- 🔴 ENG The bison (Bison bonasus) is the European version of the American bison. The bison were reintroduced in several forests in Europe, but are still endangered. I had the opportunity to visit two reservations of bison, the one from Slivuț, near Hațeg and the one from the village of Acriș (Vama Buzăului commune) called Valea Zimbrilor. Today I present my visit to the Bison Reserve from Hațeg-Slivuț. Enjoy!

I learned something new in this video about Europe's Bison. I never knew about them existing in Europe. Thank you for sharing👍
The last wild bison in Transylvania was shot by a poacher, around 1790. Other documents tell us that the last bison of our region died of old age in 1830, the park Schoenbrunn, Vienna (at that time Transylvania was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire). Whatever the real variant, in the early part of the 1900s, there were only about 12 animals left in the world, all in zoos. That's why you probably didn't know that there were bison in Europe :)

This species is the European variant (in English wisent = bison in Romanian) of the North American bison. Attempts are being made to repopulate the forests in Romania, from where it has completely disappeared for more than 100 years.

That is pretty cool video of the Bison. I went to Montana and saw some of these in their natural enviornment and they were as large as the tour van. Beautiful animals.
