I was the first girl in the human centipede and everyone else had their faces in the back of the girl in front of them with their jackets over their heads. I had to watch where I was going and I got slapped in the face by bats quite a few times before we made it to the bottom.

Mackinac Island is such a neat place. That big hotel is the "Grand Hotel", and it really is. They charge $10 just to let you go in and wander around, I paid and it was totally worth it. It also has a Presidents suite where multiple Presidents have stayed and a Governors Suite. The front porch is the world's largest, and you can sit in a rocking chair and watch ships sail past and off the the right is the mighty Mackinac Bridge.

It sounds good when you say it, but you basically have to be an insider to know how to say it without sounding like an idiot. It just makes me feel bad for anyone that doesn't know and pronounces the c like a c instead of a w. As a ferry worker for Mackinac Island, I would like to clarify a few things in the video:
While Mackinac Island is unique, it isn't the only car free city in the usa. Other examples include Santa Catalina Island, CA and Supai, AZ.
The island is known as the city of Mackinac Island. The locals usually refer to it as "the island" or "Mackinac Island" and Mackinaw City, located on the mainland, is referred to as "Mackinaw". The island doesn't tend to be referred to as just "Mackinac"
While there is an ambulance on the island, there is also a police car and a fire truck. The police car is not used for regular patrol, which is why you see the officer on bike. Other cars do go to the island sometimes, such as work trucks, but are extremely limited and require permits.
While hotels do use dreys (the flatbed horse carriage) to bring supplies, most suitcases are delivered to hotels by dock porters on bikes that bring luggage.
While this is more of a nitpick, cars were banned in 1898, 125 years ago.
I hope you enjoyed your vacation, and thanks for visiting!

As a Michigander, Mackinac is absolutely beautiful. Great fudge is made there and the only vehicles on the island are 3 emergency vehicles, a police car, an ambulance, and a fire truck. The sad part about the island is that it's a HUGE tourist attraction and is INCREDIBLY expensive. If you have any more questions feel free to ask! ❤
Edit: for context, when I say Expensive, I mean just going out to eat for a family of four can range from 100-160 dollars not to mention that you need to pay for the ferry which can be up to 60 dollars per person during the busy times of the year when tourists come in. And if you stay ON the island hotels and places to stay normally range from 160-230 dollars per night, the grand hotel itself can be much more expensive and can be over 200 dollars per person, being forced to dress fancy according to the dress code in the hotel (including guests) and the hotel is completely booked for 2 years ahead almost always. Horse rides can be up to 30 dollars per person, and the candy shops on the island can be over 60 dollars just for some fugde. This is all from while I was on the island, prices may have changed from when I was there last year due to inflation and such!
Also thanks for the likes! This is the most I've ever gotten!!
Edit 2: Holy crap, I don't wanna be that person but I've never gotten this many likes, so... Ma! I'm kinda famous!

I live in Saint Ignace. The upper peninsula town that ferries to the place in video. This is Mackinac Island. 8 mile circumference. Famous for fudge, forts, and taffy (and the never ending scent of horse crap) Fire trucks and an ambulance are the only motor vehicles allowed unless it is winter. Then you’re allowed snowmobiles. Lake Huron freezes and it’s thickest point is usually between saint ignace and the island so they stake it out with pine trees and it’s called the ice bridge that’s how year round residents get on and off. In the non-freezing moths residents and tourists take ferries via Sheplers or Star Line. There are cargo ships that take delivery vans and semi trucks to the docks where they unload onto dray wagons that deliver the goods across the island. You can bike or take a horse taxi around the island. Bringing your own bike is allowed but bring a lock and chain. Also, your ticket over is also your ticket back. When you arrive on the island via the 8:00am boat and you’re supposed to leave on the 4:00pm boat… get to the dock at 3:00pm or 3:30pm. The last boat is usually around 9 so if you miss your boat and didn’t plan a hotel you’ll be finding a nice bench or spot in a park to wait out until the next day where you will have to buy yet another ticket to get across the straits. Also pay attention to what port you will be returning to. If you left from the upper peninsula you will return to the upper peninsula! And vice versa. Bring cash in case of emergency . Please quit commenting on things when you’ve only been there once 40 years ago.👍

i'd probably move there when i retire in a few years, but the community sounds so tight knit that i'd be forced to talk to people when all i really want is to be left alone

AHHH YOU VISITED MY SECOND HOME!!! I THINK I SAW MY OLD HOUSE 😮😊😮😊😮😅😊😅😮😅😊😊😮😮
Also you need to go to the Grand Hotel (the big Hotel at the top of the hill a mile out of town) it is AMAZING and before they sold it we were like family to the staff and the owners (i think) and when I was a kid I got to go into the wine pantry, where even the exclusive behind the scenes tour didn’t get to go. We would go there every year for my brothers birthday and we would reserve the exact same table EVERY time we went there, it was next to the live music 😊❤😊❤
