@@strangexgiant5950 You know what, you're right. I truly love the disc golf community. I'm not sure what got into me. I hope everyone is having a good week thus far.
The way sports are these days its so nice to see mutual respect and professionalism displayed, I think Paul is someone even the best players and even his peers can still be a fan of and cheer for and dream of competing against . Have a great year Brodie!
I met Paul at BSF in 2018 and wanted to get a disc signed by him. I was real brief with my words because I didn't want to bug him too much seeing as he just got done with his round and knew I was his 1000th signature of the weekend. After I timidly asked him for his signature, he took the disc and just held it for a minute and asked what my name was, if I was playing the tournament, where I was from, etc. It was striking that a dude like him would actually take the time to ask questions like that, and you can genuinely tell he cares about the people that support him as a player and as a businessman. He's a total class act and I'm glad he's receiving the recognition (and quite frankly the paycheck) that he deserves.
I had the same impression when I met him. Got to see him in a small B tier in Virginia and there was only about 25 fans following his card in ‘17. Shook his hand after his round and went up to the parking lot. He came off the course about 20 min later and walked back up to me and talked to me more asking questions about what I enjoyed about the game. He made a fan for life that day. Real good guy.
I kind of met him at the 2018 GBO in the men’s restroom about 30 min before his tee time. I was washing my hands and I suddenly realized it was McBeth at the urinal behind me... Me: “I want to ask for an autograph but I guess your hands are busy” (sarcastic tone) Pablo: “hahahaha yea this isn’t the best time” Me: “good luck today” Pablo: “thank you” Later during the round Hannah came and stood next me...so now Paul, Hannah, Harrison and I are basically beat friends and Brodie Smith is jealous of our friendship.
I can attest that he was still just as humble and genuine in 2020. I was practicing for the Memorial and threw a disc in the water on hole 9 and tried to get it out with my retriever. This turned into like 2 hours of me searching for my disc, while also helping the pros playing through who had also thrown in the water, so I ended up face-to-face with like 5 or 6 touring pros. Just as I was leaving, Paul McBeth comes jogging over and asks if he could borrow my retriever, and obviously I obliged. After fishing his disc out, he asked me if I was playing the tournament, and then wished me good luck. I know you might be thinking, "well he was just nice to you because you had a retriever." But out of all the pros I talked to that week (including the other ones I helped with my retriever) he was the only one who asked about me and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. I've always been a Ricky/Calvin fanboy, but after that moment I couldn't help but be a fan of Paul's. Dude is legitimately humble and will treat every disc golfer with the same respect.

Congrats to Paul and Discraft, Paul for all of his hard work paying off and Discraft for recognizing what an asset they have in their players and working in a way that's so mutually beneficial. I also grew up poor, with the "nothing is given, everything is earned" attitude branded in me; I suppose it's time for a change...
Thanks for sharing your story.
Dude I love you Paul, this is so incredible. You’re an inspiration to so many now and literally millions to come.
I grew up next to a baseball field in a small town, Paul is inspiring truly! Good luck on tour and hope you and your family stay happy and healthy!
That's insane! That is absolutely historic!
I am stunned. And over the moon.
This is awesome. Paul is awesome
Congrats to Paul and Discraft, Paul for all of his hard work paying off and Discraft for recognizing what an asset they have in their players and working in a way that's so mutually beneficial. I don't want to blast Innova but to just look at the difference in the way they employed their relationship with Paul compared to Discraft likely tells a lot about these companies' future trajectories.
Never realized Paul's backstory. Awesome video. Well deserved.
Good work Paul. Hard work and discipline pay off. Keep fighting.
Way to go Paul! Love to see you get the contract you deserve for being the GOAT! Discraft forever has my loyalty for makin this move!
I've been watching Discgolf for a couple years. Never played it but hope to some day (not as popular in the UK). Watching Paul McB defy odds and drain long putts far too often to be lucky, really has helped out in these annoying lockdown times. Helped out mentally in terms of staying sane but also I play other sports (golf and darts mainly) and his passion to be the best is inspirational and shows in his game. Gotta love McBeast.
I'm not crying....YOUR CRYING!
Incredible piece. Paul's challenges and path to disc golf and and his groundbreaking path with Discraft. Huge thanks to Paul, family members and friends for participating. And to Discraft for producing.
Forever the GOAT
Bahaha he's not even the top rated
Wow this is exciting news and great video!
Amazing!! Congrats to Paul and Discraft for setting new standards in Disc Golf. The future is bright
Paul is an inspiration to everyone in every sport and even every aspect of life. Well done on the huge contract. You've earned every bit of it.
Every aspect of life?! Lol get a room
@@adamc2837 get a clue
@@jeremyboyd5608 I'm a football sports agent for players and companies, think I'm pretty clued in. I don't have anything against Paul, think he's amazing, but watching this sport that I've played for many years not manage the growth properly is tough to see
@@adamc2837 Don't worry, all the posts you've made on this video definitely show you hold your opinion in the highest esteem. People have different opinions though, and I'm sure Discraft feels as though this is a good move for them. Time will tell.
This video is so well done. Hats off to Paul, you deserve it.
I have to see this man play !! It's just different when he is throwing feels like the world just got it right !!
W E L L D E S R V E D. I can’t think of a better, more humble ambassador for Discraft and disc golf in general. Keep doing what you do Paul! I am buying Lunas and Zeus’s because of you and Discraft knows what they got!
Huntington represent!!
Good for you! You rock, Paul!
Hell to the yes.
The GOAT!!!
Well deserved. Paul and Team Discraft represent the sport better than anyone. This really feels like a new era in the sport. Cheers to 10 years!
