Every production house having its own streaming service is not a viable business model
That's why I use one of the ridiculously easily accessible freebies.
At least it's not cable
still cheaper than cable
Netflix set the entire model up for failure. Delivering so much content on a subscription only is just not viable. Especially when they stopped offsetting it with rentals and buying and are forced to continue to offer bigger production releases and see less and less revenue gains as a result.
They should have focused on making a platform not a streaming service. A simple storefront that has a small curated rotating library for subscribers and ultimately encourages buying movies to stream or download at your leisure. Then every production house wouldn't need their own platform and Netflix wouldn't be stuck between a rock and a hard place where all they can do now is anger customers by continuing to raise prices.
@@conorwade2535 as bad as cable was, I honestly miss not having to pay for 10 different streaming services to keep up with one show I like here and there. It's ridiculous that cable is now the more convenient option.
I don't think I'd count Prime as anywhere close to Netflix, simply because the vast majority of people with Prime do it just for the fast Amazon shipping.
I had prime 3 years ago and rarely watched the move and tv content. It was just part of the package for prime shipping.
I had prime for years, and only realised this year the video streaming was included in my subscription 😂
I don't think amazon particularly cares if an old primer watches it, well a little because they have to justify the higher prime fees but video is to start capturing those that came for the videos and got converted into buying on amazon. It doesn't really have to make money like the other services.
I’ve had Prime for years and don’t watch their streaming service at all. It’s the 24 hour shipping that interest’s me.
Wow. I must be the tiny minority. I don't even shop online. I have prime just for the streaming.
We can all laugh at the The Streaming War, but the collateral is tons of brilliant iconic IP being butchered by half-assed adaptations that will take a generation to salvage before they're presentable to the mainstream audience again. Looking at you especially Netflix.
The Cowboy Bebop fandom may never forgive them.
@@aduro9519 live action adaptation, people should have learned by now to just ignore those since they are never any good
@@aduro9519 D&D adaptations were atemporal masterpieces in comparison
What do streaming wars have to do with butchered IP? Studios love an IP with a built-in audience. Of course they want to keep making them
not everything is meant for the mainstream audience
Warner's new CEO's strategy would have been smart "10 years ago". He disregarded the fact that people who live in the now can find casual viewings for FREE and of more variety online. In my opinion, to outwardly announced that he would reduced the quality of production and go for quantity will reduced the value consumers find in Max streaming service.
Yup, free streamers like tubi exist. And when I watch HBO Max I expect a higher quality.
I subbed to hbo max for the strong & compelling animation slate. with that all dead now, due to be replaced by the same reality tv tripe that ruined discovery, unsubscribing was an easy choice.
Reminds me of Quibi and how hard it failed when it tried to chase after phone-users who already have an abundance of content they don't have to pay subscriptions for
Yeah; background ironing is the 4+ hour RUclips video or Twitch streaming.
Even more so, casual viewing and on-demand streaming don't match well at their core. The whole point of casual viewing is to turn the TV on and not give it a second thought, but on-demand streaming requires that you make choices yourself. On top of that you loose the passive diversity in programming with streaming. You can make a choice but then you're locked into that decision until you make a next deliberate choice. It's just not the same.
Just like Disney is counting all ESPN and Hulu subscribers as Disney+ subscribers, Amazon is counting all Prime subscribers as Prime Video subscribers, isn't it?
And Warner counting all HBO subscribers for HBO max.
well i think disney is fair to do that, since those three are just disney+ in some countries
@@filip-nk1rt but they are bundle offer and that means they count everyone with a combo up to 3 times
Well of course it is. Disney+ also comes with Hulu and ESPN so duh. And Prime comes with Prime Video and vice versa (so double duh).
Disney+ is viable for some countries. I have Hulu and Disney+ access even though I pay for 1 service.
As for Amazon Prime, it is one of the best services if you use Amazon Prime for most of your shopping bundle with streaming services, and also remember Twitch Streaming and PC games (Amazon games) free for prime subscribers.
To this day, RUclips Prime has the most content for the things I care about. Don't forget Curiosity + Nebula is also an excellent service for documentaries and a good tie for RUclips documentary channels.
The way I see it, Amazon Prime is the better offer, followed by RUclips Premium and Disney+, at least how I see it.
Amazon Prime’s sports acquisitions were really smart. Sports and awards shows are still basically stuck on cable, so I’ve seen a ton of sports fans cutting the chord and getting a Prime subscription instead
I can't believe that in a video about streaming services he didn't talk about Nebula at the end, like he does with all the other videos. Lol. Great video though, I did enjoy it.
Yeah I thought so too

Torrents are winning the streaming wars👌🏻👍🏻
Set the sail, we're sailing the high seas! 🏴☠️
Then the people you know are either rich or are very easy to satisfy. If Netflix truly had everything I would have no problem paying that. But nowadays everything is split up on so many platforms that it just doesn’t make sense for me to still use them. With torrents you can get a better quality video than any of the streaming sites and you can get absolutely everything.

Great video guys! I love these sorts of subjects and personally have always been interested in the business side of the entertainment industry, especially streaming services.
What needs to be considered is that on the list the top players Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus and HBO Max are available in different parts of the world. While Hulu, Paramount plus and Peacock are only available in the US.
I thought Paramount+ was in the UK, considering how much they're advertising it here
@@fishcereal9940 maybe they are expanding and that’s great.
One thing that was forgotten in this discussion is how much easier it is to just sign up for one month to any of these services to binge a show you like and then cancel. For cable (at least here) there are limitation for signing up and cancelling, i think there being a penalty of 3 months when you can't re-signup after a cancellation. It's a risky move, but i do see some of these services pulling something similar to stop people from jumping on and off.
The only thing such a penalty would result in would be a rise of PirateBay users.
@@TzvetozarCherkezov 😂 eventually, the pirate will rule the seas again just like before the streaming wars.
@@lapprentice well not before the streaming wars. We had the gold age of streaming (Netflix incorporating much of all movies and being more affordable/ accessable/ desirable) dieectly before it. Pirating reduced greatly because of that. The streaming wars made it possible to enter the sea again.
With such a penalty people
Wont even try. They want people to try one month but then to stay cause they actually like it. I think more people keep it then leavjng
That probably wouldn't stop it since most people have multiple emails and credit cards.

Shows like Succession and House of the Dragon are extremely good, top of the line content. I’d say HBO has the best content right now, it’d be really sad to see that change.
I agree, HBO has good quality shows and doesn’t pump them out like Netflix does.
When their programs stop being of quality, I will cancel my subscription
If you see the quality of direct to streaming HBO Max shows, signs are not good.
Its had the best shows for 20 years.
True. I wish Netflix would focus on quality over quantity
Interestingly, In India, Disney+ is called as Disney+ HOTSTAR and it has content ranging from HULU to HBO MAX (GOT, HOTD, Succession etc is available in DISNEY+ HOTSTAR).

I was wondering the existence of Universal's streaming service. I think their downfall would be using their parent company's lesser-recognized peacock mascot as the front instead of the big name Universal to attract a wider audience in expecting the studio's portfolio.
I thought their mascot was a globe lol
No NBC is a peacock.
In Europe The Peacock Library is branded under SkyShowtime
Using the Peacock is a dumb choice.
There is a REASON CBS All Access rebranded to Paramount+
The branding is in the studio name. Universal isn't just associated with the classic films and Franchises like Jaws, ET, Jurassic, Fast and Furious, Minions, etc
But they are ALSO associated with theme parks. People go to Universal Studios as a theme park and vacation spot.
They absolutely should have "Universal" branded into their streaming service, especially because they could tie in the word "universal" with their wide and all encompassing slate of films and shows.
Yooo big up galaxy on fire
The Tolkien well is not dry; Amazon just shat in the bucket.
Exactly. They somehow managed to turn a money printing machine into a shitshow.
Erase the woke garbage from the IP and boom you are printing money again.
This was well done and nicely summarized
Great episode! Thank you 👍
One streaming service being slept on is Crunchyroll. The Funimation Crunchyroll merger changed the game. Crunchyroll now has a monopoly if not a massive share on anime and that genre only grows bigger abroad by the day.
fuck mid roll i pirate anime
Crunchyroll is mostly just anime
I was thinking this too. It’s easy for anime news to still be kinda underground for many reasons. Maybe because anime is also on some of these other streamers tho 🤷🏽♂️
obviously this guy is just talking about English TV show streamers

It's my favorite service. Anime is also a reason why I like Netflix and Disney+ over HBO Max.
I think curiosity stream and nebula are the winners… in my heart if nothing else
With the deal they offer with the code, it's a good deal. Basically paying $1/mo to watch 6 or 7 youtuber channels I follow ad free plus bonus content. I'm watching at least25 videos a month on nebula so that's at most $0.04 to skip commercials plus bonus material.
Johnny Harris just joined too. Nebula is a bit niche right now with limited programs but it happens to be the programs I like. The more that join, the more likely I'll stick around after a year.

My opinion: nobody wins. And the golden age of streaming allows us to not mess around with "dubious websites" and pay a small fee to watch the contents. It was a win-win for both distributors and consumers.
With the streaming war, the content is fragmented and the subscription costs get out of control. Eventually, the pirate will rule the seas again just before.

Excellent video! Great work! Very comprehensive and informative. And spot on that we are the losers here... so many streaming services that take us back to the cable TV days of paying tons of money. So that's it then, we went away from cable so we could get all of our TV from one subscription.
How haven't I realized years ago that one day there will be all this streaming services and we end up needing to pay for all of them to watch our favorite shows!
Anyway, HBO Max, Apple TV+, and Prime Video each has shows that I really really enjoyed with Apple TV+ being the one with the most shows I enjoy from the moment I clicked play.
Anyone that puts any thought into would know it's not the same and that today's model is better AND leads to much more quality content. Here are the reasons:
1. Old cable you had limited choices, usually only one actual cable option and one or two dish options. Today you can pick what you want
2. Old cable/dish had 1yr contracts and or setup fees so changing is expensive. Streaming is pay as you go an no setup fee so you can drop one and pick another at no extra cost.
3. Old method you had to pay for basic cable package first before you start paying for the upgraded channels like Comedy Central, AMC, etc. Then you have to pay extra for the premium channels l like HBO, showtime, Starz, etc.
4. The old method to watch all the content could cost you $100+ a month while with streaming , you can just pick 1 or 2 streaming services at a time for $10-$30 a month. Just watch the content you want for a few months then switch to new service.

I have - like most ppl - prime only to get free shipping 🤷🏻♂️
What a very well produced video. Congrats
there's really to many streaming services, it's got to the point where when a new show or movie comes out I just go straight my preferred pirate site cuz there's no way an average person can afford all of them. really its the new golden age of piracy
I havely agree...like there is no way on earth I would afford to spend this much on a show I like
Just sign one at time, and cancel after 1 month, its way cheaper than cable
there never was a time you could not pirate anything and everything for free, but people are dumb enough to waste money on atreaming services x'D
@@susanthejew6351 Did always go to the physical store to buy stuff? Sometimes its just better pay a tax delivery for convenience, same thing with streaming a service of convenience, people dont want waste time pirating stuff, its just easier watch streaming
It would be interesting to know how many “prime video” subscribers actually use the service, I know a bunch of people who have prime for shipping, but never watch anything on prime, other than the odd show per year that they only watch as they have it.
And Prime Gaming too!
It's actually not bad as far as something to watch, and if it's not available to watch for free as a subscriber the "buy the whole season" options are far cheaper than buying discs. I get it's not for everyone, but as shit as the rest of the streamers have gotten it's sure nice to have Prime Video around
We signed up for Prime to get the shipping in the days when that was ALL it got you.
But it's a lot more than shipping and video. There's also Music (I routinely have complete albums downloaded on my phone), and Books (1 free e-book per month, two or three free ebook loans per month).
In India, most of the new movie releases are picked up by Amazon Prime for streaming so it is actually considered a legit streaming service here. And Disney+Hotstar (which is how it is bundled) picks up the streaming rights to major Cricket tournaments so they also have a subscriber base
If you have prime for shipping that includes basic prime video (like me) I’m pretty sure it’s a different level than actual prime video subscribers.
Disney has an obligation to buy Comcast's share of Hulu and Comcast has an obligation to sell, so the default outcome is Disney ownership. That said, Peacock has been such a flop, Comcast may be interested in flipping the deal and buying out Disney's share instead. If so, I would see Peacock being the service merged into Hulu rather than the other way around.
disney+ and hulu to merge, estimated end of 2023
Thank you for cutting in the service intros!
the worst in the DACH region is, that due to random regional licensing and new emerging platforms the catalog is always changing, incomplete seasons spread over different platforms and often only providing the french or german version (in some cases even not having the original english version). It's just a mess, annoying and frustrating. Less and less worth the increasing fees.
Not being able to watch the original is especially bad with Amazon Prime. It is really bad. I'm thinking of cancelling it, as well as Netflix. There are other ways to watch series ...
*DACHL, Liechtenstein exists
Not to forget that people in Germany are forced to pay monthly the streaming service GEZ.
Pretty good summation of the year in streaming. A few thoughts.
Netflix: Time to stop acting like Facebook and start performing like Microsoft. That subscriber loss wasn't materially big. It was big because Netflix convinced venture capitalists and banks that it was really a tech company. It's market capitalization (the money it can sweet talk out hedge fund managers) is like 50x compared to a movie studio like Disney that market cam at like 5x. The drop in subscribers was seen as peak saturation. And the money flow (based on the idea there were still more subscribers to be found) started to dry up. Netflix will spend most of the incoming year figuring out what business it wants to be. Most likely finding a few solid reliables the way Microsoft stopped chasing being the young upstart and settled on a reliable operating system and necessary apps.
Disney: 2022 was a party, 2023 comes the hangover. This year Disney definitely won the streaming wars. And it broke the bank to do it. But that success is not sustainable. Disney will want those big budge production values back on the big screen earning them money. And making the equivalent of 4 Marvel movies, 6 Star Wars movies and 2-3 Pixar/Disney Animated movies on a platform that can't generate a tenth the revenue of worldwide theatrical releases will force Disney's hand. (There's a reason why the Disney Channel never attempted an HBO style success story) Disney will go where the money is and for this year and next at least, that will be back in theaters.
HBO: Honestly, I wish we could just skip to the end of 2024, when Zaslav has stripped WB for parts and sold the rest to VCs. It's just painful to watch. It amazes me seeing how much devastation reality tv has laid across the TV landscape and believe the high priest to that is the right guy in an age of streaming. Background watching is meaningless if there are no ads underwriting it. If you aren't selling Chia Pets or Laundry detergent or anything this model does not work. Zaslav will go down as the boorish monster who wrecked prestigious studio. And he won't even have a big payday at the end because there are few who will want to buy WB for the third time as it circles the drain.
Paramount / Peacock: These two are far enough down the list and desperate enough they may actually put some effort into the streaming wars. They might take a chance on someone with vision or try something outside the normal conventions and strike gold. Paramount can't keep hoping Star Trek will be as big as Star Wars. And Peacock can't keep thinking Friends is as big as it was 25 years ago.
Crunchyroll: Though not as big as the other platforms here, I think it deserves a mention. Its young adult demographic will soon be the envy of the legacy streaming platforms. Legacy streamers will want to copy the success with a demo that will be more tech savvy and more engaged. I also think it's seasonal 13 week approach will be appealing to streamers done with the monthly grind. I don't know if anime is on the verge of new heights or has already peaked, but I suspect a lot of Crunchyroll's playbook will be adopted by the bigger players.
DAMN! What a well-written observation on these platforms. I applaud
What about CraveTV? It's one of the ones we have in Canada, it's kind of kind like HBO but with Showtime and Starz for movies added to it.
Wow! This is really well-written!! If you've ever watched tech review videos by MrMobile [Michael Fisher], it's a similar writing style.
The big issue with Crunchyroll, aside from the couple controversies that surround it, is that quality of service just isn’t great. Anime fans have had a decade of either picking Crunchyroll or piracy,. The only reason Crunchyroll has gained such a solid foothold in the anime market in spite of its lack of quality, is that they phrased the fact the they bought the rights to stream anime in such a way that it made it seem like Crunchyroll was a pillar of the anime community , being one of the few things that prevents the collapse of anime production itself.
Personally, when I was in a period of time where I was watching a ton of anime, I would buy a Crunchyroll premium subscription, then I’d pirate the anime I’d want to watch separately. Paying my dues while also getting actual quality in return.
As for the future of Crunchyroll, I foresee one of two things happening. Netflix and Hulu keep buying the rights to Anime titles and bully Crunchyroll out of the market, or a company like Disney buys Crunchyroll and absorbs them into its umbrella. As I touched on slightly earlier, lying about how much they”help” anime creators with their existence has soured Crunchyroll’s image in the eyes of their main demographic permanently and anime fans were never super enthusiastic about Crunchyroll in the first place. It’s possible that Crunchyroll outlives the demographic it burned its bridges with, but from what I’ve seen, the issues with Crunchyroll being a poor streaming service have remained exactly the same to this day.
TL;DR Crunchyroll could be a big dog in a niche market, but they’re either too lazy or lack the initiative to do so.
Crunchyroll has sort of a monopoly on the anime streaming market. Sure, there is Netflix, HiDive, and maybe Disney. But not only are most of the titles going to cruchyroll, but majority of the popular titles are on crunchyroll. People's thinking will be "I'll get crunchyroll to support the industry and watch most anime but pirate the few that interest me from other services".
Netflix doesn't feel like a competitor because the several anime they release in a year are released differently than they would on crunchyroll. And no one gets netflix for anime.
It's always a good day when a new TLDR Business drops

i win since i pirate all that
Not the consumer. That's for sure. We're basically back to cable TV, which explains the increase in piracy again. This is exactly what we hated about linear TV. Different packs for different channels, ads are back again on some subscription levels. It'll just be an endless cycle of greed -> piracy -> reinvention and rinse repeat
Couldn't agree more.
It works for a time. The last few years have been good to me so paying for Disney, Amazon, Paramount, Netflix and Sky hasn't been an issue.
However, inflation and mortgage rates are up and it's time to be more discerning when it comes to spend. As soon as that happens you realise his much you're spending an think about something like torrents and streaming apps
Paramount+ growth and strong performance has come from their parent company's quite clear multi-platform strategy (Example: still running linear channels and licensing re-runs, offering Showtime on its own and the free Pluto TV service), expanding internationally (and that not clashing with its legacy businesses or its deals with foreign players like Sky/Canal+, but expanding upon those relationships). Stuff that others can learn and take notes on.
The video does not mention the most important fact about Hulu.
Walt Disney owns an option to force Comcast to sell its 33% stake in 2024, and Comcast owns an option to force Disney to buy the 33% in 2024.
Either company may exercise its respective option at that time, or both may decide then that the status quo is mutually beneficial and do nothing.
Comcast has no way to own it. So I think the status quo will work for now. They can just make money as a part owner and not have to do much.
Disney+ "took the Crown away from Netflix"
Nah, pretty sure Netflix still has that one 😆
Wouldn't it be stupid if Hulu were to be merged into Peacock? I think the better option would be to merge Peacock into Hulu as the Hulu branding is far more recognized and after that they can maybe launch in Europe too.
Would be difficult to launch in Europe I think due to the fact most content from both Peacock and Hulu are on Sky (at least in the UK) which is owned by comcast and has a much larger brand presence in Europe
@@kianhorton5186 Yeah that’s a fair point! I’ve been living in the UK for more than a year now and wasn’t aware of that because I don’t use too many streaming services haha. But I still think that at least in the US they should keep Hulu. Most people are familiar with that

I agree. It kind of sucks that you’re not gonna be spending as much money when you look at it that way, but I also think that there are some benefits there’s still so many streaming services. They’re still gonna be a tremendous amount of contact more than we’ve ever had before just maybe not as much relatively speaking as there is now. However, that will continue to grow because every year more and more shows and movies will come out. Also, I bet if it could also be that they will start to focus more on the last contact they have making it better because it’ll have to stand out more because there will be less content to bury lesser content, so equivalent of working out well either way the sheer amount of streaming services that I have I never have a problem finding something to watch it every year that they add hundreds of new shows and movies it’s just another year of stuff that I still have to play catch-up with
I also never have a problem finding anything to watch on my free website where I can stream in 1080p more content then hulu disney hbo and netflix combined.
but you keep trowing away limitless amounts of money on streaming services xD
I take issue with how Prime Video is always ranked toward the top of these lists, since it's bundled with Amazon Prime. I don't have data to back this up, but I suspect that the actual viewership numbers are significantly low, and that the subscriber count is misleading. Edit: There's some public data provided by Nielsen and SimilarWeb suggesting that Prime Video hovers around the viewership levels of Peacock and Paramount+ when measured by hours of viewing or app downloads.
Correct. Amazon's numbers are total bullshit. They count people who use their shipping service regardless of whether they actually watch anything on the channel.
My wife is indonesian over in her country people sub to prime purely for the streaming as they don't get the prime shipping. If you set the vpn to indonesian there is a lot of subtitles for them. But it would be nice to see how many prime user in america do use the service. you would be surprised that how many other shows crossed a billion view, mostly chinese shows. But here you only hear about ring of power doing that feat. you can't forget foreign markets.
Outside of the us, prime really is quite important, as many shows from us-only streaming services end up there (such as hbo stuff in France for example)
The key is to have services remain connected rather than people binging then disconnecting until newer seasons air.
Targeting kids programs, a demographic known for watching and rewatching shows multiple times (just ask any parent), would force parents to stay connected to the same service.
that is where disney+ is doing well. I know of one little one who watched one disney animated movie 5 times in one day when he was ill
The best video to successfully navigate the confusing streaming market 💯
I suspect Amazon Prime Video is going to be more resilient due to it offering other usefull services from Amazon prime.
very interesting, thanks!!
If we look like something like MUBI, they do not compete in terms of consumers nor revenue. Would you say they are struggling or do they just have their own niche and are they doing well in this? are they sustainable or is it difficult to continue their service? Do you have an analysis for on Mubi?
thanks!!
What an excellent video analysis. Very clear & well articulated & presented. I guess the financial results will become clearer (possibly worse) in 2023. There should be a single KPI e.g. Viewer Hours, across the Sector. Customer Numbers are useful at the start, but no good, if people aren't watching. I personally like the Actions Netflix is taking to enhance earnings. Cheers💃🕺
Good episode! I’m never getting a subscription to any streaming service however. RUclips, gaming and working out is enough for me.
Apple TV+ is secretly turning into the best service of them all.
Their offering is a steady stream of quality content with occasional masterpieces sprinkled on top, and the actual quality of their stream is way above anyone else (much higher bitrate and 4K Dolby Vision being a standard). All of that for one of the cheapest price points around.
lol
What a joke. C-SPAN is more entertaining than apple tv lol
How many channels do we need?
TLDR: Yes
Can tell HBO Max is in trouble by the number of commercials recently to promote the channel and undo the bad publicity.
I know my family has a lot of streaming services due to the cheap yearly rates. We got Peacock (with ads) for $20 for the first year. We got Paramount+ (with ads) for the first year at $25. Amazon Prime video is bundled with our Prime subscription and we bundle Disney+ and Hulu. Oh and I got a special deal to get HBO Max for a little over $100 for the year. I can't wait to see what happens this year as we move forward.
In India- $18/year without ads
DISNEY+HOTSTAR subscription gets you all (Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Hotstar as well as sporting events)
I think if one of these companies stops looking at this so much like a business tech situation and starts listening to consumers more they would be so much more successful. There are so many great good quality stuff that gets canceled because it doesn’t do as well, but it’s about playing the long game. If your platform has a greater percentage of that great quality stuff and if it doesn’t get canceled so often the platform as a whole ends up looking much better.
Thats wrong tho, young generation like new and different things, they dont want six seasons of the same show anymore, variety ends being a way better strategy than focus on some dozen of shows
Honestly despite the hate I still feel Netflix is still the most worth the price. Every few months they have a great show that the whole world wants to watch
They are getting extremely expensive though..
I mainly use three... Four during football season.
Netflix
Disney plus (pay annually)
HBO MAX
RUclips TV (during football season) but thanks to a new streaming website I may not renew RUclips TV after this year. The website has been pretty reliable thus far.
Crazy to hear how much some shows cost and yet we have writers and actors going on strike claiming they are not paid enough. Where is all the money going? Plus with many streaming services being unprofitable, something will have to give.
AppleTV+ has definitely been a sleeper hit, especially the family-friendly stuff.
They have quite a few good shows and not many duds. Lately they’ve added bonus movies that change every month.
Yep, Apple knows they don't have the volume to compete yet so they're focusing on quality instead. Which if we're being honest is generally how they've operated for ages now. I feel like they're never going to grow as big as Netflix or Prime but that they'll continue having high quality content on a more consistent basis.
I agree. Netflix ruin good series with unnecessary sex scenes.
@@user-vj9hb3gy6d not to mention when 1 season of a show has a higher age rating they change the age rating for the entire show
Severance 🙏🙏🙏
Who's winning? Why the sailors of course yarrg
At this point.... Yeah
Its much more comfortable to type what you want to watch in to a searchbar and it popping up 10/10 times :D
Im a bit disappointed from tldr in this video not mentioning it at all.
Yo ho yo ho
Back around 2015/16 when I was training to be a Comcast home technician our trainer said, before the streaming wars, that "Everyone wants A la cart tv because they complain how high their bill is. Well they're going to get it but in the end be paying the same for less." It looks like he was right.
And...we have cable TV once again.
Can't wait for the subscription mega bundle and the different "channel choices" packages.
You should have mentioned the combination between the streaming services of Paramount and Universal: "SkyShowtime".
After a long time being a Netflix subscriber. I was ready to declare them dying, but then I discovered K-Drama. Nobody does K-Drama international better then them.
True... I find kdrama and other foreign series (like dark, sex education etc.) better than what America produces.
What is kdrama?
@@jasonjenkins8910 south Korea tv series.
I’ve been enjoying appleTV+ shows a lot lately!!
I dislike on Paramount + that if you buy no ads you still get ads that show previews of shows before each time you watch something. It’s making me reconsider purchasing it all year round
This is ten times worse than cable bundles back in the day. At least back then you could watch popular shows when they went into syndication without getting cable.
But now you can magically lose tons of free content overnight to rival streaming services.
Content segregation and ads are killing this industry. Piracy will be back in full swing.
There needs to be a Valve to reign in this industry like there was for gaming.
Steam is the most pro-consumer monopoly out there.
I remember when you could flip on your over the air TV be spammed with the same number of commercials and pay nothing more.
Nice video 👍🏾
I think piracy is the actual one winning the Streaming Wars.
YARRR
Disney+ is actually a really good deal here in Europe where we get all the hulu content as well as tons of great films from their buyout of fox
we even get HBO shows on disney+ here in india ;)
watchserieshd is free so no it's not a good deal
@@susanthejew6351 I mean I like to watch shows and films legally so that I can support the people involved in making the film so that they are able to make more, but you do you I guess
Does Prime Video drive Amazon shopping, or does Amazon Prime membership come with the added bonus of a streaming service?
Thanks for the video. Please continue to do so in 2023 end.
Remember when Netflix held the promise of being a one-stop for all things media, a repository of all past shows/movies and those yet to come?
Now we are back to the cable subscription model again. Torrents are looking much more appealing again.
This isn't exactly like cable YET. Right now, people are able to pay for a membership, binge the shows/movies they wanted, then cancel said membership. You can't do that with cable.
By the end of last year I stopped my Netflix account, and tried Apple TV+; which really delivers in "Quality not Quantity"!! - I'm NOT an Apple Fanboy- also added Amazon because it's very cheap!, and both services combined cost annually less than half of Netflix costs!! I thought I would miss Netflix, but I didn't!
Interesting 🤔. I might do the same..
The thing is that cable TV was intended to be TV without commercials, and look at it now. Can’t scroll channels for two seconds without seeing ads. Streaming will likely also implement tons of commercials eventually
And that will be the end of it. People ditched cable for this reason, plus the cost. Unfortunately streaming is heading into that direction as well. It will no longer be a cheap replacement for cable, it will be cable 2.0
Nice review however I would have liked to see a Content comparison chart, ie who has the most content. If most viewers are like me, I like to browse and that means I like lots of content to choose from. Most want bang for the buck especially in this economy. If content is being pulled, subscriptions will ultimately go down.
The more increase in streaming wars, the more people will prefer piracy due to loss of shows from one platform to other or even just removed in the library.
I'm astonished at how easy it is to find free stream sites!
@@keyboarddancers7751 do share some please, I'm not able to find some
@@raosiddharth4726 "The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club".
Sorry, dude: this is a public platform. You gotta do your own digging.
I think there should be an option to just rent one series or one movie from a streaming platform rather than a monthly subscription.
That's available for most films and series except for streaming platform originals, but renting 1 or 2 films costs as much as a monthly subscription.
I can tell you one thing... In the Netherlands the bigger streaming services advertised are:
Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Plus & SkySoowtime. The latter has content of Peacock & Paramount+ combined. Since we also have Paramount network on Dutch cable. That said, we have Pathé Thuis, Cinetree, Videoland, CineMember, & Film1 for (Dutch spoken) films alone. A big mess if you ask me.
Only speaking for myself & a large group of my associates. When Netflix removed most of their Star Trek series & movies, it was a big mistake. Netflix deleted Star Trek, Trekkies deleted their Netflix accounts.
Them treating their businesses as businesses is not all bad though, hopefully we'll see more focus on actual good storytelling and not just flashiness and pandering
Doubtful if there's less of it being made. That just means that they probably won't be able to pick up more niche stuff, and they will likely focus on the safer bets that try to swing as wide as possible
Good storytelling is often more expensive to produce, and doesn't necessarily bring in an equally larger number of new signups. Trashy "reality" TV is cheap and cheerful and keeps people coming back.
I think the streaming companies will consolidate.
RUclips sips coffee watching the go down
Might be me but I think the intro music is a tad on the loud side. Besides this the tune is fine.
Keep up the good work.
