a great selection for the new year! Something I'd love you to read is the "Shadow children" series by Margret Peterson Haddix. I know we have to be careful with RUclips's strict copyright laws. The first book of the series was published in 1998 and the last book was in 2006 so I'm not sure if thats too recent or not. If it is, we can just continue with the classics. Which ever way you decide to go, I'm super exited for what you have in store for us. I have a feeling its going to be a great year here at book club! :)
I will look into the shadow children, but like you say, it could be troublesome being such a recent publication. I too am looking forward to a great year reading amazing books here at Book Club! 🙏
I'm so glad to get to know this channel. Thanks so much for this good collection of books. I'll go with Eat, Pray, love and Walden.
Welcome to Book Club! We will actually begin Walden a little later in the week, and then work slowly through it. So much to read! 😀👍
Oooo wetting our appetites with a great selection of books to choose from 📚🤓 my first choice would have to be one of my childhood favourites, The Secret Garden. Second, Marcus Aurelius The Meditations of the Emperor. Third, Henry David Thoreau Walden. 🙏🥰
Hey Donna! Noted and recorded. First poll of the year will drop tomorrow. Excited to see everyone on Sunday 🙏❤️
Hope you can make it 😊
So many to choose from! I loved Anne of Green Gables, so I would like to hear the rest of that series. I also love the Davinci code, and am interested in the Bone Collector. Thank you. 🙏❤📚
I agree they are all wonderful stories! I have considered your comments and you choices will likely be in the next poll 🙏
I have Walden and Paradise Lost, but haven't read them yet. Those are my choices. I would gladly re-read Meditations or Fight Club too!
Ok great! Thanks for commenting. I will note these down and consider them for the poll. 👍
Happy new year! Would love to hear you read the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy!!
Happy new year to you too! Request recorded and will be considered for the next poll!
Hard to choose!! It's a very good selection!!
I'd go with the Bone collector!!
We haven't read a thriller yet, I believe!!
You are right, we haven’t. Unless we consider the few Halloween genre books we read. I considered them rather thrilling 😉
Please read The Secret Garden and the other she wrote was A Little Princess. Also Anne of Green Gables series I loved it growing up.
I really like your choices! Anne of Green Gables is such a great series. And Secret Garden is fantastic.
Yes, great choices! Thanks for your comment and suggestions. I will definitely consider these for the next poll 👍
Those were both ahmazing books! Little princess was incredible too but I always went back to the Secret Garden 😊♥️✔️
Good morning Lewis,
Hope you're feeling way today and are excited about the new year ahead.
Personally I can't comment much on this pile. I hope whatever you pick is enjoyable both to you and a multitude of your subscribers, but I also hope you do begin narrating Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson.
On another note, have you ever heard of an English author named Douglas Reed?
Hey Rafael. I hope you are well. We will be reading Beelzebub very soon. Next week in fact 😊🙏, I will also be speaking about other epic books on the channel and The Mind Experiment will be included in them. Be well friend 🙏
@@bookclub5291 I am looking forward Lewis 👌
Thanks 🙏I wish you, your family and your loved ones the same ;)
Hello Lewis! Wow - what a great selection of books! I admit many are new to me. I'm so glad to be catching your Poll! My 1st choice would be for us to finish The Wishing Chair collection :D a favorite childhood memory. If it helps to list other faves, my 2nd would be more of The Famous Five :) and 3rd Anne of Green Gables; was a favorite of my children (now grown). Thank you for ALL your reading
You are very welcome 🙏 so happy that you are enjoying all of the readings on the app!! Here’s to another year of reading amazing books ❤️📚😊
Bone Collector ✔️
Shadow Children ✔️
Noted. Thanks for your votes! 😀👍
Thank you so much for all the great books! Really excited for Kerouac!❤ Absolutely LOVE his books! ❤ Thanks again and all the best for the new year! 🙂
You are very welcome! I will definitely consider Kerouac for the next poll 🙏❤️
Hello, I'd like to place a vote for Marcus Aurelius' "Meditations" as I've heard multiple people mention it recently.
Ok, vote recorded! Thanks for commenting 👍
OMG!!! You need to read this. It's currently 3:50 midnight time in India. I had just finished watching the movie 'Da Vinci code ' and as usual I came to see the comments under the RUclips trailer for the response. Somehow I came across this book club and found a reading poll with "the secret garden" in it. I have been wanting to pick up reading this year. So here is my reason for writing this comment. I was reading about the secret garden on Wikipedia and came to the decision to follow this channel, meanwhile I was thinking of an unfinished book I picked up last year. A few minutes later I read good things about the secret garden and finally followed this channel. This particular video caught my eye and the first comment I came across was ," Marcus Aurelius meditation!!!' same book I thought of just a moment ago. I am shook and thoroughly surprised. My first coincidence of 2024. Wow,!
So here is my vote for Marcus Aurelius meditations. Hello to the first book club I ever followed. 26 (Female) from India.
Welcome to the channel! It’s great to have you here with us. Very strange how things comes about sometimes, almost like there is some force helping to guide things..
You are 5 hours 30 ahead of the UK, so the live reading will begin at 1:30 am.
Again, welcome to the channel 🙏❤️
I think you should spend this year reading through your TBR pile, they all sound great even the ones i've read before. my personal choice would be Monkey as a stand alone and the wishing chair for a longer read. sorry if this has bad grammar and spelling I have a nasty cold and its almost 3AM here in America, and I'm too tired to care.
That's the plan! Get people’s suggestions in the poll and whatever wins is what we will read. 😀👍
I'm going with HitchHikers Guide...some comedy would be great!! I dont think my brain can take more Dickens right now...Tale of Two Cities did me in!!.... All the others have my second vote!!
Hey Karen, I know what you mean!! But I think our reading stamina and strength has surely developed through the reading of A Tale of Two Cities. Something lighter to start the year will be welcome 😊🙏
@@bookclub5291 I admit...Tale of Two Cities waa so confusing to me I had to watch a movie adaptation...it didnt help!! I still havent been able to decipher how Madam Defage became so powerful lol
I know Karen. It’s still not clear to me either! All I know is that we have closure as we finished it, and now we can move on 😀👍
Enid Blyton is one of my faves and would love to hear the Davinci code.
Ok great. I will get a new poll out soon. Excited to see what wins!
thank you Lewis for your wonderful channel! I cannot just pick one book out of the treasure trove pile so I will relate my top five:
1) Mt. Analogue - maybe that would work well after the "Tales"
2) Dharma Bums - like Daumal a maverick artist finding a path to truth
3) Monkey - many translations - some of them in many volumes! - like 1000 nights and a night.
4) Being There - always thought Chauncey Gardiner would make a good Fool in the tarot.
5) Steppenwolf - love all Hesse Steppenwolf and Narcissus and Goldmun in particular
6) just a thought - have you read on the channel any Hemingway? Knut Hamsun - Pan, Growth of the Soil?
You are welcome and I’m glad that you are enjoying the channel. Thanks for all of your suggestions, I too am always unable to pick just one book. There are a few Hemingway reads on the channel, and I have his collection of short stories too I think. Thanks again 🙏❤️
So many I have heard of and didn’t have time to get to! I think Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is the one I’m most interested in hearing tho! One of my girlfriends in the clubbers really wants to hear Walden though too🤔🤣
Hey Lori, thanks for your request for the poll. We must read Walden soon for that girlfriend of yours. 😉 hitchhikers guide will be in the poll after this one. 👍
Dan Brown
Please, please, please, can you read The Coming of the King by Tolstoy?
Walden, please.
Hey Caroline. I will sure to get it in the polls often this year, and hopefully it will win one of them 🤞
Looking forward to a great year of reading here at Book Club 🙏
