The moto industry has gone away from simpler, more affordable bikes and Triumph has the new range of lightweight single cylinder 400s for around 5k which is more like it. However their 900cc and 800cc tigers were some of their better bikes. You can keep your BMW and Ducati bikes that cost the earth for spares and servicing. However well done to Suzuki, yamaha, AJP for building very reliable, torquey bikes that are better in the real world for working class owner mechanics. We dont need expensive Ohlins, Brembo etc when showa, nissin etc are half the price yet simpler and parts bin specials and simpler bikes like an uprated Suzuki DR650 with the 3rd gear pinion weakness sorted. What a rugged great bike thats been much the same longetivity as GS850G, yamaha XS650. Maybe use a yamaha bolt engine with an adventure frame. Enclosed chain or shaft drive would be good too. Well done to Moto Guzzi for their 850TT. Just make electrics simple and reliable and no fancy gizmos to go wrong like stepper motors gears breaking in ride by wire like on the KTM. Thats just one reason id never consider buying those type of machines but new bikers in general are often ones that never pick up a spanner and ride in sunny weather and on sundays so they dont rely on a reliable bike as daily transport.
