The USB connection is to charge your phone while using. Using the HDMI alone should give the picture but will not charge device. You can get different adaptors for screen mirroring so keep this point in mind.

You can use your phones Data to connect to Airplay - you don't need a SIM in your car for it to use WiFi. Is that what you mean? Or do you want your phones data off as well?
I bought a Range Rover velar s 250 fully loaded but I don’t have any hdmi port or SD port in my car. Plus lot of stuff are missing which has in your car

Hey! It's less about the year your car is in, but more on the software version of your onboard panel. I have 2017 one and upgraded the software via Land Rover Servicing Centre, and then it got added. I would take it to your local service dealer and they can upgrade it for you to add Carplay.
