I came here for a new start from Greece. All the people told me to go as soon as possible to a bigger city like London liverpool etc. So I love this city. I am here 2 years I don't want to go somewhere else. Swansea for ever ❤🏴
I was born there in 64 and finally left for Brunei over a decade ago. Have visited twice in 12 years and while it was nice to be back home in the Mumbles...it just wasn't the same: I didn't recognize or know Anyone! All my generation have moved away....Swansea is now mostly English, tens of thousands of students....times change I guess but is that the future for a city? Generation after generation of transient population, staying but for 4 years....what of those who were born there...how can they buy a home in their own town these days...?
I left Swansea for University in London when I was seventeen, and from there I moved to New York City and have lived here for 31 years, but while it is unlikely that I will ever live again in the UK because of Brexit, I will always consider Swansea my home.
talk about nostalgia... i miss this city, especially the people - friendly and real. Hope to bring my kids down here some day so they can see a part of my life's journey. video nicely put together. the tranquil music makes it all the more beautiful, and reminds me of one of my favourite hymns. sweet sweet sweet
Thanks for the beautiful comments guys, did not please everybody but our next video shows Swansea when its really swinging, 21,000 kids in Wind street on a Saturday night having a good time, 210.000 people on the bay watching a free air display, 30.000 in Singleton Park watching a pop concert, 21.000 fans watching their heroes in the Liberty stadium, 210.000 people watching the Christmas parade through the streets of Swansea. And that's just the starters.
The incredibly beautiful seafront, tower, museums and riverside developments set right next to the horrifically ugly Castle Square (For God's sake, bring back the Castle Gardens), BT building (totally blighting the view of the castle), the cross roads near the Dragon (which used to be a gorgeous floral roundabout and is now a random sprawl of concrete), Wind Street (a no go area packed with aggressive, drunken yobs and police every Saturday) and death-trap roads (which were obviously going to kill someone). Now they have also stripped the green verges along the beach making it look like another industrial relic. Council planners are so incompetent, arrogant and wasteful.
have to agree with you left swansea in 1980 to give my children a better life went back in 1990 the place was disgusting dirty, drunks everywhere and wind street on a Friday night was deplorable not the swansea that I knew
i was born in swansea i use to like it but if you have a good look at it it is full of cafe's restaurants and bars and banks not many shops there any more it has gone to the dogs.and the same for parc tawe and the high street. the only thing i like is about swansea is going fishing down there with my friends. now
In some ways your right Mark and don't the council know it. They are going to spend £500 million in the next two years putting things right, the High street, Kingsway, St Davids shopping centre and the Civic Centre, the latter to be demolished. We have been telling them for years that the jewel in the crown for Swansea is the BAY and now their going to do something about it.
well there has been a lot of talking doing swansea pier but nuffing has been about it they should have left swansea kingsway alone this one way system they done was a waste of money and has caused nuffing but trouble in the city center
Swansea gone for such a beautiful city to a dog pit so much crime here now it's ruined the city not what it use to be needles everywhere people getting killed for no reason it's desgusting down here I was born here and I sad to say I am ashamed to be a swansea lad because of how run down and how this city has changed for the wors
Guys I know you all hate swansea but if you think of other places then swansea is not bad be thankful you do not live in Siria because then you would really know what it means to live in a place that is bad btw ( pray for Siria) and we have beautiful places like all our beaches. Guys just be thankful please.
I don't go into Swansea anymore because it does not feel like a safe place for a lone woman even in the day. It is run down with all the money being spent on the marina area. Shops closing, buildings being boarded up and concrete, concrete and more concrete. Shame on the council.

Swansea is Welsh, the only people there that are not Welsh are lots of the swansea university students and some immigrants, the majority of the city is Welsh
Loved Swansea. Favorite city in Britain. With love, from Texas/California, USA

Calon lan in the English language is proper Welsh music? 🤔
For some reason Swansea City looks very similar to Jersey Channel Islands
