    We flew our Cessna 182 over most states east of the Mississppi river. We then purchased a 29' used RV to see the Western U.S. and loved it. We now limit our travels to our winter and summer homes. We are in our 70's and you need to do what you dream of while you can.

    After watching all your great loop videos and adventures Its been fun watching your van build - great videos. We are Canadian and we were doing the loop in 2022-23 at the same time as you folks and we met you briefly in Islamorada after you had finished your loop and were traveling with your friends. We were on a navy hull American Tug 34 - "Donna Lynn"....after we met we were heading north and over to Bahamas were we ended up having to do the "ultimate pivot"...sadly our boat caught fire and totally burned and we lost everything and we had to return to Canada....but we regrouped and a few months later bought another American Tug ...:Panacea", in Boca Raton and then continued our loop north. We finally finished our loop in June 2024 and sold Panacea and we are also now transitioning to land travel. We are cheating and bought a travel ready motorhome...Winnebago View 24D...and are getting her ready to head south to Florida and then west across the southern US states. Best of luck to you two, and maybe we'll cross paths again out on the road :)....Corbin & Patti

    Yes! Love the addition of the Canadian Provinces. Wish more vanlife YTers did videos/series visiting all the provinces, Canadian National Parks, etc.
    Let me know if y’all are planning to venture through Quebec’s National Parks. They are a separate system from Parks Canada (Banff, Jasper, etc.).

      Oh that would be cool! I can honestly say I don't know much about the Canadian park systems, only that Canada is beautiful and we are excited to explore more of it in the van!

      It's going to be epic... how expensive do you think it'll be to put in cargo?

    • @marcbloch1963
      @marcbloch1963 4 месяца назад

      @@SchoandJo $5k to 6k. I watched another couple on YT they paid $6300 to ship their Sprinter (short wheelbase) to HI and it took them 2.1/2 weeks. Consider shipping during off season as costs might be lower.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  4 месяца назад +1

      @@marcbloch1963 Hmm, that is less than I thought, but we'll probably fly and rent something considering that cost. However, it all depends on how long we plan to be over there! We may ship our van to either Europe or Patagonia (then drive back) one day in the future! But theres a lot of time and decisions between now and then :)

    Good video. Interested to know why none of the pre-made camper vans did not suit your needs? They come in all price ranges and designs as far as I can tell, and there are tons of them marked down in price on the market now.

  • @MOTORVESSELFREEDOM
    @MOTORVESSELFREEDOM 4 месяца назад +2

    So what did you do different from window 1 and window 6……

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  4 месяца назад +1

      The big things were 1) using an electric caulk gun. This allowed us to get a solid consistent bead that had some height to it. and 2) taking a lot of time ensuring the window is exactly where it should go right before we connect the glass to the glue! It's heavy holding the window up, but that 30 seconds made the world of difference! We have all the details on our blog though for anyone else installing windows :)

    Have you guys ever done any Geocaching on your adventures? I followed along while you guys went through the Erie canal and Tran-Sevren (I think I spelt that right) and notice you docked within feet of several.

    • @SchoandJo

      No, but I do find that interesting! Would be fun to bring that into the van. The first and only time we've geocached was with our friends when we went sailing in Maine.

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  3 месяца назад +1

      Ideally immediately after we finish constructing the van! So hopefully heading West at the start of the new year! And idk how long, we want to see many places including Alaska next year. So perhaps 2 years minimum?

    Just wondering the process for deciding on the 2500 chassis rather than the 3500.
    I was thinking that the dual real wheels on the 3500 would be an advantage for conversion purposes.
    Which engine does van have? The 3.0L or the 2.2L?

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  4 месяца назад +1

      We have the 3.0L! And the only reason was cost, this used van was slightly over our budget but we pulled the trigger because of some of the extras. We plan on keeping weight minimized so as long as that's not an issue when we weigh it at the end of the project then it will be great!

    Wait till you drive the van and the flex in the chassis and walls begins to take its toll on the windows.

    • @flutetubamorg
      @flutetubamorg 4 месяца назад

      Maybe. The holes weren't ever cut through any body frame members and, in fact, were cut through intentionally optional parts of the body as this Mercedes chassis is known for.
