Gear I use for backpacking and filming is mostly purchased from craigslist boulder and thrift stores. I shop in these areas for outdoor gear because the people in this area update their gear every year and have good money, so I try to find last years gear for cheap in areas like this.

I grew up in Northern California and now live in Texas. I miss the Sierra Nevada's so I started visiting Colorado which is amazing. I have been back there every year for my vacation for the last 5 years and I am always in awe of the beauty every time I go. If you are able to live in some of these area's mentioned you are truly fortunate. I read some of the comments below and well tourism is a double-edged sword for sure,..on the one hand many of these small communities get ALOT of thier revenue from people visiting their beautiful space However, .I get the animosity created out of living in a beautiful area and then suddenly you are either priced out or find yourself overwhelmed with tourists who don't have the same care and respect for your space.

Never met a single local who was unwilling to accept my money lol.. If it wasn't for us, your little towns would've been all but abandoned many decades ago, like so many of the ghost towns around Colorado. Tourism is practically the only industry in many of these towns. Keep that in mind, ya self-righteous snobs. We are your source of income. You're welcome.

Exactly! And, yes.... visitors, *please* be respectful of our natural wonders. Stay on trail, put campfires out completely, don’t toss lit cigarettes, leave graffiti or carve initials, carry out your trash, etc. Alpine areas above treeline are particularly fragile.
