  • America's second Poet Laureate to the Library of Congress, Richard Wilbur is one of the nation's most lauded poets, winning two Pulitzers and the National Book Award.
Daniel Boorstin, the Librarian of Congress, announced Wilbur as “a poet for all of us, whose elegant words brim with wit and paradox.”
Wilbur wrote poetry and children's books, translated, and taught for decades. This poem is one of his more personal works, from his New and Selected Poems.
Sarah Luckadoo reads an introduction to offer context and background on the poet and the poem.
